BT21 AS WOMEN (ILLUSTRATION BY GOODNESSMARIA) ♡♡♡
WE ARE WOMEN.
In Kyrgyzstan, there is a tradition where a man, together with his friends or relatives, can kidnap a woman he wants to marry. They will bring the woman forcefully into their home with the family of the man waiting and preparing to put a veil on the woman which symbolizes that the woman is getting married. Most women had no choice but to accept it because it is a tradition. A law cannot stop it because it is a tradition.
In Bulgaria, some girls who are young and virgins are being sold by their own family in an annual bride market to a suitor/bidder who can buy them for marriage or in some cases, it is what they want to find a wealthy man to be their husband.
In Mauritania, young girls are being force-fed to gain weight to prepare them for future marriage. The mothers of those young girls prepare a 9,000 calories meal a day to feed to their daughters because men find stout women more attractive than an American model.
In India, a lot of women are working in the sex industry, managed by gangsters who lured and sex-trafficked those women who came from poor villages when they were just young girls. Those women are locked up in a building surrounded by gangsters who threaten them, starved them, and abused them by hitting them if they refused to work for sex.
In Honduras, many women are being killed by men who might be their boyfriend, friend, relative, hitman, or just a stranger. Most of those Honduran women are killed for $60 because men perceived women as an easy target. After all, women trust people easily and it makes them vulnerable.
In Nepal, girls are being married off at a very young age because society viewed women as economically incapable and they don't have anything to contribute to their family. Young girls are forced to do labor and get married to lessen their family's burden.
In Romania, many young girls are groomed to work as sex workers in Europe. Those young girls think that there is no escape in that kind of life and there's nothing they can do to change that.
In Nigeria, many female students are being sexually harassed by school faculties in exchange for good grades. Nobody believed them because most of their offenders are the head of the university or a pastor.
In Iraq, one of the oldest ethnic groups, The Yazidis were held captive by the terrorist group, ISIS. ISIS killed all men and kidnapped all women and children to raped them for a very long time.
In South Korea, perverts put hidden spy cameras on public restrooms, hotels, the dormitory of female students to capture them naked while changing clothes and posting them on porn sites. This causes suicide for many students.
In Ghana, thousands of women are enslaved by a tradition where women must give up their freedom to live their own life by forcing them to live and work for priests for the rest of their lives. This is a way to pay for the sins of their own family.
In every part of the world, there is a woman who is a victim of tradition, poverty, sexual abuse and gender stereotypes. Women become sacrificial lambs because they perceived our gender as weak and incapable. I don't believe in equality especially when it comes to gender. Because I believe that each gender has its uniqueness which makes them different from the rest and makes them stand out. However, just because someone is different, you think to have the right to invalidate them or ignore the fact that they have rights, duties, aspirations, and life of their own. Every women, especially those who have the heart of a warrior are stronger than the society could imagine. Women can be independent and strong. Women can contribute and feed her family with her own money. Women are capable. Our body is not an object to own.
I still feel fortunate because I lived in a country where many people, regardless of their gender, age and beliefs, are standing up to help women eradicate the way how society viewed us. This should apply to all gender that experienced abused and stereotypes from their family, friends, and even strangers. But the problem will never disappear unless we do something about it instead of just talking about it. Action is better than words.
Remember, yourself is your power. The society is your enemy. Train yourself to fight and win the battle using your wisdom and strength.
AND TO YOU:
IF YOU CAN'T ACCEPT IT, RESPECT IT. IF YOU CAN'T GIVE RESPECT TO IT, DO NOT DEMAND THE SAME THING YOU CANNOT GIVE.

TODAY MARKS THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF EARTH DAY. FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE STORY OF THE WORLD, MAN IS THE MOST SIGNIFICANT CREATION OF GOD. HE ENTRUSTED TO US EVERYTHING FROM ANIMALS TO PLANTS, FROM MOUNTAINS AND FORESTS, THE OCEANS AND RIVERS, AND EVEN OUR OWN LIFE. HOWEVER, AS THE WORLD EVOLVED THROUGH TIME, WE WERE NOT ABLE TO DO OUR MOST IMPORTANT TASK AND THAT IS TO TAKE CARE OF THIS PLANET AND ALL OF THE LIVING THINGS THAT SHARES THE SAME AIR WITH US. WE HAVE TAKEN OUR WORLD FOR GRANTED. I JUST REALIZED THAT WHEN GOD CREATED MAN ON THE SIXTH DAY AFTER ALL OF HIS OTHER CREATIONS IS BECAUSE GOD WANTS US TO PUT THOSE LIVING THINGS FIRST BEFORE OURSELVES. IT MEANS THAT WE ARE OBLIGED TO PROTECT AND PRESERVE THEM. WE SHOULD PROTECT THEIR WELLNESS BEFORE OURS. BUT FOR THE PAST YEARS, MOTHER EARTH HAD STRUGGLED TO MAINTAIN HER BEAUTY BECAUSE OF OUR TREATMENT TOWARDS HER. LET’S FACE THE TRUTH. OUR WORLD IS SLOWLY DYING BECAUSE OF HOW IRRESPONSIBLE WE HAVE BECOME. THE LACK OF DISCIPLINE AND RESPECT ARE WHAT CONTRIBUTES TO THE ANNIHILATION OF OUR OWN EXISTENCE. BURNING PLASTICS, ILLEGAL LOGGING AND MINING, LITTERING THE OCEANS AND KILLING ANIMALS BY DESTROYING THEIR HABITATS ARE JUST AN EXAMPLES THAT PROVES HOW DREADFUL HUMANS CAN BECOME. WE ALWAYS THINK THAT THERE IS ALWAYS A SOLUTION FOR EVERYTHING. WE SEE OURSELVES AS A DOMINANT CREATURE AND WE MAKE OURSELVES BELIEVE THAT WE ARE IN CONTROL OF EVERYTHING AND WE ALL HAVE THE RIGHT TO DO WHAT WE WANT.WHEN NATURE RETALIATES, WE BLAME EACH OTHER. WE ARE ALL RESPONSIBLE. AT SOME POINT IN TIME, HUMANS NEED TO LEARN SOMETHING FROM ALL OF IT. THERE ARE THINGS WE CAN’T CONTROL AND THAT INCLUDES MOTHER EARTH. SHE CAN HEAL ALL BY HERSELF BUT IT IS NOT ENOUGH. SHE NEEDS US TO DO THAT WITH HER. WE ARE PART OF HER AND SHE IS A PART OF US. IF WE CAN’T HELP HER THEN DON’T EXPECT HER TO HELP US. WITH THE CURRENT SITUATION THAT IS HAPPENING IN OUR WORLD TODAY, WE ALL TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO REFLECT ON HOW, US, HUMANS HAVE BEEN ABUSING OUR ENVIRONMENT BY OUR SELFISH ACTS. WE NEED TO DO MORE FOR OUR ENVIRONMENT. AS SOON AS COVID-19 COME TO END, MAY WE ALL DO OUR PART IN PROTECTING OUR PLANET. MAY WE BECOME MORE RESPONSIBLE AND MAY WE GIVE MORE LOVE TO ALL LIVING THINGS. WE HEAL AS ONE. WE HEAL WITH MOTHER EARTH. LET’S PROTECT OUR WORLD FOR A BETTER FUTURE. HAPPY EARTH DAY!
Kung mahal ka niya, hindi yan maghahanap ng iba.

Pinakamatalik kong kaibigan na Seminarista
Sa pinaka-close kong seminarista since 1st year college namin, Bro.
Lagi kong ginagampanan yung role as his friend na laging nakasuporta sa pangarap niyang magpari. Gusto niya pa nga magbishop eh. Kahit magpope pa siya, full support ako sakanya. Alam ko magiging magaling pari yan. Soul sister and brother kami eh. Wag judgmental)
Outcast
There's this someone
Someone who's cheerful but can't blend
She's sweet but moody
And mysterious but trustworthy
She's so tired of being sad
Don't know if that would make her mad
She's so tired of hating the way she look
For she is nothing but a complete mook
She's trying her best to fit in
Seems like there's no use, she won't win
She only want to feel at ease
But technically, people are too hard to please.
Having plenty of friends was a waste of time
So sad, they can't even trust her
Despite those many years of being together
She thought she is only a bluff
She thought, she is not good enough.
She feel so lonely, so sad, and lost
Sometimes, she feel like she's a ghost
But do you know what hurts her the most?
It is being left out and being ignored.
She isn't ordinary, not average, not boring
It's just that others are just plainly choosy and demanding
I must say we have the same story,
What a shame, what a pity
But it turns out this girl, this girl was me
I can't escape from the reality
No matter how hard as it could be
Maybe this is really my destiny
An outcast and a nobody.
-Hanna Edurise, 2019 (HUMSS 12)
Her
I wish I had her by my side
At times I needed her the most
On nights I hardly cried
From moments I frozed
She left without wave
But with pain inside of me
The love that I gave
Is one thing she can’t see
Her face is in my memory
Her attitude is hefty
Her voice is a history
Her memory to me is apathy
She is gone with the wind
Disappeared and now lost
It was destined
Paid with great cost
Incomplete and broken
All because we lost her
In this great burden
Where is my mother?
AND WE HIDE IT BECAUSE THAT'S THE EASIEST THING TO DO.
