bonus: in the next few days while gordon is recovering the kids approach barney asking those hard questions: what happened to dad? barney takes a break from cleaning his hunting arrows and sits down with them. he says that gordon got hurt a long time ago and sometimes when people get hurt a long time ago-mentally or physically- it still hurts like it did when they got it, or makes them sick even though it shouldn’t. a lot of adults that they’ll meet sometimes get sick out of the blue for things that happened before you were born. in their dad’s case, when he got hurt a long time ago, sometimes it makes him fall and shake like that, and that’s called a seizure. you should make sure everything is out of his mouth and turn his head to the side, and then go find him or alyx. it will pass, but it’s like using all the muscles in your body at once, so he’ll be very tired and need to sleep a lot for a few days, and then he’ll be okay and be able to play again. your dad did a lot and got hurt a lot before you were born, and so did me and your mom and everyone else you meet, and because they did, you won’t ever have to get hurt like that. okay?
