If you use the excuse that you don't listen to rap cuz it's "overstimulating", but still listen to vocaloid/hyperpop/heavy metal/EMD, etc, I do not fuck with you and I think you are a repulsive, racist human being. White queers are very interesting to me, they cant engage with media made by people of color a lot of the time without some kind of tomfoolery. With Sinners there is 0 attachment to any of the other characters and the white villain is so hot and cool and must be queer, so they ship him with a young black man he's directly manipulating but solely because its him, not because they really truly like the ship they just want the white man. They look at characters and ship them because they're two white guys but you know for a fact they wouldn't be shipped if they were two men of color (especially Black) (oh oh unless their Asian because to white queers love to treat Asian people in a fetishizing way or the token poc or "your close enough to white imo so your fine")
White queer fandom will go out of their way to ship white and\or light skin characters with anyone else but their partner of color, they ignore and avoid ships of color or ships that include characters of color of all sexualities but claim they don't like "x ship" because its het when they treat queer characters of color in relationship just as bad and in my opinion, worse than het ships of color which are already hated and ignored by fandom. Men of color, women of color, queer people of color in ships?? Not on their watch! These can't be cute, they've got too much melanin!
They claim they cant relate to characters of color and ignore feminist and queer stories and experiences of people of color. They say black women in ships are "too good" for the men their with so they take the man and ship him with everyone else because shes "strong and independent on her own and he cant handle all that!" Black character has chemistry with white character? No they dont! Your just reading into it too much! They're boring together according to white fandom!
They must insert their view of white queerness into anything they don't feel they can connect with, thing is about culture? Being mixed? Generational trauma among families of color? Must be about white queerness in some way!
Its not even just white queers, straight white women in fandom do it just as much.
Another thing i want to mention is i only really see people outwardly shipping black or darker skinned characters with white characters when said character of color has sort of become centered around the white character, i.e Gewn x Miles, Ekko x Jinx, etc. I don't mind timebomb but Ekko's arc absolutely became all about her with no actual resolution to their conflict. Don't let this fool you though because even with this its rarely genuine and typically is only as popular because theres a white character is involved and the character of color in the relationship is still often treated like garbage (see "miles isnt spiderman", slurs being thrown at Ekko and his Va, people infantilzing Jinx and removing her agency in order to make Ekko seem like an aggressive scary black man, "miles would shoplift" "headcanons" and so on)
I also mentioned it above in the original post but don't even get me started on how white queer fandom treats black women. The amount of vitriol and hatred Mel received is some of the worst misogynoir ive ever seen in fandom and it was so bad her VOICE ACTRESS was genuinely shocked at how people were misinterpreting and reacting to her. Black women in fandom are usually always put into specific boxes
"He cant handle all that" - Seeks to say her character deserves better but is mainly used as a shield to appear supportive as usually she is never paid attention to again by most fandom and is thrown to the side while her partner or love interest is focused on, may often be seen as "getting in the way" of another ship, usually between two men, often both white. There is also a common pattern of invalidating her already established relationship or chemistry with another character who genuinely likes her but white fans can't stand it so pick at reasons as to why "this doesn't work" or some ridiculous reason as to why its a bad or gross ship, because a nonblack person could never love or be attracted to a black woman 😒
"Dehumanization centeral" - Deemed the worst person, usually subject to extreme mischaracterization, verbal brutalization, emotions are painted as annoying, unreasonable and too much, at times (yes this is a genuine pattern) is subject to comments of genuine torture or cannibaliaztion. Often can be seen as oversexual or subject masculinization. Viewed as "less pure" than white fem characters.
"The Black Friend" - Only there to provide as support, advice or be the token black woman of the group. Fans never expand on her character more than just being there for a white character. She is there too look cool in fanart standing next to her white peer, nothing else.
The Disposable Black Girlfriend - Yall know this one and it needs to burn in hell. Fits a lot with the he can't handle all that trope
There is probably more but this is all i could remember at the moment because its a longggg list of how white fandom treats characters of color and fans of color.
No one reps harder for platonic relationships in media than those who don't want to see people of color, especially black women, in happy relationships.
Specifically talking about interracial relationships in media, y'all don't care about platonic relationships until a person of color enters the show and has a chance to be with the white main character; then all of a sudden y'all become spokespeople for platonic relationships.
They do this within shows too, like with the disposable black love interest trope and the trope where they usually have a white man fall in love, flirt and sleep with a ton of women, but the second a black woman enters the picture as a new character, it is made very clear they will never have anything romantic happen between them.
I love platonic relationships, but some of you use them as an excuse because you don't want people of color to be with your favorite white character, and it shows.

I'm Coloured in South Africa (non-black) and Black in the West. I change race depending on where I am and arguably depending on who I am with and how I'm being perceived.
It's also why even though there are white Latines, they are very often racialised as being simply "Latine" as a kind of racial identity in the western world.
Obviously, this is different to being trans but it's an example of the fluidity of racial identity. Even ethnicity is something malleable, bendable and can change depending on where, when and who you are. Gender being a kind of 'social skin' just means unlike race and ethnicity, it's reflective of the internal and psychological rubbing up against the external social world.
