Anyone else, esp. neurodivergent people, ever talk to someone and get elated because you’re like wow :) I am doing a Conversation :) I am doing the Asking Questions and Listening Attentively and Expressing Interest :) I have shared a Joke or brief Amusing Happening and this person liked it :) this person seems to enjoy speaking to me and I enjoy speaking to them :) I’m a person.
I once was talking to someone I admired and they told a joke about our managers and I added to the joke, and they laughed so hard they couldn’t talk and I was like thank you for laughing I have truly never experienced this level of euphoria and also I would die for you now.
Recognition Responsive Euphoria is a hell of a drug
I do this and I’m like “This is great. I’m going to get a good grade in conversation, something that is both normal to want and possible to achieve,”
Babygirl I go through spoons faster than you can even imagine
Everyone tagging this "I thought this was about spoon theory": that works too. Here, you can have this post. It's yours now. If you need me I'll be emptying my ungodly overfilled cutlery bin from the dishwasher.
FlappyHappy is a small business that has been started. It is run by autistics. Our goal is to make stim toys affordable and accessible to those that need them. Many places that sell stim toys are focused on the needs and experiences of parents of young autistic children. Here at FlappyHappy, autistic needs and voices are centred over caregivers. Our stim toys are also great for people living with trauma, ADHD, chronic pain, anxiety, or other needs!
As a small business, we could use your help to get the word out and get started.
If you can’t afford to purchase from our shop, you can still help by tagging us in social media (the links to all of them will be at the bottom of this post). You can also help us by sharing our social media posts whether that be on our Tumblr platform or other ones like Twitter, Facebook and TikTok.
A lot of our success will depend on being able to get the word out.
We will be using the proceeds of sale to expand our product line to bring you a variety of quality, affordable stim toys.

This is the business my friend and I started. Please help spread the word if you can. Especially on other social media if possible.
I see a lot of people asking about alternatives since Stimtastic shut down. You can also really help us by recommending us!
people think taking things literally is just like
not getting jokes and sarcasm
when in my experience it's more like
thinking you have to fulfill 100% of the exact requirements for something, when everyone else apparently knows it's actually a bit flexible
answering rhetorical questions and everyone thinking you're stupid
SAYING something with a literal meaning and others interpreting it figuratively
following instructions to a T but not knowing how to modify them if something goes wrong
wait that song was talking about WHAT??
doing EXACTLY what someone asked of you and them getting mad that it wasn't what they meant or actually wanted
being terrified of people's empty threats or hyperbole without realizing they didn't actually mean it
memorizing all the connotations of different words so you can use them as precisely as possible, getting frustrated when others are inexact
still not getting jokes and sarcasm
...oh
so i read books like a formula 1 car on cocaine because of my profound ignorance of how nerotypicals use communication. this part can be pretty hard to teal with sometimes.
you know the thing where nt people are like “autistic children are bad at Play because they just take toys and line them up :/” those fuckers. don’t understand. how satisfying and fun it is to put things in an order and then behold them
“Bad at play” not my fault you don’t know how fun lines are debra
oh so when PETER PARKER gets sensory overload he has spidey senses but when I do I HAVE AUTISM
you both have autism hope this helps
Whenever autism moms post shit like like “autism won today 😔” Im just like okay, another win for autism!

My sister finally got her diagnosis about a month ago. She’s very familiar with those autism moms on Facebook. When she got the diagnosis she requested this cake specifically.
Owning a weighted blanket is all fun & games til it's time to make your bed
Whirling and juggling my weighted blanket high into the air like an Italian chef throwing pizza dough
"autism be damned my kid can work a grill" reminds me of this time my therapist told me he met a little girl who's special interest was deep fryers
I love autistic people
analyzing culturally important shitposts from an autistic perspective. "Those are his hooves you bitch" occupies a particularly esteemed tier
I don't know if this really is apparent to others but one of the main types of humor on the internet is "person does 'deviant'/weird thing and everyone laughs at them"
there is, however, a related type, where a person does a "deviant" or weird thing, someone questions it, and gets immediately shut down with an equally unorthodox and "weird" reply, ending up memorialized as the person who stepped out of line
It's a fun little inversion wherein lil wayne is not violating socially sanctioned boundaries by having socks on in the jacuzzi tub, but the person questioning his socks definitely is, because why would you question someone's hooves? What is wrong with you? You bitch?
What if silence is in fact a sound, but because its a universal sound we just adapted to it and dont notice it anymore
I actually just wrote a paper on this!!
The short of it is, yes, that's exactly what happens. There's no such thing as pure silence outside of a vacuum (and inside a vacuum you'd be dead). So basically your ears are constantly adapting to the noise threshold of your surroundings and slowly ignoring it. If you were in a perfectly silent room (anechoic chambers are cool!) you would actually start to hear the sound of existing!
In film class we learned that you need to record the silence in a room for at least two minutes or so and save it before you start shooting there. This is called "roomtone" and is done so you can put it into every bit of artificial silence later- if your editor decides it's best to cut the sound so there will be a longer gap between lines of dialogue, for instance, the artificial silence in between will sound weird to the viewers and break their immersion, because it isn't the silence of that room as they're been hearing it so far.
Room tone is also useful to overlay if you need to re-record any lines later or that kind of stuff, I think, but. I didn't listen THAT much in film class
This is pretty much why active noise cancelling works too!
just got a weighted blanket fellas, i’ll keep you updated

☠️👻🦇| Friday the 13th Vinyl Record
[ID: 2 gifs showing the friday the 13ths vinyl record. It’s a liquid filled clear record. The liquid is red resembling blood. In the first gif, it’s held upright, from the top and bottom, and then tilted a bit forward making the liquid shift. In the second it’s placed on a turntable and spinning with the needle close to the edge. /End ID]
This still blows my mind
I will happily delete this if I’m derailing or taking away from the original message (initially I put this in the tags, but a friend asked me to reblog as text)
If you don't want to pursue an autism or adhd diagnosis and you have access to a doctor or therapist you can get them to write you a note attesting to a symptom of your neurodivergence (rather than naming the condition itself) and stating the need for accommodation.
It's something my therapist told me about when we were still working in offices. I have sensory processing issues and on multiple occasions the noise in my office was so bad I broke the skin on my hand clenching my fist.
This work-around of course won't fix structural ableism and relies on you having access to a doctor/therapist who actually gives a crap, so still might only help a couple of folks.
Ummm....
