"Why is it a problem if students use AI to get through college"
Because if you demonstrate to me that you're willing to set aside concern for truth, evidence, and verifying things with your own eyes whenever it happens to be inconvenient for you, I have a solemn responsibility to make sure you don't get into medical school.
"oh, but this course is just a distribution requirement, it's not for my major"
Does saying things that are true and that you know are true only matter when someone is giving you a little prize for it?
Tumblr doesn't like to do this kind of ethics, so I have to phrase this carefully, but it's a question of character. And a person's character is clearest when they're being asked to do the right thing even when it doesn't matter to them.
I don't want to live in a world in which doctors and lawyers and politicians just ignore the responsibility to research and verify when it's inconvenient for them. When they're busy. When they have something they'd rather be doing. The world I live in is already too full of those people in positions of power. I'll be damned if I let there be more of them.
"Making a better burger is literally so simple, I don't know why McDonald's doesn't do it this way. First we're going to begin by craft dry-aging this A5 wagyu beef with the sho-shu-ryuba technique that I learned at a restaurant you're only allowed to work at if your parents are bluelinked on wikipedia..."
This post continues to occasionally strike a nerve in the trust fund baby influencer fandom.
I truly hate the word "unalive." There are so many other euphemisms that fictional Italian mobsters worked so hard to provide you with and you just ignore them.
beautiful compilation from @orc-sign-language
"Joined the great majority" is a good one that I practically never hear.
"Approaching room temperature" is a personal favorite from the medical field.
🎶Joined the choir unseen! Fly collecting!🎵
"[person] is no more" "ceased to be" "expired and gone to meet [their] maker" "a stiff" "bereft of life" "rests in peace" "run down the curtain and joined the choir invisible"
My little sister's new boyfriend got a tattoo for her about a month ago and he wanted matching tattoos so he decided to get uh. The tattoo on her ankle of her ex boyfriend's name that she hasn't gotten covered up yet
She broke up with him but I also just got the same tattoo
OK my dad also got it
DYLAN!
It took five months but we finally convinced my stepmom to also get it
My fucking manager got it
something i have always found really weird is when english texts italicize words from other languages.
i remember reading a book as a kid and the author continually italicizing the word tamales
official linguistics post
if i had to explain what tumblr is like i’d only show this
No one seems to be acknowledging the far funnier element of this, which is, that when you go to the commenter’s account, you find out they are actually fucking roleplaying as a sexually repressed skeleton and jjst really committed to the bit while everyone in the reblogs is talking about how much they hate minors or whatever. thank you kharak the skeleton servant of the almighty lich king
theres bikes around the city you can rent but you have to use an app that needs your drivers license. theres buses that drive right to your destination, but if you dont have change you need the app. you can wash your car here if you sign into the app. you can go to the bathroom here you just have to unlock it with the app that needs your location on. you can order at this restaurant if you scan the code and download the app. im losing my freaking mind
how to stop being depressed no glue no borax
I've never been able to remember their username or find evidence for any of this again but back in the day on the cracked.com writing forum there was a user who lived in a dirt cave she dug under the roots of a tree. We knew this because she would post naked selfies in the dirt cave but we weren't sure how she was using the internet in there. Eventually she had to be banned because she'd just viciously trash other people's article pitches and all of her own pitches had to be rejected because they were all about the benefits of drinking your own piss.
God forbid women do anything
I had to mentally send myself a reaction image the other day. I ran up the stairs on all fours, said to myself “i’m such a locationpilled scampercel” and then perfectly envisioned this image
please i've already hurt so much
classic online experience
big thank you to the tumblypoos for understanding the spirit of this post (the curse of being chronically online and nosy) and not typing one million comments going "yeah! fuck teenagers," as has been the trend on twitter
I feel like some people need to relearn Genre Expectations... "Man, this tragedy sucks!!! Why didn't they just do XYZ, then everything could have ended happily!!" well, then it wouldn't be a tragedy, would it. "Man, this lighthearted teen romcom is terrible, it's so sappy and unrealistic!!" Well, yeah. If it had been gritty and dark, it wouldn't have been a lighthearted romcom, would it. Is the writing actually bad or are you just trying to order a milkshake from a Home Depot
Some people got so deep into the deconstruction media phase that they don't like anything normally constructed any more.
What do vampires do for the holidays
you're not
The fact that this joke is from the very first episode (which aired in January 1997) is messing with me.
