What's the name again? ~ coffee shop AU
When Sam was standing back up again, Castiel was resolutely staring at the items on the counter and praying to whoever the hell was listening that that he wasn’t as bright red as he felt. Because that compliment, although possibly just warm hearted banter Sam might share with everyone that came through those doors, it was still the first time anybody had called him anything near complimentary since Adrien…well since….
And as much as he loves this talking with Sam as opposed to ogling him from afar he just realizes, he can’t do it any more. Human interaction is tiring and confusing and with Sam it’s also exhilarating but incredibly tiring. So picking up the muffins and switching it for some cash, he managed to meet Sam’s eyes and give him a grin before stumble-mumbling about keeping the change as a tip before picking up the drink as well and returning to his seat, being sure to dip and pick up his coat before leaving.
Along the way all he can think is he hopes he didn’t put Sam off or make him regret his job or that he said the wrong thing or came across as an idiot, quietly sitting there nursing his drink and muffins.
It was too cute, it really was, watching the faint blush in the guy’s cheeks. Surely he got comments like that all the time? If not, his friends were idiots.
And then Chad was putting money on the counter and looking all sheepish and scurrying back to his table, and it was all Samandriel could do not to laugh at how adorable it was. He was tempted to follow him, but a group of students wandered in and he sighed, before getting to serving them with his customer-smile.
But he still glanced over at Chad’s table every now and again, just to make sure he was still there.
It's a while before he has the nerve to talk to Sam again although it's not helped by the fact that every time he comes in, the place is really busy. See he can't talk to him if it's busy. Sam has a job to do and other customers, far far more interesting customers to talk to and like not everything about coming here is about Sam. He's here to unwind too.
It's probably the fourth or fifth time he comes in when he sees that the shop is pretty much deserted. Maybe everyone was at work or there was a new coffee shop or something. But there is pretty much nobody else there except Sam.
And all of a sudden his chest tightens. Hopefully this time he wouldn't make as much of an ass of himself.
"Hot chocolate please." he mumbles as he comes up to the counter.
