Henny and Eddie

Henny Garfunkel is an iconic street and portrait photographer, known widely for her inventive ways of making ordinary media calls extraordinary and for giving both unknowns and the world’s biggest names her own star treatment at international film festivals.

Some of my favorite Eddie Redmayne portraits are in the session she did at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2011 (when he was promoting Hick), and some of the quirkiest at Sundance in 2008 (when he was promoting Savage Grace).

This short film is a behind the scenes look at what makes Garfunkel so remarkable. (I only wish she hadn’t been narrating over the brief portion with Eddie, so we could hear how she was cajoling him into those poses which ranged from poignant to exuberant.)

A Throwback Thursday remembrance on this day when it was announced that Eddie Redmayne’s latest film, The Good Nurse, is headed for a world premiere at TIFF 2022. Here’s one of our favorite shoots with the iconic Henny Garfunkel, a Toronto regular (along with another Garfunkel classic from Sundance). In this photo, she captures Eddie’s physical attributes stunningly—the freckles + luminous eyes—but also his soulful sweetness + vulnerability.

It looks like tags pages have been frozen across the entire site for at least half a day now - on desktop AND mobile. I've checked multiple tags/variations, and they all have the most recent post somewhere around 6pm central time yesterday, nothing after that. So basically, if you post ANYTHING at all on this site, it won't show up in any tag. Not sure what caused this or when it will be fixed, but I figured it would be helpful for people to know about it.

Getting darker?

What should we read into Newt Scamander’s changing signature look, as seen in the new teaser trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore?

The bright teal coat, rust-hued suit and gold waistcoat of the original film had deepened into a dark gray-black tweed overcoat and muted waistcoat for the second installment.

Now the new glimpse of Newt’s familiar ensemble in the third chapter of the series is dark, dark, dark — all charcoal or black —the overcoat, suit, waistcoat, tie.

He looks more like a mortician than a magizoologist.

Perhaps we’ll learn more on Monday when a full trailer is due for release…stay tuned.
