Okay so here’s me rambling why i love them so much (personal tmi ahead).
Because I see so much of myself in them. Like Newt, I’m also socially awkward and introvert. I also tend to think that i annoy people, and it’s so refreshing to see a character who doesn’t deem it as something he needs to fix. Newt has his own strength, and deep down he’s totally fine with being himself, though he constantly wishes he can be less awkward. Plus he’s charismatic in his own way: soft and hard at the same time.
But Tina is someone that I can relate even more. She is reserved and acts snappy to hide her inner insecurities, and girl that’s basically me. I’d like to think that she had some unpleasant experience dealing with relationships, whether it’s romantic or not. Then she decided it’s safer to keep everyone at arm’s length so she won’t get hurt, which causes her to appear more reserved. I feel like she has a lot of insecurities that definitely has to do with comparing herself with others, especially Queenie. She tries her best to excel, and she definitely needs someone like Newt to care about her (giver or not everyone needs to be cared), especially given that she’s always taking care of Queenie. As an elder sibling, i can confirm that once you enter care-giver mode it becomes second nature, and it gets difficult for you to care about yourself. Newt is perfect for her because he warms her and gives her true confidence that is independent of her achievements. and Tina is good for Newt because she gives affection and strength, and I totally think Tina would hex anyone who dares to look down at Newt (and Newt would be: that’s my salamander).
I can hardly believe you left only two days ago. I would’ve written sooner, but I was worried the letter might miss you in your travels. Pickett and the niffler send their love. They both looked for you this morning, and I’m not convinced they believed me when I told them I haven’t hidden you away somewhere.
I’ve made arrangements for the Zouwu to be resettled in China, where she belongs, once her wounds heal. I know a wizard there who will look after her and ensure that she adjusts.
Theseus stopped by earlier today. He looks haunted, and hardly talks. I can tell he hasn’t been sleeping. I do not know what I can offer him, but it seems he wants to visit. This is the most we’ve spoken in years. Mother used to say we’d get along better when we were older, which I always thought was rubbish, but perhaps she was right. I wish it hadn’t been like this, though.
I’ve never told you, but for a couple of years during school, Theseus used to try to bring me along to parties with his friends. It never went very well, to say the least.
Did you and Queenie have similar friends in school? I believe the age differences between us are just about the same.
I keep thinking about everything Leta said in that vault. We hadn’t seen each other in years, but I used to think I knew her well. It seems I did not. How is it possible to look at someone so often and miss how they are hurting?
You see people well, I think. You noticed Credence, after all.
You seemed quiet the morning you left. I know you will miss Queenie even more in New York.

Tina trips into her room, tugging off her stockings as she goes. Her cheeks ache from smiling and she is trembling again and Mercy Lewis we kissed.
She glances at Queenie’s bed and laughs to think what her sister will have to say the next time they see each other.
(“Go! Talk to him! Dance with him! I don’t even need to be me to hear those thoughts,” she’d said at the end of the ceremony.)
She’s pretty sure that the next time she and Queenie are in a room together, her mind won’t shut up no matter what she does.
We kissed, and his lips are so soft, and his hands feel amazing, and he held on to me and leaned against me and his eyes are beautiful and so is his voice, and when he held me up, I think I finally, just for a moment, let go…
This is it now, for good, right?—and I didn’t startle him, or…
I love that they’re sharing, like, an inside joke for being the most important people in the wedding party of the two people they watched salivate over each other at dinner the day they all met. (Also, they’re definitely both thinking somewhere, will they be our maid of honor and best man when we get married?)
Her voice getting all soft. (Newt noticing things about always-showing-up-where-you’re-not-wanted, nobody-notices-you-except-when-you’re-in-the-way Tina and surprising her with them is my favorite.)
THAT LAUGH. The happy, relieved, giddy, tender laugh.
WHAT WERE THEY ABOUT TO DO AFTER THE LAUGH. (They are standing very close to each other.)
That was a we’ve gotten really, really close in our letters and now I think we should do something about it laugh.
Hand on waist. There’s something sort of tentatively possessive about it, but in a really nice way. Like, look my Tina is here. (I think I get to call her that now, and that makes me giddy.) Isn’t she the best? It’s the same sort of gesture as kissing a significant other after they finish an important presentation/speech because you’re proud of them, or holding the hand of a significant other in the hospital as if to say, I’m standing here to protect them; take care of them.

(Newt and Tina totally kissed for the first time this night. You will not convince me otherwise.)
Oh, also also, her awkward little “hi” to Theseus, like, yeah that one time I tied you to a chair when we met, but also, you’re probably aware at this point that your brother’s in love with me and we’re also now equivalent counterparts in the U.S. and U.K. so…hi?
The way they showed us Newt and Tina stepping closer towards each other. Of course, they weren’t gonna smooch right in the middle of the street due to their personalities but I think the movie makers or whoever are just aggravating us at what could have been 😭

What should we read into Newt Scamander’s changing signature look, as seen in the new teaser trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore?
The bright teal coat, rust-hued suit and gold waistcoat of the original film had deepened into a dark gray-black tweed overcoat and muted waistcoat for the second installment.
Now the new glimpse of Newt’s familiar ensemble in the third chapter of the series is dark, dark, dark — all charcoal or black —the overcoat, suit, waistcoat, tie.
He looks more like a mortician than a magizoologist.
Perhaps we’ll learn more on Monday when a full trailer is due for release…stay tuned.
