Even though it’s only a remake of the Rayman legend, it’s still big, we haven’t had anything like this ever since the dlc that included him (which was unironically better than the og game)

I can’t help but think, no, imagine one of Sam’s parents being a vulture and the other an eagle, and he is some kind of a mix

Personally leaning most to his father being the vulture, I dunno

My main evidence: the light feathers he has. Since there are type(s?) of vultures that are “light-grey” but looks like light blue more, not to mention the feathers around his neck that could be characterised as something vulture

Even though that’s the only two things that looks vulture-like in his design, it would definitely explain those parts that no one ever questioned but me

And knowing Sam, he would definitely suppress any suspicious of that fact (since he knows or at least views vultures as less dignified and noble than eagles) to anyone who even mentions vultures around him, even if they didn’t asked

That’s my take, leave it or hang it
