McCoy definitely knows how to draw, that man has a tiny sketchbook in his pocket and sketches out things that make him happy or whatever catches his eyes. Besides drawing anatomical stuff he definitely doodles as well most of the time, just to relieve stress and keep his hand and eye coordination in check.
it's always "why do you pace so much" and never "how was the pacing was the pacing fun"
the teams salute emoji has so much hope in its eyes

data: i have no emotions
data, later: hello, geordi. i have created a portrait of us as terran cats. this artistic technique is known as pointillism. it became popular during the late nineteenth century. i selected an american bobtail to represent you, and an oriental shorthair to represent myself. after researching feline behavioral characteristics and common humanoid-to-animal artistic associations, i concluded these were the most statistically appropriate choices. of course, it is not possible to determine which cat breeds we would actually resemble unless we experienced a transporter malfunction or a similar form of energy fluctuation leading to an unexpected physical transformation. i also adjusted the composition to accommodate your VISOR’s perceptual processing. you have previously informed me that faint details tend to blend into surrounding imagery. because of this, i used a high level of contrast to better define the silhouettes. the cats' whiskers and ocular details were rendered in pure white to improve clarity. i additionally incorporated bright violets, cyans, and saturated blues to the main color palette of the piece, as these wavelengths appeared more distinguishable within your visual spectrum. what do you think, geordi?
HI guys very exciting developments in Spikeland. my pet isopods had BABIES. i've been worried SICK about them bc they hadn't had any babies and i hadn't seen any gravid bugs in the ~6 months I've had them but yesterday when I was checking their tank i found a whole horde of little guys!! i could only count 15 but there's definitely more scuttling around in there. Super great timing because i just gave their tank a bit of a remodel and some snazzy new plants. I love these little buggies SO much
(more awesome images under the cut)
I think Shane, maybe subconsciously, keeps track of how many nights he and Ilya get to spend together.
The first one feels monumental. The next few all happen in quick succession (because the cottage is the first time they actually spend a full night together!) but after that, they trickle back down to a handful a season, easy to keep track of. And that's the status quo for years.
Then they're outed. Shane moves to Ottowa, they get married.
And then it hits Shane about halfway through his first season with the Centaurs, months into living with Ilya, that he's finally lost count.
He can no longer remember exactly how many nights it's been.
They keep racking up, one right after the other. Time with Ilya is no longer something he has to fight for, to hoard in his memory like precious jewels during those long stretches apart. They have so much time together now, so many nights, countless nights, and this realization finally settles the desperate, starving thing inside Shane's chest that's been clawing at him ever since Ilya first touched him.
