His own expression turned to that of slight surprise when Green said he was related to Professor Oak. THE Professor Oak?! From Kanto?!

…Who was Professor Oak again?

He was sure someone mentioned that name to him before… but at the moment it escapes Tierno’s scatter-brained grasp. In any case, it seems like he’s meeting a bunch of Kanto folks recently. How curious! Who’d-a thunk so many people would come to Kalos just to learn a few things? It’s astounding.

"Oh. Me? I’m a local here so this is the college of choice. I’m a Dance Major…! Aiming to make the best Pokemon dance team." He held up the book he was glancing at before initiating the conversation.

"I came down here to fresh my mind up on some of the moves of Pokemon that aren’t from around here. Since, y’know, there’s all these foreign students that have some Pokemon of their own..!"   Tierno tried so hard to restrain his voice about this. But the moment he has any spotlight time to talk about Dancing— or Pokemon and their Moves in general— he just gets so pumped up! It’s hard to keep quiet about the things ya like, after all.

"Pokémon dance team, huh?" Green heard about Pokémon Contests from Hoenn and Sinnoh and saw the Pokémon Musical Theater during his trip in Unova. "I see... You know, in Unova, they have a Pokémon Musical there. Pokémon get to dance in front of an audience and dress up and stuff like that." Dancing wasn't Green's cup of tea, but the idea of a Pokémon dance team was pretty cool to him.

...Even though that was not what Tierno really meant.

Green's eyes lit up when he listened to Tierno talk about what he was here for. "Pokémon moves? I could be able to help you out. I'm basically like a battle encyclopedia, ask me anything."

"I chose those majors because….well, because I wanted to do something for myself, for once." 

"All my life, I was basically grown into the gym leader role. My sisters were once the leaders of the gym, you know. And then I became the age to take over and never really had a chance to explore and grow outside of Kanto. Last year at the World Championships in Unova was the very first time, remember?"

She smiled at Green

"And now, I get to experience being on my own, and deciding my own path. I mean, I’ll go back to being a gym leader, but I can also…do art on the side, and even act." 

"Sorry if I got too preachy there, Green."

"No, no, it's fine! That's pretty admirable, wanting to follow your own dream like that. To be honest, I think you'd really be cut out for the art and acting sort of thing. Seems like something you'd be really good at."

Green didn't pay much mind about why she was here of all places in the school, but then the thought started to knock right on his brain's door.

"Hang on, though, if you're in art classes, why are you here? You get lost or something?"

"Hm, just who I wanted to see," Leaf playfully smirked at the elder boy. "What are YOU going here, Greenie?" Of all the people to see at LCU, Green was last on her list. "I would have figured Kalos wasn't a top priority on your busy schedule."

Green looked down at Leaf, raising his eyebrows, as if he were surprised. “I can say the same to you, Leaf.”

"But what can I say?" he continued, "Being a Gym Leader’s boring. Besides, you know I’m hardly there, so I decided to look into the family business. Plus, Gramps suggested this college for my studies, so I guess it’s a win-win."

Green looks up at the ceiling, trying to think about what else to talk about."Sooooo," he began, "What about Red? Is he around?"

Smirking? Leaf took note of it, but she couldn’t figure out his reasoning. She left it on the back-burner of her mind and continued speaking.

“‘Some schmoe’?” she repeated in doubt. “Wow, and here I was thinking you’d only take the best of trainers to sub in for you. Maybe a Frontier Brain or one of the Pokemon League Champs, but,” she almost laughed. “You didn’t specify. A-mazing.”

She didn’t really think much of her wording. After all, she was still reeling over the fact that Green was here, at this school, with her. Serendipity was an understatement. And on top of that, they shared a class. “You have mythology, too?” This was unbelievable. “Oh, and you know who else has mythology?” she paused for effect. “Red!” she answered in a sing-song voice. “And he has creative writing, too. It’s like you did that on purpose. It’s like it was meant to be~.”

Well this was a shocker. Red? Leaf? In two of his classes? Not that he's really complaining about it, but that was quite a surprise to him. "Really? Huh. I guess I'm closer to home than I expected..."

Green looked at his watch and his expression went from cool to alarmed. "Oh, shoot! I'm gonna be late for World History! It was nice seeing you again, Leaf! Smell ya!" He begins power-walking to his class, shouting back, "We'll do lunch sometime or something!!"

"Well, I am taking a Marine Biology class….but I’m actually majoring in Art with a minor in Theater and Acting” she smiled

Misty, as much as she loved the water and its marine life, always wondered how it would be acting wise. She always did want to perform using her water Pokemon, after all. A dream Misty hardly talked about.

"But that’s nice, you know, wanting to help your grandfather and all. Shows you have a heart" she laughed

"Kidding, kidding."

Green raised his eyebrows in surprise. "Art and Theater? Really?" You could hear the surprise in his voice. "Huh..." he continued, "I never would've expected." He chuckles, "Well, you are sort of a drama queen."

"Yeah, the job sounds fun, anyway," he continued, smirking at her joke, "You get to learn new things about Pokémon you never knew before and all that jazz."

"So uh... Why art and theater and stuff?"

"Beats me as to how things like that happen… Some say it’s the region that brings out potential in them or somewhat. S’what Trevs said once, at least."

He scratched his chin for a moment, almost trying to remember the exact day he was told this. The lil’ guy was always spouting random info to him, it was hard to keep track of all the ‘fun facts’ he was given.

"Oh, uh… Right. Introductions…! I’m Tierno." he held his once-preoccupied hand out for a friendly shake, "It’s nice to meet ch’ya, Green…" another large grin for the crowd, "You’re a real brainstormin’ kinda guy, aren’t ya?" he tried to do a quiet chuckle, which is easier said than done for a vocal guy like him.  "You mentioned your… Gramps. Grandpa? Is he a researcher or something?" He’s just a spoonful of questions today but, the guy seemed interesting to talk to. His attitude reminded him of a MUCH less uptight Trevor and… with the kid busy and all, Tierno kind of missed people blabbering info into his ear.

"Huh... That sounds like it would be the cause. 'Trevs' sounds pretty smart." Green takes his hand and shakes it firmly.

"It's nice to meet you too, Tierno." Green lets go of Tierno's hand and picks up his book again, flipping pages, taking a glance of all the Pokémon. "Brainstorm?" Green looks at Tierno with a questioned look, "I guess you could say that. I do that with a lot of things, really. Team building, strategizing..." Green stopped at a picture of Mega Blastoise, his eyes raised and he just couldn't stop staring at it. "...Hmm."

Green quickly snapped out of it. "Huh? My Gramps? Heh, yeah, he's actually the Pokémon Professor of the Kanto region. He mostly concentrates on Pokémon and human relationships in his studies. I'm here to help with the family business and all that good stuff."

Green closed his book and put it under his arm. "So, Tierno," he began, "what about you? What are you here for?"

"Huh?" she said, looking up from her phone, hearing a familiar voice.

It was Green! Misty didn’t expect to bump into him here, out of all places.

"Har har har, it’s nice to see you too, Green." she said with a smile. "I’m a student here, just like you…I’m guessing you attend here, right? Unless you’re into stalking Red….or me?" she laughed.

"Oh please. I'd have more fun stalking a Chansey." Green holds up his book. "I'm here for my studies, of course. I'm gonna turn in my position as a Gym Leader and help my Gramps and other Professors."

Putting his book back where it was, he continues, "So, what about you? What are you studying for? Marine biology or something?"

Misty was lost

Again.

Now, she wouldn’t admit to such a thing, no. That would be embarrassing thing to say to someone. She held her phone out in front of her face, her fingertips swiping the screen to look at her map.

"I’m pretty sure I just passed the gym…or maybe that’s just a huge building full of classrooms" she sighed, noticing that it indeed was a classroom building.

"I should’ve just gone to the burrito place and ate instead of actually working out. " Misty said in irritation, and her sights focused on the phone screen that she didn’t notice the person approaching her.

Green had been reading the Kalos' Discoveries book he had checked out at the library, still reading up on the region's Pokémon and the Fairy type. He kept walking in a straight line until he decided to look up.

Stopping suddenly, he was able to avoid knocking into the red-haired woman in front of him. Phew.

"Well, well, well. I knew something fishy was happening at this school." He closes his book and lets it sit in his arm. "What brings you here Misty, hmm?"

"Hm, just who I wanted to see," Leaf playfully smirked at the elder boy. "What are YOU going here, Greenie?" Of all the people to see at LCU, Green was last on her list. "I would have figured Kalos wasn't a top priority on your busy schedule."

She frowned a bit, knowing she really had no idea what it was like in his shoes.

But there was no way she’d let him know that.

"Hmph. So you’re taking a leave, I guess? Who could ever sub in for you, I wonder.” She rolled her eyes, but couldn’t help but crack a little smile.

Leaf slightly cringed at his chuckling, realizing he’d caught her mistake, but brushed it off when he continued talking. “Well gee, you could have fooled me,” she said with a small smile. “What classes are you taking to gain this… “Grandpa knowledge” so to speak?”

"You could say that." he smirked at her wording. A leave was definitely a way of putting it, if not a bit too business-sounding.

"Who knows who they'll grab? I didn't ask for anyone specifically, so it'll probably be some schmoe who was a runner up behind me." "Also, to answer your question about my classes..." he stuffed his hands in his pockets, shrugging his shoulders nonchalantly, "It's nothing special. Bio, Marine Bio, Mythology, World History... even a bit of Creative Writing for kicks. A little bit of everything."

Meanwhile, to the side of these ongoing events, Tierno was delving his mind in a slightly different topic. However, it wasn’t too different from Green’s. He was skimming through the lists of moves for Pokemon in both competitive and for non-battle uses. By now the kid could tell you each and every move in it, given he seems to glance at it and similar volumes almost weekly.

Hearing the elder one next to him utter out his ‘Oohs’ and ‘Ahhs’, he couldn’t help but peer over and see what got his just excited as he was. Almost instantly he grinned and knew what it was. "You just hearing about the new Fairy-type, too? A lot of abroad people seem to react the same way! They’re pretty neat." he couldn’t help but laugh, quietly since they’re in a library. Admittedly, he shouldn’t be talking since he was just excited to hear about them, too… but mostly to think of how they moved. "Most of the ones I see are really elegant and precise in their movements. The name suits ‘em, really…." he trailed off in thought, thinking about the moves that reminded him of Ballet tapes he used to watch. Tierno maybe you should stop zoning out when you try to strike up a conversation with total strangers in a library.

Green looked up at the large teen looming above him, a little surprised. "Yeah, I am. It's really mind-blowing of how many old Pokémon were discovered to have this newly-discovered type."

He turns the page to a picture of a Clefable using Moonblast. "But it makes me wonder," he continued, "Before the professors in this region discovered it, all the previously-discovered Pokémon who are known to have it now, didn't seem to have it then. Hmm."

Green scratches his head and stares at the picture of the Clefable. "Maybe they gained the type through natural selection, or something..." Green stopped for a moment and looked back up at Tierno. "Wow, sorry about that. I'm starting to sound like my Gramps." Green stands up and faces Tierno. "The name's Green. What about you, pal?"

When he was in Kanto, he had overheard that the Professors in Kalos found out a new type and that there were a huge handful of undiscovered Pokémon. Curious, Green headed to the school's library to take a look.

Finding a good resource book, he took it out of the bookcase and set it down on a table. He sat down, cracked it open, and started reading. In minutes, he started learning about poltergeist swords, dragon-slaying fairies, and Pokémon evolving even further beyond.

"Whoa..." he thought, "This is amazing... I never knew Pokémon could push their powers to these kinds of limits..."

Green kept going gaga over Azumarill's new-found raw strength and Mega Tyranitar's over-flowing power, occasionally going "Whoa..."

He became lost in thought, thinking of different teams with the new Pokémon and taking advantage with the newly-discovered Fairy type.

"Being a Gym Leader? Boring?" her jaw almost dropped. "I couldn’t imagine a better job for you! I mean you get long hours, get popularity, and can beat the snot out of trainers to your liking!" Leaf couldn’t help but shake her head. "Besides, what could you be studying that you don’t already know?"

Seeing that she accidentally (technically) referred to him as smart, she blinked in surprise and mentally kicked herself.  Quickly changing the subject, she replied, “Red’s here. He’s in Dorm 1, Suite… 2, I think? He’s part of the anime club now. Well, the leader, actually. You should visit him sometime; I’m sure he’d be just as shocked to see you as I am.”

His eyebrows raise and he grins. Rubbing his chin, he replies, "Aha. So he is here..."

"Well..." he began reluctantly, "It's not as easy as you think. The long hours are boring when no one visits the gym, I do enjoy popularity, but the other thing is, every trainer I see, it's some Youngster or Camper with their Rattata and Pidgey... It's all too easy for me, really."

Scratching his head, chuckled at Leaf's words of his "knowledge". "And Leaf, actually..." he continued, "I actually don't know as much as Gramps knows. That's why I'm here."

Green looked at the robot with confusion, wondering why it came out of nowhere and why it was talking to him. "Why I'm answering to a robot, I have no idea..."

Rolling his eyes, he takes a deep breath and sighs, "If you must know," he continued,"I remember beating the snot out of Red playing Double Dragon on the NES when we were very young..." He chuckled.

"Yeah, that was a better time."
