[SK] Judášov bozk, tradične chápaný ako akt zrady, je zároveň jednou z podmienok naplnenia kresťanského spásneho naratívu.
K Biblii sa vraciam nie ako veriaca osoba, ale ako čitateľka fascinovaná jej historickou, literárnou a náboženskou komplexnosťou. Pri tvorbe vychádzam z akademických prístupov k biblickým textom, z poznatkov biblickej archeológie, teológie a religionistiky. Významnú úlohu pri vzniku tohto diela zohralo aj štúdium apokryfných textov, predovšetkým Evanjelia podľa Judáša, ktoré zásadne prehodnocuje tradičné chápanie Judášovej úlohy a jeho motivácií.
Postava učeníka stojí medzi dvoma temnými priestormi, v ktorých sa odohráva chvíľa bezprostredne pred a po bozku. Tento opakovaný výjav vytvára dojem nevyhnutnosti, poukazuje na paradox celej udalosti: zradca Judáš stojí zároveň ako nástroj naplnenia božieho plánu. Postavy na pozadí Getsemanskej záhrady strácajú svoje rysy v tme, čo odkazuje na anonymitu dejinných aktérov a nejednoznačnosť historickej reality, ktorú dnes poznáme len sprostredkovane, cez texty neznámych biblických autorov, tradície a interpretácie.
V mojej práci sa pohybujem na pomedzí ikonografickej tradície a jej dekonštrukcie. Zaujíma ma, do akej miery je Judášova „zrada“ výsledkom neskoršej teologickej interpretácie a do akej miery je historickým jadrom príbehu. Dielom teda nechcem dávať jednoznačné odpovede, ale skôr otvárať priestor na kritickú reflexiu biblických príbehov.

[ENG] Judas' kiss, traditionally understood as an act of betrayal, is at the same time one of the necessary conditions for the fulfillment of the Christian salvific narrative.
I return to the Bible not as a believer, but as a reader fascinated by the book's historical, literary, and religious complexity. In my work, I draw on academic approaches to biblical texts, as well as insights from biblical archaeology, theology, and the study of religion. An important role in the creation of this work was also played by the study of apocryphal texts, such as the Gospel of Judas, which fundamentally reconsiders the traditional understanding of Judas’s role and motivations.
The figure of the disciple stands between two dark spaces in which the moment immediately before and after the kiss unfolds. This repeated scene creates a sense of inevitability, pointing to the paradox of the entire event: Judas the betrayer simultaneously stands as an instrument in the fulfillment of God’s plan. The figures in the background of the Garden of Gethsemane lose their features in the darkness, referring to the anonymity of historical actors and the ambiguity of historical reality, which we now know only indirectly: through the texts of unknown biblical authors, traditions, and interpretations.
In my work, I position myself on the boundary between iconographic tradition and its deconstruction. I am interested in the extent to which Judas’s "betrayal" is the result of later theological interpretation, and to what extent it constitutes the historical core of the story. Rather than offering definitive answers, this work seeks to open a space for critical reflection on biblical narratives.
(As part of this reflection, I also invite the viewer to take with them one of a series of small paintings of coins on small canvases placed beneath the piece: thirty pieces of silver, symbolic of price for which Judas betrayed Christ.)

Have always wanted to make this tribute piece ever since Icarus was announced but was derailed by a roller coaster of life and emotions up until this year. Then, I visited Monet's exhibition and it reminded me why I love and found art fascinating in the first place.
Still dk if it's worth the amount of time spent lmfao but I can say I'm very satisfied with how it turn out. Learnt a couple things from him heh.
