bday gift for beck ft. fish :D
i need to figure out who the people following this blog are. because there are quite a few of you and frankly i cant tell if yall got here when i was first in askblogs, or when i went into ic blogging, or when i stopped rp altogether for a while because i was going through hell of growing up, or if ur here again because i am, once again, in askblog city.
maybe i should archive my art and personal sideblogs to merge it onto the Main... even tho it was supposed to be a promo (rp/ask/art/c0m)/psa blog, its... basically personal blog 2 now...
I just saw a story on AO3 tagged "pet p!ay"
TIK TOK MUST BE STOPPED BEFORE IT DESTROYS LANGUAGE
Ok, unless something's going on I'm not aware of (extremely likely), I gotta point out the term "Pet Play" is significantly older than Tik Tok, or most of its userbase for that matter.
Yeah, I'm not mad about using the term "pet play". That's a perfectly fine term. I'm mad because they didn't use that term: they used "pet p!ay", a censored version
Oh. Oh gawd I missed that. Objection withdrawn, that is objectively terrible.
To anybody who is new to posting on ao3, if youāre using a tag you have to use the correct spelling of that tag. People arenāt going to type in every version of a censored word to hide or look for your content ļæ¼
For everyone new to tumblr, the same rule applies to tumblr too.
You cannot censor your tags! Censored tags cannot be block or filtered. Censoring tags HARMS your audience, it does not protect them
i hear your āslow progress is still progressā and raise you āsometimes you will find yourself making no progress and that is okayā
weāre human and weāre not always going to be progressing every minute of our lives, and sometimes we need extra help to get to where we want to be and thereās nothing wrong with that
on december 9th, there is a wisconsin all out for palestine rally in madison. i really encourage anyone who is in this state and has the means to travel to madison to show up for this especially as more people are showing "fatigue" for the palestinian cause and social media posts dwindle.
if you're in milwaukee, the local chapter of JVP is arranging transportation help if you dont have a car and the badger bus is also a relatively inexpensive and convenient option, it runs multiple times per day and will take you about 30 mins walking or a quick uber trip to the capital if you select the 'campus and lake' stop.
p.s. i know madison in general is pretty milquetoast + white liberal-y, but the activism and rallies for palestine specifically lately have been extremely well organized, meaningful, actually leftist and abolitionist, calling for more than a ceasefire, and led by/centered palestinian-americans & other SWANA organizers.
please please reblog, even if you're not from here, to boost! already 1 person in wi has learned about this action from THIS POST at less than 100 notes. like Yara Eid said, we must keep fighting for their lives!
can i offer you some furries in this trying time
it is a mystery !!

I think the best part of james somerton being outed for being a glorified teleprompter is that now all the people that were fans of him didn't loose a queer creator to have faith in and support, but instead now have a whole library of queer writters to read about and listen to. A wealth of queer literature has been unearthed by digging up the hole Jeff Spamton tried to bury them under, and now we get to give them the support they so richly deserve, while tossing John Scamtaint in the grave he dug himself.
You may not be the salt of the earth, Jack Shitwit, but you just may make great fertilizer.

Bugs: Yeah I dont really like to box myself in with labels, but I like the word 'genderqueer'. I actually have a friend who I'm talking about using she/her pronouns with! I dont think im a woman per se, not that I don't love trans girls, but I am a queen.
Daffy: My mother alwayth called me a faggot. I don't know what it meanth, but I like the pizzaz.
For any followers of mine still living with parents, guardians, family, or even just with roommates and who've never lived alone and/or fully on your own terms (whether ye be 16 or 60), I have TWO pieces of wisdom for you for when you eventually do:
You WILL discover that you were wrong about some shit you felt pretty strongly about before. Maybe you never realized how often your mom ACTUALLY cleans the bathroom and it turns out she asked for help really rarely. Maybe, much as it grates to admit, putting $50 into a different savings account every paycheck really IS the ONLY way to save any fucking money. Maybe that big rolling trashcan you resented your roommate putting in the kitchen, and got in that big fight about, really WAS super convenient and now you have to buy one for yourself after they move out and take it with them. Maybe blanching vegetables so they retain their color when cooked actually DOES enhance a meal, pretty food slaps actually, and the reason you didn't think it was worth the effort is because you were depressed.
You WILL also discover new shit that works SO much better for you than everything you'd been taught. Maybe you'll discover that dropping trash off at a recycling center at your convenience works way better for your brain than getting it picked up on a set day. Maybe you'll realize you don't actually hate tofu, you just hate how your family cooks tofu. Maybe you'll love being able to walk around the house naked whenever you want. Maybe you'll find you thrive in a space with giant framed nude photography, or taxidermy animals, or fandom themed Everything. Maybe you'll realize that keeping the thermostat set like 5 degrees colder (or hotter) than is typical makes you sleep better than you ever have before in your whole life.
The point of this wisdom is: Stay humble, but also, stay excited. There's no point pretending you weren't wrong about shit you were wrong about, just eat the crow and move on. But also, there's so much to look forward to about your own space-- even more than you could ever imagine when you don't have it yet.
BTW, just to make sure everyone knows, this isn't just some internet rando commenting on her observations on the internet.
They are an Assistant Professor of Media Industries at New York University and literally just finished writing The Apple II Age: How the Computer Became Personal, a book on the history of the computer industry in the 70s.
This tweet isn't just an observation, it's the result of years of research and study. And it's absolutely true.
I've definitely noticed that when I see older tech nerds talk about open source I'm filled with a sense of camaraderie and wonder, and when I see younger nerds talk about it my bullshit scam alarms go off
I studied physics. A thing that happens sometimes when people study physics, or maybe it is truly just me, is that they might feel a kinship with the folks who invented nuclear weapons. You study their academic works, maybe read some letters, imagine their personalities in your head (most of them are weird nerds, total assholes, or both, they are physicists after all).
And so it's very confusing, looking at the AI folks, or the programming folks, or the business folks, jesus. Because physicists have an entire generation's worth of role models who all made the exact same mistake. Einstein, Bohr, Fermi, Feynman. They fucked up. Worse than I or you ever will and they'd be the first to tell you. And not because they were dumb. Because they were careless with knowledge. Knowing things is a responsibility.
And so I look at AI and ML projects and I just see people building the bomb. Only their bomb is shitty and lame and that makes it far more devious. They brag about their black box and how powerful it has become. Knowledge is a responsibility and they cede control of their knowledge to an impenetrable, inhuman, unfeeling process. They build a bomb and it is utterly droll.
And so I look at the internet and see the only thing worse than the bomb: pupils that have turned into dollar signs in the blinding glare of Little Boys glory. Because we didn't stop. No no. Our greatest minds understood their mistake after Hiroshima. But our second or third or fourth or sixteenth greatest took over.
Those are the two main things people learn when they study physics, or at least that I learned. The first: do not invent the bomb, you will regret it. The second: someone nearly as clever as you, but far more ghoulish, will see the bomb only as opportunity and personal glory. Do not make their work easy.
Thats the last time i buy āofficialā merch from etsy because who is this.
