Reading: Historical fiction for Cullen, I have a hunch he'll be into Bernard Cornwell and a big Sharpe fan. Aisling is reading either some non-fiction on physics, or something she borrowed from Cassandra, for the lolz.

Last Song: It's Aisling's turn to choose the music, summer is here, so it's Norwegian Reggaeton by Nanowar of Steel (a renowned demential metal band from Tevinter)

Favourite Plant: There's a lot of potted elfroot in that house.

Currently watching: The Queen's Gambit (Cullen managed to convince Aisling to watch it. She doesn't like chess all that much.)

Current obsession: As above, summer turned in, so Aisling's is obsessed with ice cream. Cullen gifted her a device to make her own popsicles, and she's experimenting. Today it's chocolate milk and orange candies popsicles.

Last thing they texted their partner: A selfie from Aisling from the stables. She's half covered in dirt, but smiling and placing a thumb up. In the background, a pinto horse, black and white, is kicking the air, worringly close to her. "Ten minutes and I'll drive back home!". (It won't be ten minutes)

What are they wearing right now: Aisling: a pair of galaxy leggings and a Children of BodomCalenhad tank top. And the glasses she stole borrowed from Solas. Cullen: white shirt and a pair of bermuda, and an old fan he got from grandma Rutherford's house. It's hot but not enough to turn the A/C on.

Happy Thedas Weekend! Rose/Cullen [microstory prompt] trembling hands

Hiiii thank you for the prompt! Not quite a microstory but I did enjoy doing a little something with trembling hands! For @thedasweekend Pairing: Rose Trevelyan x Cullen Rutherford WC: 511 AU: In the Shattering of Things Angst, Pining, Post-Main Character Death Brief context is that Rose and Cullen are sort of exes, Rose has recently lost her beloved Garrett Hawke in the Fade, they're on a side quest in rural Orlais evading assassins, and Cullen tried to use his templar abilities the day before. Annnnd also Rose had tried to yeet herself through a rift to go looking for Hawke recently.

Cullen wakes with a tremor in his hands. Beneath his coarse woolen blanket, he presses each fingertip to his thumbs, squeezing the emptiness between them, from pinky to pointer and back as he once had in the belly of a barque crossing the Waking Sea. There’s emptiness beside him too, Rose’s blanket sunken into her bedroll. A curse flits through his headache. Cullen sits up, studying the darkness for her shape. A despotic full moon had insisted upon too many truths through the kitchen windows the night before and now the coming dawn sobers him. Where is she? He picks up his sword too tightly, the only way to hold anything when his hands are like this. A thread of dusk at the kitchen door tattles. Fear floods into that emptiness in his blood. Unjustified perhaps, but reflexive and welcome as it deadens the ache behind his eyes. It does nothing for his hands, however. Outside in the yard, crickets cling to night. Latent dew hangs upon the air. Perched atop the paddock fence is a black cocoon, pale legs tucked up, toes curled around the split middle rail. Cullen leans beside her. “Bad dream?” She’s all washed out, the brilliant copper of her hair and blue of her irises and the tan of her freckles all shades of black and gray. “I don’t know,” Rose whispers. A finger emerges from the blanket to push her fringe behind her ear. She sniffs loudly. “I have to discharge the anchor.” Of course. Last time he’d held her back from the ragged edge, his cheek pressed into hers, his hands biting into her as she fought to fling herself into an unreachable unknown. “Could you stay? I’m not sure I trust myself.” Cullen nods. Pinky to pointer to thumb and back. Rose stays on the fence beside him and holds out the anchor. The rift takes the quiet, takes the dawn, that blinding green he wishes he’d never seen. The horses startle where they’re tied off. It could take them if they were free. It could take her too. The dawn returns. Then the quiet. Above him she wipes her cheeks clean. “Every time it feels like another goodbye.” Look after her. The knuckles of her marked hand bounce against her lips. Cullen lays a hand against her back as she’d once done for him in the same early hours, in the same broken down state. Rose quakes beneath his palm like she still teeters at that ragged edge. Could you? Would you? He could. He offers a hand, unsteady though it is. “Come down. Come back.” She takes it and swings her legs over the rail to hop down. A surprised look finds him. Rose unfolds her hand against his as if to feel the tremors. “Is it the lyrium?” she asks. Cullen nods. She squeezes— gently at first, enough to make the shaking stop, but then harder, shuffling into the waiting hollow between them. “It’s the emptiness. I keep waiting for it to fill in.” Instead of his lips, he presses his cheek against her hair. Same.

like to me. they 100% designed davrin to be the alistair and cullen of veilguard. he's incredibly gorgeous and hot. hot voice too. has that whole tortured "i should've died" arc. they gave him that little turkey pet. the way he flirts with rook makes my toes curl. he has that fanservice workout scene

if davrin were not black i feel like ppl who couldn't get into veilguard would be into it bc they have another white warrior man to fixate on

Late WIP Wednesday

Currently working on these two. Kinda. I haven’t decided on the lighting in the top one yet, I’ve just been messing with some new brushes and experimenting with blending modes.

The first picture is of my Alistairmancer, Rajlin Mahariel. The scene has Raj, ambassador for the new Wycome city council, at Denerim castle protecting king Alistair from a Venatori ambush, 9:42 Dragon. I’m not keen on her hairstyle yet, that will be a little tweaked later. I would like to do a comic of this scene, probably all in greyscale. Someday haha.

Second picture is of Saoirse Hawke and Fenris. She’s not actually hurt, it’s just a symbolic portrait (though I should draw a picture of Fenris picking her up after the battle with the Arishok and calling her foolish. Cool moment for Hawke to walk away from the battle like they do in the game, mine did not ahah! bleeding out in spirit healer). Anyway, I don’t think I, sold on the way Fenris looks, it’s only my second time drawing him. I think….. I also want to show him growing out his hair, so I’ll probably change that (I love him with long hair!)

I’ll be working on the third edition to my Heroes of Thedas portraits soonish. Bet you can’t guess who it is next.
