REBLOG IF IT'S OKAY FOR ME TO BOTHER YOU IF YOU'RE MY MUTUAL
i want to talk about reciprocating in roleplay.
everyone wants to receive messages, or questions, or memes in their inbox. people want to be interacted with and appreciated and sent things at all times. but in order to receive these things, you need to send them in return.
many people are very passive in their approach to rp, in that they sit and wait for people to come to them and donât take any initiative. i understand that anxiety can make this difficult, but you canât expect people to send you things and take the first step every time, and not do any of the same yourself. if you want interaction, you need to prove to people that youâre willing to put as much effort in as they do, or why else should they bother?
if you want people to send you questions, send some of your own. if you want people to send you memes, send some of your own. and not purely as a reactionary effort, but if you see a mutual on your dash reblog a meme, send it. soon enough, people will see that youâre interested in writing and they will reciprocate.
you canât sit and wait for people to come to you, because thatâs never going to work out. you need to prove that youâre invested in your interactions first and the rest will follow.
@damselledove sent "đ+ 77" and while ghettoparasitt is an absolute masterpiece of a song, I saw no way to use it for a starter. So I cheated and put on shuffle and clicked next instead. And I got Begin Again (Taylor's Version). So here we go. Also: I recognize that itâs very much a shippy song, but I also like the idea of Shireen unlearning seeing herself through her motherâs eyes as opposed to having left a shitty ex, and friendships good.
Shireen stopped and looked in the window of the coffee shop, taking in the reflection of herself, hair pulled out of her face and into a ponytail. She tried to ignore the voice of her mother in the back of her mind, pointing out how it makes her scars more apparent. She was wearing a chunky knit sweater that Selyse would hate, but it was comfy and warm, and if looked really nice with the lip gloss Sansa had helped her pick out last week. Lip gloss was another no in Selyse Baratheon's book. It brought too much attention to her unfortunate condition, but Shireen was half a country away at college, and trying really hard to unlearn the habits her mom had taught her.
After a deep breath and another look in the window she opened the door to the coffee shop she and Sansa had agreed to meet at for a hot drink before Christmas shopping. She spotted the other girl right away and headed over to her table.
"Hey, I'm sorry I'm a bit late, I'm still having a hard time with bus tables here," she said, blushing ever so slightly. She had already texted Sansa as soon as she realized she'd be a few minutes late, but she apologized again anyway.
send đ+ a number 1-100 for me to make you a starter based on my spotify wrapped playlist.
Thinking about modern Arya and Shireen being friends and helping each other feel beautiful. Shireenâs never felt beautiful because of her scars (and her family being very concerned with how that has ruined her beauty), and Arya has her complexes from Sansa calling her ugly (and Cat never disagreeing) as she grew up.Â
It starts with Arya aggressively calling Shireen pretty, and at first Shireen gets almost insulted, but after a bit she realizes that Arya means it. It takes her a while to realize that Arya also needs to hear how pretty she is, but when she does she makes sure to tell her on every occasion.Â
They donât always believe each other, but some days they do, and itâs marvelous.Â

He stares at her for a long moment, eyes glazed over in thought, before the second son of Winterfell glances down at his broken legs, and then at the Princess. An alliance, Robb had suggested to her father.
A love match, Bran had insisted on finding. But to hear her speak of it... Bran Stark shakes his head, auburn hair swishing with it. âFalse. I care nothing for your claim. If Iâd.. had half a chance at offering it, I wouldâve married the daughter of the Neck. My brother wanted an alliance with your father. What I want?â He pauses. He cannot be a gallant knight for her, he cannot be much, he is afraid. âWhat I want is to be a good husband to you. A friend, if not your lover.â She is not ... very pretty, but under the greyscale is shining eyes, with a storm beneath them. A smile that captivates his attention. A girl who reads and will speak with him of knights and heroes so long as heâll speak of her heroines.
âYour claim is your own. I make no moves for it. Not now, or ever.â
She looks at him. Her father wants this, Robb Stark wants this, and in that she supposes the decision is already made. She could oppose it, sure, but what reason would she have to do so? Shireen never believed she would marry out of love in the first place. She grew up certain she would marry some old lord who wanted the alliance with her father bad enough that he wouldnât mind that she was ugly. Bran is... not that, and perhaps that is why this is so difficult. Bran is more than she could have dreamed of, and she wants him to like her. Maybe that is why she was so blunt right off the gate. She doesnât want to come off as naĂŻve enough to think this is anything more than strategy.Â
She sighs, a soft, gentle sound and runs a hand through her locks. âA friend,â she says, her lips forming into a small smile. âI would like that, my lord.â A friend who isnât her fatherâs advisor who probably pitied her as much as he loved her or her cousin who played with her out of proximity more than anything else and who ... no, she wonât think of where he might be now.Â
âYour chivalry and respect for my claim is appreciated, however as my husband it will be yours, whether you are out for it or not.â This is a manâs world, but she is okay with that. âI am sorry you cannot have your daughter of the Neck, but I will try to be a good wife for you."
i was alone so long     i didnât even know that i was lonely                   out in the cold so long              i didnât even know that i was cold                      turned my collar to the wind                       this is how itâs always been
@greyscaleheirâ
The wooden door loomed, forbidden, at the far edge of the room, and Royce stared at it in thought. Behind it was both their fathers; the muffled voices of two grown men drifted incomprehensible into the living space.
âSometimes I wonder what goes on in that office, but I never ask,â Royce remarked. Deep down, subconscious perhaps, he felt that prying when it came to his father would open Pandoraâs box. âDo you ever get curious about what your father does?â
Shireen looked up at the other guy. So far her gaze had been fixed at either the floor or her own fidgeting hands, now she dared look at Mr. Boltonâs son. At home yesterday she had dared to daydream about this strange kid wanting to be her friend, but now that felt almost impossible. He talked to her though, so he had to at least not hate her, right?Â
âI ask sometimes,â she chimed in, looking over at the door. âWhat he tells me sounds rather boring to be honest. I think there is a lot of paper work and talk about money and infrastructure.âÂ

âI will find strength in pain.âÂ
aclashofmusesâ:
DESPITE her unfortunate condition, renlyâs niece is a sweet girl. he wonders sometimes if he truly is of stannisâs making; someone so kind and pleasant to be around â and itâs not as though she gets those traits from her MOTHER.
âAND i, you.â he promises with a smile. if truth be told, his nieces are perhaps the only family of his heâs like to STAND ( and tommen, a soft boy, but nevertheless a step-up from joffrey ). âi come bearing gifts to make up for lost time.â
Shireen, usually a very dutiful girl, will drop everything for her uncle. He is always good to her, and she appreciates his company. Unlike her parents Renly doesnât expect anything from her, and he appears to love her as she is.Â
As the gifts are mentioned again the girl lights up. Renly always brings the most spectacular gifts, and she is always thrilled to see what heâs gotten her. Today is no exception. âWell what are you standing there for then?â she says teasingly, a tone she doesnât usually let out to play. âI would love to see what youâve got.âÂ
HIS brother and good-sister are far more conservative when it comes to the finer things than renly, and heâs sure that stannis will be DISPLEASED by the gifts heâs brought for shireen, but displeasing stannis something renlyâs all too comfortable with from having done all his life. an ornate little jewelry box and a rather elegant new gown; the girl is unfortunate enough with her condition, the least uncle renly can do brighten her life a bit.
HE interrupts her studies, another thing for stannis to scold him about later, and smiles.  âthis looks like such fun,â he leans against the door frame, holding his wrapped presents in his hands.  âbut iâm dismissing the maester for you, shireen, you have far more pressing matters that needs be attended to. opening gifts for one.â
@greyscaleheir
Shireen was in the middle of studying then the familiar voice of her uncle rings through the room, tearing the little girlâs attention from the map she had been studying. Shireen always tried to be a good student, eager to impress her father, but no matter how she twisted and turned it her uncle was more fun.Â
âUncle!â She grinned, practically jumping out of her chair. She stopped midway through her first step towards Renly, and shot her maester an apologetic smile. âI will memorize all the castles for next time,â she promised before turning back to her uncle. Knowing Shireen to be a dutiful girl the maester knew sheâd keep her word, and so he quietly packed up his things.Â
âIâve missed you so much, uncle!âÂ

TECVM·VIVERE·AMEM·TECVM·OBEAM·LIBENS
There was no hint of a storm the night his daughter was born, so his wifeâs cries carried through the corridors and echoed around empty rooms. It was only natural for a laboring mother to yell, Stannis told himself as he paced and sat and rose to pace again. The folklore gave that the louder the cries of the babe and the mother, the healthier the child would be. The father was barred from the birthing room â Stannis thought it ridiculous â he had been between Selyseâs legs long enough to conceive the babe; why he was not allowed to be present for the fruiting of the union was one of those petty little practices he abhorred. But he wasnât going to fight about it. He had a suspicion that Selyse was relieved her husband would be nowhere near. When they finally put Shireen, scrubbed and pink â though was she a bit pale? â in his arms, he looked a question at Selyse exhausted on the pillows. Sheâs fine, Stannis. And so their life as parents began.
â
He had never heard Shireen cry, even at her birth. Selyse had shouted enough for the both of them, the midwives teased, though they teased less and less and then not at all as the little girlâs skin greyed and cracked. But she was strong, was Shireen, and better, she was unwilling to yield. Shireenâs blue eyes narrowed like her fatherâs when she suspected someone would stand between herself and something she thought she should do for herself. It drove Selyse mad that everything took four times as long as it should due to a headstrong babe whose first full sentence was âMe do it!â But Stannis was proud, so proud he sometimes thought it was a sin. Though he tormented himself with guilt that he had somehow caused her greyscale, somewhere deep within he knew she was right when she said she would find a cure or find someone who could effect one. Though Selyse and the rest of the household were shocked when she recovered, Stannis was stoic. His look was one of unconcern, but in his head he was still hearing her tiny voice saying âMe do it!â
â
At her wedding, they danced: Shireenâs shining head agleam somewhere down near the crook of his elbow. She was never tall enough to reach his shoulder. He had to lean down to embrace her, that awkward crouch to look into her eyes always worth it. Her groom was not a tall man â like his father, Devan was a man of slight stature â Shireenâs head fit into the fresh shaven crook of her new husbandâs neck intimately as though she were smelling him and enjoying it. Stannis looked away, proud, feeling intrusive â this woman in the golden glow of her sensuality could not be his daughter â but she was. And the young man in her arms had been Stannisâ son long before the betrothal. This simple, joyful ceremony only made it all official.
â
Stannis did not weep at her deathbed â he had not the energy. He could only sit and watch her face, smoother in repose than in life. He did not quite know why he had outlived his babe. It was unnatural, he said to himself. His own wife had passed long ago; his best friend also; his brothers, their sons. Shireen had lived to be over seventy and her children were now grandparents. She died peacefully, a widow and a mother, with all her loving family around her. But it was her father who sat longest after she was gone, holding her hand that grew chilly in the twilight.
âMy child is gone,â he murmured to the windows and the grey air outside.
âYou have done your duty,â he heard the night reply.

For Stannis Week â17, âStannis the Fatherâ
Shireen Baratheon⊠The Stagâs Daughter. Forged by war, fury, and the true steel. Thwarted death, disease, and underestimated them all. Her father would be so proud.Â
