something that the show managed to touch on in its single season that i felt was underexplored in the books was how the problem has created generations of traumatized former child soldiers. there's lucy's supervisor drawing his rapier on her in the first episode when she goes to warn him that something's not quite right and startles him, coupled with his alcoholism. there's the agent lockwood knew who became a relic man when his talent started to fade and he was discarded by deprac once they had no use for him anymore. a really interesting expansion of what was already there in the source material, and it makes the problem even more horrifying.

crying because lockwood & co and the theme of trust

of trusting in people, even if they don’t seem particularly strong or brave or even good to everyone else. trusting them despite their past, and in doing so, giving them the opportunity to be worthy of it.

maybe all they’ve been waiting on was someone who didn’t write them off.

Shoutout to Lockwood hiring Kipps as a major step in deciding to live ‼️ Knowing Kipps was just overprotective of agents and that’s what bothered him about Lockwood ‼️ Realizing Lucy wanted him alive and literally hiring a guy to call him out for being reckless ‼️

Shout out to Kipps for beefing with a teenager and immediately shelving his pride to work for and nearly die for said teenager ‼️

lockwood & co at the beach: some thoughts

lucy: hair wild from salt water, in a blue tankini that hugs her hips and shows her belly. her shoulders and nose get freckled in the sun. she loves swimming and boogie boarding.

george: brings an enormous stack of books for “light vacation reading” and sits in a chair, losing himself in whatever his current interest in. if flo’s there, he’ll leave his books to birdwatch with her and tell her what he knows about the shells and objects she found. his swimsuit trunks are in poor taste and often sag dangerously low.

lockwood: sunglasses, swim trunks with little pink flamingoes all over them, carrier of the beach bag. he says he likes to sunbathe but this boy is PALE. i mean, white as a ghost (no pun intended)—and he burns like nobody’s business.

holly: always sporting the cutest bikini tops with a swim skirt, sparkly sunglasses, hair that somehow still looks good even on the beach? (lucy can’t stand it) she actually likes to sunbathe and brings healthy snacks and lemonade for everyone.

kipps: paleness second only to lockwood, but he usually wears a rashguard. he also gets all the freckles ever, and can be found collecting seashells or taking pictures of his friends
