why did you choose this specific character/s? : grimm rose lives in my head rent free, so that kind of pushed me to make this specific blog. i also genuinely love the exploration of ruby as a grimm, especially given her silver eyes. i’ve seen a lot of angsty grimm!au art and i thought i could put a spin on that, and deliver a muse that is indeed a grimm-hybrid but is also just a huge fluff ball

Ruby could only sit and study his expressions, her own face cold and calculated, a stark contrast from the normally bubbly upkeep she kept. Grimm-hybrids were dangerous. Admittedly, before this very moment, Ruby was the only Grimm-hybrid she'd ever known, but even then she knew that in the deep recess of her mind, hidden behind silver eyes and unfathomable hope, was a deep hunger. A burning for negativity and destruction.

This was not just Clover, the capable Huntsmen appointed head of Ironwood's Ace Operatives. This was something more-- something with that same hunger that Ruby feared would consume her one day.

She had to be careful.

"Your hard work?" Ruby paused, looking around the decimated area. Behind her mask, her eyes widened. This couldn't be true-- surely Clover didn't... do all this. And yet, Ruby knew it was more than in the realm of possibility. She had to think fast, be smart about her next move, and all those that followed after.

"Hmm... nope." A grin followed, if it wasn't already apparent that that was a lie, her expression would surely give her away. "I don't know what you're talking about." Ruby had no intentions of fooling him, but she had full intentions of confusing him. That was all she could think of, to potentially buy herself some time.

"Anyways, uh, what have you been up to?"

This was a disaster.

Smoke twisted through ruined buildings, remnants of belongings- clothes and blankets and tattered photographs- lay scattered across cobbled streets. All that was left, now, of Mantle; abandoned and tattered memories. 

Clover closed his eyes, soaking up the despair that coated the city like a blanket from his perch on a crumbling rooftop, one foot hanging off the end and swinging in the air, a hand resting on the hilt of the sword wrapped around his waist. He was content to wait like this for his next unlucky victim to catch his attention, more than satisfied with his fill of negativity. He felt strong, stronger than he had in life, and the freezing chill of the wind whipping around him and the icy stone under him barely even drew his attention, now.  Freed now from the shackles of silly things like humanity and rules, he could do whatever he wanted. 

The sound of footsteps over cobblestone drew his attention, and his eyes flew open. In one fluid motion, he rose to his feet, following the sound along the rooftop and dropping to the ground, in front of the wayward soul who had wandered too close to death. 

Ruby Rose. 

So the kids had escaped capture, he mused to himself. Interesting.

He tucked that detail away for later and smiled, a sharp, cruel imitation of the warmth his expression had once held. 

“Miss Rose,” he said. “Are you lost? Mantle is a little far gone to be saving.”

Honestly, running off into a burning side of Mantle on her lonesome was probably not one of her brightest ideas, but she'd done it anyways. She needed to make sure there weren't any stragglers around-- the Grimm had already invaded this area quite heavily, so she became the ideal candidate to sneak around the streets.

Grimm didn't attack one of their own, after all.

Ruby's ear slid against the fabric of her hood, still concealed. Although it was sometimes uncomfortable, it kept her undetected as a Grimm when she needed to be around those who didn't know of her... status. They just thought she was some spooky girl in a hood, not a literal beast.

Still, her ear had flicked, picking up on something that her human ears didn't quite hear. Before Ruby could pinpoint the source, though, it made itself known before her. He made himself known before her.

At first, a rush of excitement ran through her. Clover, the leader of the Ace Ops, was okay! She'd heard that he had been murdered, and for a brief moment Ruby believed that a miracle had occurred, and that he was alive and well and...

That simply wasn't the case. Ruby knew this from one glance at him.

"Clover." Ruby spoke curtly, studying him. He was like her-- he was changed, too, but he seemed to be some sort of different breed. Grimm Rose could not sense emotions, but one look and listen at this guy told his tone tried and true. "I'm not interested in fighting you."

Pulling down her hood, Ruby revealed her own ears, her bone-mask, Grimm-traits and silver eyes. She was a package deal, Grimm and Grimm-slayer, all while lacking the fear that one would feel looking at the beast-man before her. "So you're either going to let me by, or I'll activate my silver eyes, and you and I both know that us Grimm don't particularly like that."

It was a total bluff-- Ruby did not have the level of control she boasted having, but Clover didn't need to know that. He just needed to fear her.
