Did a man really die from lung cancer caused by vaping?

Survey says?! probably not.  In fact I have reason to believe the whole story has been fabricated.  There is a news article floating around telling the story of poor Frank Delio, the 17 year old TX Boy who contracted lung cancer from using e-cigarettes.  The story claims that he had used ecigarettes for 11months, and had never smoked before that.  I’m not linking to the article here, as I don’t want to promote it any further.  The article includes a heartbreaking picture of a mourning mother next to her dying son in the hospital.  We are lead to believe that this is Frank Delio and his mother shortly before his death. 

Truly heartbreaking image to say the least.  The problem is one of my subscribers linked me to this Chinese website.  The article on this website is a story about the conflict in Syria, and shows the same exact picture, but with a different headline. 

Furthermore I can’t find anything more about a 17 year old Frank Delio from Texas ( The exact city in TX is not listed in the article ) not a facebook page, not an instagram post nothing. You mean to tell me in 2015 that a 17 year old boy doesn’t have a Facebook page?   The obituaries ( which are public record ) also do not list a Frank Delio dying on February 18th 2015 either.  In the whole state of TX

Sorry everyone for the hiatus. I use Tumblr solely on my smartphone and until the recent update did not have access to the two step verification process. Silly me. There is so much going on in the vaping community that I want to catch up on and share with you all. There's been a lot in my personal life that I owe to vaping. The World’s Top Scientists Just Issued a Surprising Statement on E-Cigarettes

Fifty-three scientists have written to the UN’s World Health Organization Director General Margaret Chan cautioning her not to classify e-cigarettes as tobacco products, which would then lead to stricter regulatory controls on the nascent industry.

The scientists say that e-cigarettes are “part of the solution" to worldwide tobacco addiction.

“These products could be among the most significant health innovations of the 21st century — perhaps saving hundreds of millions of lives. The urge to control and suppress them as tobacco products should be resisted,” they said.

"Policies should be evidence-based and proportionate to risk, and give due weight to the significant reductions in risk that are achieved when a smoker switches to a low risk nicotine product."

Leaked documents demonstrate that the WHO views electronic cigarettes as a “threat” to global health and desires to classify them as regular tobacco products under the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC); 178 countries are party to the agreement, and regulation could threaten some of the $3 billion in worldwide sales posted in 2013. Big Tobacco for once is backing the scientists, insisting the devices allow smokers to have a less-risky alternative. (Major cigarette companies, of course, see e-cigarettes as both a major potential competitor and the future of the industry.)

Access the comment form for the deeming regulation (FDA-2014-N-0189-0001):  FDA Comment Form

Click in the Comment field and copy and paste your comment from Step 1 into the box.

Click in the First Name field and type your first name.

Click in the Last Name field and type your last name.

If you wish to allow FDA to contact you, click to check the "I want to provide my contact information" box. Otherwise, leave this box unchecked. When you check this box, fields are displayed for you to enter your ZIP code and email address.
