what was your character's life like in 2024 ?
mary jane was happy and healthy living inbetween los angeles and new york city , a marriage to peter parker and spider-man meant being secure in oneself : mary jane learned the hard way that she couldn't keep stuffing herself in their apartment. she needed new scenery ! to dive into the little things she found love in outside of her partner. one of those things , was acting. maybe the one consistent in her life. girl continued off broadway , singing show tunes for tourists , spending months in and out of the city while working on her film career. she has two movies under her belt , along with a continuing soap opera. her first big role was lobster man : a cult horror film about a man-eating lobster living in the sewers of nyc , mj starred as the final girl , becoming somewhat of a horror icon a few years after it’s release though it’s original flop in the box office. the second was DOWN IN FLAMES , UP IN SMOKE: directed by QUENTIN BECK ( in disguise ) ― a nine month project about mysterio becoming the hero after being found misunderstood by society. mary jane played the villain’s superheroed love interest and even filled in as spider-man in the last act of the movie. ( totally awkward ) ironically , the film was received well by audiences and critics. after this , mary jane took a much needed break. new york was always mary jane’s home , glitz of hollywood could never void over the passion she carried for peter. the two finally got to relax , you know . . . until the world was literally being attacked and destroyed and peter had to go to space and get not just his dumbass dusted but half the universe too.

at this point in time , no. mj is typically one track minded , the most important thing in the room is usually what she's hyper focused on - and right now , that's just mary jane. she probably has dreams here and there , but they’re not very vivid at all. she wakes up frequently confused about why it had entered her mind in the first place : though , she’s up and shaking it off with no more than an after thought. with time , i’m sure she’ll come to a realization that something is going on.
what are they doing in the year 2012 ?
after high school graduation a few years prior , mary jane decided to pursue a psychology degree while following her friends to empire state university. because of the high cost of classes , mj ended up living with her parents. this of course , took a hefty mental toll , where she ended up throwing herself into extracurriculars ― the theater director funneled mj into the program where she played juliet her sophomore year. this was mary jane’s first interaction with the stage , somewhere mj could step outside of herself. for the first time mary jane could grab attention without unnecessary judgment to her character : she wasn’t noisy and boisterous , she wasn’t too much ― she’s a performer ! it wasn’t until their opening night mary jane felt a true calling , felt her first touch of warmth. she decided shortly after that psychology wasn’t what she was interested , her home life had grown into an unstable one ― so she left. dropped out of school right before her senior year and moved into her own. she’s been working jobs on the fly , filling in at one of the nightclubs in the upper east side at night and working as an event server when scheduled. of course , this was all inbetween auditions , hoping to hit her big break soon enough.
