Mythical Creatures to write about that aren't mainstream:
Wendigo - For those of you who love freezing cold wintry death, this creature is for you. The Wendigo is a death spirit in Native American folklore. It is said to cause an individual to commit cannibalism. Once one has eaten human flesh, they are said to become a Wendigo and stalk others, waiting for them to starve to the point of desperation.
Each Uisge - Some of you may have heard of the Kelpie, the demonic, shape-shifting water horse. This creature is much worse. It lives in the sea and is far more carnivorous.
Draugr - This is basically a Norse zombie. They are monstrous creatures that are the souls of greedy or terrible people that were improperly buried or died during battle without burial.
Djinn - People say that Djinn and Genies are the same. They aren’t but they are similar. Djinn are far more malevolent. They are essentially demons and don’t necessarily grant wishes. They are trickster spirits more than anything.
Tikbalang - This is an anthropomorphic horse. A horse-man, if you will. They are usually benevolent nature spirits, but they like to tease travelers and lead them astray. They have hard spines on their backs that can be plucked. They are wild, though, and to control one, you must obtain one of the spines before they kill and eat you.
Berserker - Another Norse one. Sometimes they are referred to as Werebears, but historically they were Norse warriors who donned bear skins and fought battles in a trance-like state that to some may have seemed like they were demons.
