Another study with Mirage
its been killing me for ages so i can i just say. as a trans woman. that the dr who team absolutely made the right decision in not having 14 regenerate with 13's clothing? that it would've so obviously been the signal for a wave of disgusting, transmisogynistic articles, particularly in the UK's press? especially given that the show's first trans woman of color was being introduced in the very next episode? i've seen people continue to be genuinely mouth-frothingly angry about it for infuriating reasons:
1) 'tradition', sure it's cute to see the new dr who in the old one's clothes for a little bit, but it is not a prerequisite (it notably did not happen in the first one) and it is, pointedly, not more important to maintain a minor bit of continuity than it is to swerve past the big, obvious sign labeled TRANSMISOGYNY ARTICLE WAVE (also those specials are all the better for not wasting time with a scene of 14 clothes shopping or whatever. surely the narrative purpose of having them pick their own clothes is to help establish their character, their aesthetic? 14 is a known quantity. he's david tennant. the question isn't who is this guy, it's why is he back) 2) 'sacha dhawan wore them and looked great!' the entire point of how the master was framed in 13's costume was to induce discomfort in the viewer and make him look feeble, foolish, a literal male invader wearing a woman's clothes. litigating the transmisogyny of this is not the point of this post but it is so obvious that it's meant to be a wrong, perverse thing within the story and the fact that people continually talk it up like dhawan rocked it is going to make me end up on the news and just the general attitude ive seen, 'fuck the haters it would've been free press!'. you're only so blasé about this because you are not transfem, this is just another point on the tardis wiki article to you. you arent going to have to stomach another wave of press mocking women like you, of the public sentiment towards girls like you getting a degree or two worse. and that people are arguing so vehemently for an obvious gate to this happening because it's more important that their favorite sci-fi show maintains a tradition or whatever, for a scene they would've forgotten about a week after it happened while the damage never stops.. it makes me feel sick. have some fucking empathy. just say the toymaker did it, shut up and move on.
YCH commission :-) (My commissions are open! If interested, here's my sheet!)
fat trans girl with a wide bod and big boobs and a little bit of face fur
she's femme btw
It has pockets
forever thinking about that girl at my uni orientation who, after being told to pour out her water bottle before entering an event, looked at me and said "they tell us to stay hydrated and then make us pour out our water, this is like totally kafkaesque" and then poured out what was very obviously an entire water bottle full of whiskey. hope she's doing well.
always remember that chell is canonically* a transgender woman
Transition timeline; 99999 days on Aperture Science homebrew œstradiol
POV you used the phrase "transition timeline" on [tumblr] post about 20-year-old video game models
the ultimate weapon
Happy Pride Month everyone! Remember 4 months ago when the CEO of this platform harassed and chased a trans woman off this website just for posting her transition timeline, then chased her to other social media platforms to continue harassing her, and threatened to call the FBI if she continued disputing the multiple dubious terminations of her blogs that did not violate tumblr's terms of service in any way? And despite tumblr staff insisting that the CEO was acting against their interests, the broad transmisogyny evident in the site's culture and moderation policy has still not been adequately addressed?
Remember that staff is continuing to nuke the blogs of trans women even after all of this. Remember this post when they call this site the queerest place on the internet again this month
It's 2 years later. It's gotten worse. Happy pride month.
people will go "why are you criticizing my behaviors? you're just dividing the community and preventing us from working against the real problem: the system" and then not fight the system
tumblr having a "if your blog gets nuked*, every single image you've ever posted - including those in reblogs on other people's posts, including those that are entirely safe for work - gets permanently deleted from existence and marked with a big 'this image has been removed because it was posted by a yucky tranny' marker" policy should make anyone suspicious if not outright hateful toward staff. but i feel like 99% of people just ignore it or even laugh at it and move on.
*nuked here refers to a specific type of blog deletion. its not deactivation (where someone deletes their blog themselves) or getting terminated (where all your images and post still exist and can still be circulated). its specifically a special type of deletion with no appeal available and suspiciously often used against trans women or other minority groups. and it permanently wipes your blog and any reblog additions you ever made, replacing everything you ever posted with the big fat mature content label.
The phrase "TME/TMA is just asking for your genitals in a woke way!!!" exposes a few things
I mean, first off, you can have a penis if you are tme AND if you are tma. Same goes for having a vulva. THIS part exposes two things
they, the people who parrot this, are mixing up tme and tma with transmasc and transfem. if this was the purpose of tme/tma we would simply always say transmasc/transfem. but no, TME crucially contains all cis people and a lot of trans people who dont necessarily identify as transmasc but were not CAMAB. And TMA includes all trans people CAMAB, even if they may not identify as transfem. It is focusing on the oppression rather than what specific labels a person may use.
They're forgetting TMA people can... get bottom surgery. Wonder why that is. Wonder why they're reducing people affected by transmisogyny to an approximation of their genitals at birth. Surely it's not the... transmisogyny they're affected by???
But the main reason people say this lies in the full sentence:
3. they wanna accuse TMA transfeminists of being evil pervert creeps because they are transmisogynists :/
this works in theory until you get to nonbinary people. like, if you ask a nonbinary person if they’re tme or tma, that’s basically just asking about whether they have a penis.
did you like, read the post
pissing on the poor doesn't begin to cover it anymore
in general i think it's kind of worse than useless to always fall back on this assumption that people are being "tricked" into being mras or twerfs or white supremacists or usamerican jingoists etc. etc. when you can ask the question "how do they stand to materially benefit from this hate movement" and 9/10 times find a very easy answer
pet peeve that happens more often than you would both think and want
[image description: a four panel comic of a blank grey person, a blank blue person, and the artist's sona, doc, an axolotl with glasses. in panel 1, doc and the grey person are looking at the blue person, who is saying "hi i am male character with a complex about my identity. i am miserable and forcing myself to be something i'm not. transgender imagery keeps being associated with me especially in scenes where i'm most sad and/or angry about my identity, which is male. even if i hate it. even if it's painful." in panel 2, doc is thinking of an egg over a trans flag while the grey person says "omg transmasc king". in panel 3, doc's thought bubble pops as he quickly looks over at the grey person with a baffled expression. in panel 4, doc, still baffled, looks back over to the blue person, who is saying "i cannot stress enough that i am so unhappy with who i currently am and who i currently am is male". end id]
hey do you guys like my new outfit
[image description: three drawings of doc wearing an oversized shirt. in the first, he is showing the front of the shirt, which says "i did not nor have i ever said that you specifically are not allowed to ever headcanon any male character as transmasc and the fact that so many of you assumed that says more about you than it does me". in the second, he is showing the back of the shirt, which says "lots of you could benefit from taking a second to assess why you feel so threatened by the idea of a character that you enjoy being transfem and also consider how one's biases can bleed into all aspects of one's life including how they enjoy and engage with media". in the third, he is lifting up the shirt to show off short shorts that say "some of you are just misogynists though". end id]
