“Of course you’d treat this like a trip down Route 29.”
Those unfamiliar with the ways of the Catcher might only hear the scold in the words, a haughty insistence that such new and unstable research be taken seriously. She was, after all, that Super Serious Gal that only a few years prior could be caught wagging her finger after a pair of troublemaking boys in the midst of any kind of danger that might surround them.
But for him, the sun of their celestial pair, only warmth and excitement could be found glittering in steel blue eyes as they whirled to meet his.
Crys was hardly able to contain herself ever since Professors Elm and Oak had approached them with the information from Interpol, and the stack of papers she all but dropped with a thunk! on the table between them was a testament to all the preparation she’d been possessed to get done as soon as they confirmed their new adventure.
“Then we’re in good hands!”
Briefly her gaze drifted to the psychics they’d gathered for this important task. Porrima rested nearby, the dutiful Xatu gazing unblinking towards the sky in that manner Crys knew the motherly avian to be scanning in her own way with her psychic power, but never drifting far from the other two, almost like a mother bird ready to send off her nestlings. For little Gothi, this was going to be a big step for her. Crys paused, just long enough to run an encouraging hand over the top of the violet creature’s head, before swiping up the top page from her uniquely organized pile.
“I heard that someone local managed to get ahold of one of the creatures that can open the wormholes, so when we’re ready, we’ll meet up from there as our start point.”
It was obvious that the Catcher was all but physically restraining herself from expressing the envy in how she pursed her lips, staring hard at the line of text that listed the names “Solgaleo” and “Lunala” under classification numbers that the directory had listed for these strange Ultra Beasts. But it was a consolation that they’d be supplied with special “ultra balls” to aid them in their quest, and a balm on her pride as a catcher.
“There’s a thousand and one questions left to answer though, with how new this development as been, and we have to take care to document our findings even – or maybe even especially – while we explore. You read the files on Ultra Beasts, right? Incredible stuff, I still can’t believe they declassified all of that for us. Do you think there’s much by way of control we’ll be able to do once we’ve entered the wormhole? Is it restricted to dimensions or is there an element of time distortion? Oh, if only Silver were able to come! His history with theoretical physics would have offered so much extra insight. We’ll have to bring him something back.”
“Granted, Interpol doesn’t typically work with civilians in this way, so there’s the mystery of how deep this could also run if it’s monitored so heavily by the global authorities. They deliberately may not have wanted him to look through all this classified information. Which is a shame considering everything he could offer to an expedition like this, there’s no doubt something troubling could be working in the background. I wouldn’t put it above anyone we’ve encountered before to have been enraptured by the notion of cross-dimensional travel. I mean, who wouldn’t, right? On the other hand, I doubt that the technology to maintain it without the special circumstances we’ve been offered have even had a chance to be studied outside of the means of Interpol, so perhaps-”
Any such continuation would find itself stunned into haphazard and mushy silence (well, not so much silent) as his eager lips immediately seized her cheek in an abrupt kiss. Doled with pokepuff-fulls of affection and contentment. Eager as he was to see her excited, the encyclopedia wide explanation could find itself using a slight break. So why now throw his dash of impulse into the mix to be such a stopgap? It also just feels good as all hell to let this superstar know that she’s gonna be finding appreciation in all facets.
As a matter of fact, that pride also went to him, as a disbelieving stare of one of the security branches spotted them amidst such a move. While he certainly plays the predictable suit and minds his business, once behind the duo, a small locket with their own specific sweetheart would be sought and doled over while giving a lonesome sight.
Long term jobs just sucked like this sometimes.
Not for Gold however! He edges back, beaming towards her as a boyish smirk settles on his features. “Whooooa there tiger, we’re gonna be needing every lil pinch of that processing power for what’s ahead!”
Gold most certainly was treating this as trip down a journey to once reviewed domains. The tropical atmosphere manages to beat out the sterile atmosphere any official building would usually keep. It was a trait of Alola that never failed in just bringing forth this sense of belonging, as if he could make a whole damn get away home here. A quick moment is taken to mull over her constant wonders as they remain comfortably stationed within the preparation decks. Explotaro as the primary vanguard found himself stationed by the entryway, contently vibing, finding a sense of serenity as the extended family of Pokemon and people before him.
Luckily, home always succeeded to follow him wherever he goes. This lifestyle of constantly being on the road was a welcomed adjustment.
Timpani on the other hand.. This whole spiel about time distortions and alternate realities managed to kick an anxious nerve. If their latest adventures involving global megalomaniacs had anything to say in terms of involvement, to be literal planets and planes away from their Earth, the very earth that she managed to get a lifelong synch with when it comes multiple energies that offered a content mood and potentially run into worse? Well, she has every damn reason not to be happy!
Togetaro, who remained by Xatu couldn’t resist outwardly snickering at her plight. She was so much fun to spook for a reason!
Gold briefly busies himself looking at the beautifully drawn out files that lay before his eyes. He was giving it partial attention at best, her words being a bigger primary to roll around in his mind.
“Hell, if anything, how deep can it go at this point? The guy would’ve been ready to have nothing but friction to these suits anyways. Shoot, I’m a good moments away from wanting to sling their ties a lil tighter on ‘em. That perpetual sensation of feeling watched is why I hate these damn places.”
“But yeah, I gave things a good run over. Best info out there to get our partners all set. ..All the paperwork though is just too formal, makes ‘em sound way overblown then they actually may be, a good feel of spirit on the other hand as we encounter ‘em? I’m sure that’ll be a proper concrete judge.”
...Hm. Not a half bad question.
“Ahhh, maybe. Given that briefing they offered up earlier, they’ve lost over five years of sleep tryin’ to get the fine details covered. S”might be why the psychics are pivotal, a less wild and taxing way to move in that space..” That was the best conjecture Gold could draw up in the current moment anyways. Easing up his arm from Crystal’s shoulders, he takes that moment to go through the offered lockers of supplies, plucking out the required rations, health items and a fine variety of Beast Balls to stash up into his stock.
“Ah! And a gift for that stick in the mud? If all that alternate junk is true, maybe a remix of his fav show is out there. We’ll snag him that and a couple-a snacks.” Crystal was absolutely right, he was treating this like they were heading to a different town!
He forwardly does the same for Crystal’s locker, getting the necessary materials before bringing them back to table, in particular, gathering these internet-y looking pokeballs, holding up the pack to her.
“If anything Crys.” A knowing smile-smirk blooms. “I think they have to get ready for the #1 fan here, you. I always knew you were a starry gal, and hell, I love my shock n’ share of adventures too. It’s a first that I’ve seen you go to snooze so automatically..”
“Made it hard for me to even sleep a wink, that hype of yours is pretty infectious when ya get in the zone there.”
