The dream mostly involved a friend and I (and maybe my little sister??) standing in this bougie ass restaurant that barely had any lighting.

I turned around, and there was this guy, who I assumed was just a weird cosplayer (he wasn’t, it was THE actual Afton) standing there in silence beside to the dining tables. I couldn’t remember anything else about the dream, but something about it stuck with me.

Love an asshole Henry Emily who's kinda toxic. Love it when he has a bit of an ego and a manipulative streak in him. Like maybe he thinks of himself as a god on some level. Maybe he knows damn well that he's brilliant and built up a quiet superiority complex about it over the years. Maybe he's not much of a businessman and lacks people skills because he's never had to rely on anything else but his engineering prowess to get somewhere in life.

Maybe his workaholic tendencies and the incredibly high standard he holds for himself transfers over to the expectations places on the team of engineers and technicians under him. Maybe he's the one agreeing to impossible demands and unrealistic deadlines on their behalf because a part of him believes that his work should consume as much of their lives as it does his own. Maybe he stretching himself thin by inserting himself at every step of the process because he's never learned to trust anyone else to be competent at their jobs, to the point of neglecting his duties as a co-owner, a husband and a father. Maybe trying to be everywhere all at once culminated in those "multiple simultaneous springlock failures" talked about in the fnaf 3 tapes.

Maybe he hid behind William being "the businessman" of their partnership, not only because he was more proficient at running the company, but because he knew William could be ruthless in ways he couldn't bring himself to be. Maybe he turned a blind eye to the dirty business practices—the aggressive manipulation when acquiring a competitor's brand, the policies built around legal loopholes, the willingness to play fast and loose with the lives of employees and customers for the sake of the company— because William was the one to turn his pipe dream into a reality. Maybe he overlooked the redflags that showed up in William's family life, because he knew that there would be no Fazbear Entertainment without him. Maybe he watched William destroy the life of their former friend and business partner while convincing himself that wasn't anything personal— just business. Maybe he gave William free rein of the company, because he decided that William knew everything about business that he didn't while never bothering to learn more than what was necessary to get by. Maybe he hung onto this belief, not only because he didn't want his time being steered away from his true passions, but because he didn't want to be culpable in the company's malpractice.

Maybe he was kinda aware that William was infatuated with him. Maybe he used to feed into it when they were younger, by playing hot-and-cold with him to stroke his own ego. Maybe he felt a little bad about it as he got older, but never tried to communicate this or apologize for it. Maybe he hoped that if he just stayed quiet, William would get over it in time and they could both move on like it never happened. Maybe he didn't want to risk being blamed or their friendship falling apart if he acknowledged what he did. Maybe why he grew to see himself as responsible for William's actions, was because he couldn't help but think that he corrupted him through his own shitty ways. Maybe why he had such a hard time recognizing the ways his friend victimized others, was because he couldn't look past his own remorse over the ways he victimized him in the past.

People can say what they want about SL (Best game, can't believe people hate it??) but Circus Baby's probably the best written character Scott's made and you will not sway me on that. I'm so sorry you got mauled and then lobotomized by the FNAF communities rampant misogyny girl. You were the best reasonably decipherable character.

Yeahhhh, no like it is unfair. I feel like a lot of the female characters of fnaf can be viewed as tragic and victims of misogynistic standards within universe…

but that's also being very generous to the narrative. At some point it's hard to ignore the reoccurring archetypes and tropes. How the ratio of prominent male character vs prominent female character, differences in screen time, etc. Plus the aforementioned shroud of mystery makes it difficult to figure out if they're trying to do a subversion or playing it straight. Also… think scott has a habit of highlighting the gendered struggles of female characters and then just kinda concluding with shrugging his shoulders and saying 'oh well, that's life!' Like, I get that it's supposed to be tragedy, but you didn't have to take on the ✨️Female Experience✨️ then conclude that nothing can be done about it.

For Elizabeth, I wish she was allowed to actually change. Doesn't matter to me if it's for the worst, just that she's able to take in new information and make decisions that will improve her chances of survival in a desperate situation. Like, if Michael can change in between games based on events that happen in the story, why can't Elizabeth? Why must the conclusion of her character be that this five year old is incapable of becoming anything more than a puppet for her abuser? Because both the novels and the games love granting her an adult like intelligence, that's how we get the whole "seductress" angle with her character in the novels and could've with games according to that one casting call. Why can't she use that adult intelligence to think for herself rather than just make her more evil (and sexy apparently)?

And like... It's not that can't work with what we're given in both material! Fourth Charlie is capable of understanding that she was abused! She is very clearly envious of Charlie's life. Sure, she admires her father, but she straight-up says that she hates Charlie more than she loves him! I don't think that love would be so unconditional if he wasn't all she had and her only ticket to living a normal life.

We got to see Circus Baby be the star of her own game. She got to be a villain that was cunning, clever, calculated and ruthless. Yet she's also tragic; her being manipulative doesn't invalidate that. It doesn't mean that everything she said was a lie or that she believed none of it. It just means she knew that being careful with the information she revealed and how she did it would aid her in her goal. It's important to her character to be targeting William specifically, because she's her captor. Of course she'd seek to get revenge on him specifically, or the very least an employee of his. We really don't see any indication that Ennard is dangerous while piloting Mike's body. It's only after their plan fails and they're exposed they become a threat.

And the Baby we see in Pizza Sim can still be the same character as the Baby we see in Sister Location. It just means she changed! She under went character development! Her plan failed and she was abandoned by her peers! Of course she'd come back groveling at the feet of the only man she knows can save her! Of course she'd relent in becoming the thing William wanted to be from the beginning, even if she despises it. Of course, after suffering so severely for a second time for her disobedience, would she conclude that disobedience was the problem. Of course she's much more reckless and impulsive when she's become so desperate after spending decades slowly falling apart. Of course she becomes more childlike again to endear herself to the man she depends on for her own survival. Not even mentioning, god knows what's become of her mind after being flooded with all these painful memories from her past life, if that's what "put together" means. Circus Baby gives Elizabeth/Scrapbaby an extra needed dimension to her character. Elizabeth/Scrapbaby gives Circus Baby a past and future for a character arc that otherwise would've been abruptly cut short.

Thing is it can work but it feels like most the fandom really see her as anything more than an extension of her father's will. And I hesitate to say they're truly wrong because it's hard to tell what even is happening in the games half the time.
