    inhales. sorry for never being here anymore. ;; i don’t wanna be as formal as to put this blog on a hiatus or semi-hiatus, because i’m honestly not sure how i feel?? i might come back, i might not. i’ll likely still check in on occasion, but i’m just..... i have so many blogs. only 3 active ones to be fair, and one other i’m considering making active, but i’ve got college & life (lmao) on the side, too. i just miss some of the people i write with, and onlooking others.      just thought i’d drop by and say this, instead of being a dumb kid & avoiding logging on generally. i still love akaashi, i just haven’t had the inspiration to write above other blogs. >:     if you need me i’ll likely be on:

    “ Hmm? ” How peculiar, that the other would ask Akaashi in particular for assistance. Though, he had likely asked a couple other people by this point. Despite his claiming not to be worried, his own lips purse, brows drawing together ever so slightly. Would finding her whereabouts put him at ease, he wonders - ?

    “ I haven’t. If you’d like, I can help you find her? ” Being an only child, he can’t imagine what it’s like to have to take care of younger siblings. Akaashi only presumes that it must feel like quite a burden.

Akaashi’s shifting went over the captain’s head, his eyes focused on his face and how his eyes were cast downward. Was the request too much? He didn’t exactly invite any of his other friend’s to go places with him for such an extended period of time. In fact, he didn’t pester anyone for the amount of time that he pestered Akaashi for. That thought made him look away, was he too much?

He’d focused on his snack when Akaashi moved to remove the flower, his shoulder slumped a bit as he let his negative thoughts get the best of him. He rubbed his neck when he got a soft response, shaking his head quick.

“Only if you want, ya know? You can say no, I won’t mind. It’s not really like you need my help anyway, right?” he shrugged.

    Naturally, he picks up on what appears to be a vague shift in his friend’s composure. As for what triggered a somewhat irritable air about him, Akaashi is at a loss. Although... he did just pick the flower from his hair, and Bokuto had been the one to set it there in the first place. Peering down contemplatively for a moment, he lifts the flower by the stem and gently - ( carefully ) - tucks it back amidst slightly ruffled strands of hair.

    “ I wouldn’t have said yes if I didn’t want your help, Bokuto-san. ” Though it is true that he doesn’t particularly need Bokuto’s - ( or anybody’s ) - help, it’s not as though he wouldn’t appreciate the sentiment. Rather, he begins to suspect that he wants company. It’s a strange concept, but - he acknowledges - very plausible.

He stayed in his doorway for a moment, feeling hesitant to enter his room. Though Akaashi had put his items up, it was still cluttered and he had a feeling he would have to fix it all. After all, everything had it’s own place in his mind and it wasn’t like the setter knew all these places. He glanced away, telling himself not to let it bug him. There was more important matters at hand. He cleared his throat a bit before finally walking inside and sitting down near the edge of his bed. He just kept thinking that Akaashi probably was looking at him differently and it made him stomach sink.

“Yeah, it was okay. I was just running errands for my mom.” He fiddled with his hands, notes jotted down in pen were proof of this. He glanced over to his friend from the corner of his eyes, looking much like a kicked puppy. 

“And you?”

    Warily glancing back towards Bokuto from the corner of his eye, Akaashi notes that the other seems tense. It seems as though this incident won’t be quite as easily brushed aside as he’d hoped. What exactly was there that he could say or do to make things less awkward between them, though ? Perhaps his friend thought that Akaashi would think of him differently from now on. In which case... perhaps he should be more direct about it.

    “ ...Bokuto-san, about the magazine, ” he hesitates, wondering if that really was the best approach to take, after all. Deciding that it’s too late, anyway, he averts his gaze & allows his eyes to flutter closed-- perhaps in some attempt to escape from his surroundings, yet still remain present. “ I won’t judge you for it, and I won’t tell anyone. ” Both eyes open, then trail back towards Bokuto somewhat anxiously, “ So don’t worry so much. Alright? ”

His heart sank at the initial rejection and the tall blocker let out a disappointed sigh. In truth, Shun was just incredibly lazy when it came to things he lacked interest in… which turned out to be a lot of things including math. With that in mind however, having a study buddy would hopefully mean they’ll get through the work faster. 

“I don’t think I’m struggling with it– I just don’t want to do it. It’s boring. Don’t you feel that way about any subjects?”

    “ Of course I do. ” In all honesty, it’s not as though Akaashi enjoys most of what he’s good at. If anything, the fact that he’s relatively proficient in most criteria is the only thing that allows him to find any of it enjoyable in the slightest. & Though he empathises with the general lack of ‘ want ’ to have to work, he acknowledges that it’s more important that one gets things done and out of the way to make things easier on themselves.

    “ But if you get it over and done with & understand it, then it becomes less daunting. ”

          There was that dreaded question, and he wondered how much truth he’d spill into his answer. However, Akaashi didn’t seem the type to mind, thus far, and he wondered if that was enough. His mouth certainly seemed to think so as he spoke, “No. Almost never. The most I saw my parents growing up were short bursts at a time, usually at dinner, before they’d leave the next day and the maid would tell me where.” There’s a hum as he thought about it.

           “They were always busy with their jobs, apparently… but they never really showed interest in what I did at school, or whether I was staying out of trouble or not… Man, my mom sure liked to brag that I was the best setter in my middle school, though she didn’t care that I hadn’t made any friends.” Eyes scanned the night sky, falling on a set of stars that reminded him of a snake. “I don’t remember if my dad ever spoke to me, other than to make sure I was passing in school. It’s kind of weird calling them parents, honestly.”

    Instantaneously, Akaashi regrets that he can’t bring himself to tell the utter, unguarded truth to the person before him. Sakijima had been completely honest with him, and yet... empathising a tad too strongly - ( with most of what the other told him ) - he simply purses his lips and looks over the vague shifts in expression of the other’s face as he speaks. His own eyes are inquisitive and dark, yet very intentionally blank; unreadable, for the most part.

    “ I see, ” he utters. Gazing back down towards the slightly crumpled page in his grasp, Akaashi notes that he’d been bending the paper awkwardly without having noticed. Attempting to carefully smooth the page back out, he averts his gaze & subconsciously continues, “ I can imagine it’s difficult for you. Though... perhaps it began to feel normal over time; like all families are like that. ” Making sure to hold his tongue, he adds, “ I’m sorry. ”

in shock, he feigns an appalled look, hands curling up together and clutching at his chest, voice is a tad strained, a mere whisper he heaves out, “nonsense.” he can’t deny it, ph d. pepper isn’t the healthiest drink he can have, but it’s the taste that matters. “it’s my favorite drink! i mean … it’s not like i can’t afford it, just. i want to save money.”

    This person really was rather dramatic, wasn’t he ? Akaashi does take into consideration, however, that he doesn’t personally care much for the drink; in that sense, surely he doesn’t understand just how significant this really was to the other male. Perhaps it had some sort of sentimental value ? Or his love for the drink was simply so profoundly strong that... Ah, troublesome. “ Maybe just buy a few for now? In place of buying it in bulk, that is. ”

     Tobio could feel his consciousness laying itself bare as Akaashi laid on the compliments. He received plenty of lauding, sure, but after a while, it started to wear away at his guard and make him shrink into himself–even someone as aloof and dignified as himself knew modesty.

     Long fingers scrunched the sides of his shorts, and he gave a small bow in gratitude for the compliment, trying not to show his forthcoming embarrassment.「 —-I’ve been practicing as hard as I can, so I’m not bad. I think I’m on-par with you, probably. And Oikawa-san. 」

    Similarly, Akaashi is no stranger to overly-emphasised - ( “ encouraging ” ) - pats to the back & compliments when he serves nicely-- or, of course, when he analyses the situation at hand and his course of action brings about a positive response. What he isn’t all-too accustomed to is the concept of being ‘ idolised ’ in a sense; for another human being to acknowledge his talent - ( skills, rather ) - and compliment his general abilities.

    “ I’m flattered that you think my abilities are on par with Oikawa-san’s, and even your own. ” After all, he hadn’t ever thought to perceive it in that light. Was he really that talented-? He dislikes the word talent, because he worked hard to get to this position. “ You don’t need to be thankful of my compliments, however. They’re speculative .”
