Cristiano Ronaldo shares his Golden Boot with his teammates
Real Madrid top scoring charts in Europe’s five major leagues :)
Toni Kroos. Been with Real Madrid only months now. But he has the most impressive pass completion rate of anyone who’s played over four games. 92.6%. No regrets there.
Hey, you. Happy Eid!
Preseason game between Real Madrid and Inter Milan. 1-1 score with a great goal by Gareth Bale. But Milan takes it with penalty kicks. 2-3
Real men stand with Palestine against occupation, aggression, and murder. Thank you Mr. Ronaldo
Couldn't be happier about this !
As you know by now, Germany annihilated Brazil 7-1 during the World Cup semifinals in their own home country, leaving them only hopeful for third place. But those hopes were destroyed as well when third place went to the Netherlands as they win 3-0. An all around embarrassing performance for Brazil, unlike any other tournament they’ve played. It was so bad that some speculate if they were perhaps paid to lose or if something shady happened to lead to such a humiliating defeat. All we know is, Germany will play Argentina in the final game tomorrow for the Cup. Argentina got to the finals only by winning over Holland through penalty kicks. Both teams were too good at defense which seemed to be what they focused on most. As good as Argentina is, the Germans have been scores better playing as a real team. One passes to the other and bam! Goal! They’ve been killer football machines throughout this competition and whether you root for them or not tomorrow, you know you’ll want to watch them play. Will they win it all to take the whole thing? I love Messi, but with the way Germany had been playing, I believe it’s the German’s turn to take that trophy home.
RIP Don Alfredo
Unfortunately been pretty busy the last few days to update properly but as promised the Netherlands/Mexico game was amazing. It was looking good for Mexico up to the end of the game. The Dutch made a very later turn around scoring at the 88th minute and during overtime. Later that day, Costa Rica beat Greece after scoring all the penalty kicks during shoot out after ending the regular game at 1-1.
As expected, France best Nigeria 2-0. The goals also came pretty late at 79 minutes and an own goal from Nigeria at overtime. Later that day Germany best Algeria 2-1. Algeria actually played pretty well. All those goals came during overtime.
Yesterday, Di Maria makes a goal for Argentina during overtime as well, beating Switzerland 1-0.
Now what I really want to talk about. Belgium vs USA. Win or lose, Tim Howard was outstanding. He jumped and dived and practically bent over backwards to stop the ball. Unfortunately, it still wasn’t enough to keep Belgium from beating America 2-1. Every goal came during overtime. But what a thriller of a game! Truly excellent performance from both teams. I'm very proud of America playing so hard.
This World Cup is the World Cup of extra time. Teams have been killing during extra time. What is it about this World Cup that’s making all the excitement happen during extra time? Is it just pure coincidence of teams getting in gear after a scoreless game? Or is it a conspiracy of some sort? What do you think? It is quite interesting.
Eight teams left in the tournament. We will see four of them play on the 4th of July. France vs Germany and Brazil vs Columbia. That first one should be amazing. I’m behind France and Benzema. Who are you rooting for?
Let’s face it folks. This game is going to be amazing. Netherlands has been unstoppable with their brutal offense and Mexico has been strong as a wall with their amazing defense, particularly goalie Guillermo Ochoa. I like to call him, Ninja Goalie. If they draw and go to penalty shoot out like yesterday’s game, Holland has little chance of survival. Let’s tune in today and see who moves on. My money’s on Holland, but this World Cup has been full of surprises so far. We will see.
Such a tight close game it was yesterday between Chile and Brazil. Chile was very strong this year and kept up well with the Brazilian powerhouses. The game was a draw yesterday at 1-1 leaving them no choice but to go to penalty shoutout. Brazil won it 3-2 unfortunately. I would have loved to see the Chileans go further but no luck. Columbia beats Uruguay outright 2-0. We'll see Brazil and Columbia battle it out July 4th.
Still champions to us
So this is where we’re at the past couple of days. England disappoints once again and France surprises with no goals. Happy birthday to Lionel Messi of Argentina and good luck to America today!
Top ranked for group A, Netherlands, wins against Chile 2-0. Chile was on the attack the entire game trying and trying but did not manage to score. Meanwhile, Spain makes a very late and useless comeback against Australia winning that game 3-0, scoring basically every half hour. Where were those skills and fighting spirit earlier on when it mattered? At least they went out showing the world they can still play. Later tonight we will see the group B games and who comes out on top.
