Legends awoken
He couldn’t quite recall when exactly Red came to him. All he knew was there was a voice. And a presence that had become a part of him. At first it had been a shock. Keith honestly thought he was going insane. He’d only told one person. Shiro. Shiro was the only person who wouldn’t call him crazy for this. Even if it was crazy. But what was crazier, it seemed Shiro had been going through the same exact thing!
This presence kept making Keith aware of it. So often it seemed aggravated if he attempted to ignore it. Soon though he could understand some of what that presence felt. They really seemed to mesh and Keith found a certain luxury in having someone there. Even if they weren’t actually there.
But soon that presence became more demanding, intense. As if it was of dire necessity for Keith to find it. That was when Keith realized this was really something larger than himself. This entity was becoming desperate and Keith decided to try to find it. He told Shiro what he intended and of course he wanted to stop him from going. But Keith went without him, becoming angry. It wasn’t as if he couldn’t take care of himself! He didn’t need a babysitter! Besides he didn’t know how much longer he could go on, knowing that voice was attached to a leaving breathing thing. Something that was very upset.
“Come on kid. you’re getting closer. Slowly. Focus! Stop letting yourself get distracted!”
“Yeah yeah shut it already.” Keith had thought he was being sneaky, managing to get out on his own. Even finding a place that just, felt right. Somewhere there was someone waiting for him. He knew the voice was right. He kept thinking back to Shiro, feeling a bit of regret. Of course patience and focus were not his strongest suits. He forced himself to calm. Closing his eyes, slowing his breathing. Soon he could feel it. A warm pulse. Growing stronger all the time. He was close.
There was a rocky outcrop, filled with gaps and holes. As he scanned the area he’d seen a place just big enough that a body could wedge itself into. He’d have to crawl. And it would be a tight squeeze. Something told him he was going to find himself dirty and scraped up. Hopefully he wouldn’t get himself turned into a pancake. He pulled on his gloves and sighed heavily, feeling that bite in his mind. His companion was getting very impatient to be found. He didn’t get why this thing didn’t just force it’s way out and find him.
As he was getting ready to enter the space he heard an all too familiar, not happy sounding, voice. Shit. Shiro.
“Didn’t I tell you this was too reckless?! You have no idea what you’re about to dig up Keith!”
A fired burned in him. He didn’t want to be stopped. And like hell was he going to give up after coming so far. “You hear it too Shiro! You’ve been feeling it and hearing it! Something needs us to find it! I came too far, I’m not gonna leave this thing to sit trapped any longer! Besides. it just....feels like I’m supposed to do this. It feels right.” He turned on his heel, still crouched, eyes meeting Shiro’s gaze. Shiro’s face had gone from angry and worried, to soft. He shook his head and smiled at Keith.
“Well, I’m not going to let you go in there alone. We need to be careful and find both these things together. Who knows if someone else is searching for them.”
As if on cue, footsteps could be heard, both Shiro and Keith turned, Keith stood, hand on his blade and jaw clenching. “Who’s there?!”
