I think it's so funny how we bred JOBS into dogs. I have two shih tzus and they were bred to be lap dogs. All they care about is looking cute and cuddling with people. Meanwhile my grandma has a border collie and that dog needs to feel so useful all the time, he acts like he will pass away if he doesn't have a job to do constantly

On one hand this is extremely fucking funny, but on the other hand, it really boggles my mind how many people punish their dogs for just… doing the thing they were bred to do.

Your husky isn’t “hyperactive”, it’s bred to pull sleds for 8 hours straight and you have it in a 400 sq ft yard.

Your English sheepdog isn’t “pushy”, it’s bred to herd sheep, and you have neither to space nor the herd to allow it.

Your terrier isn’t “nippy”, it’s bred to kill rats and your hamster looks a hell of a lot like one.

Your Catahoula isn’t “mean to animals”, it’s bred to hunt any and all animals smaller than it, and you didn’t acclimate it to your cat.

Your Lhasa Apso isn’t “yappy”, it’s bred to bark at any tiny noise and alert watchmen to intruders

Like Jesus Christ, if you can’t provide an environment where your dog can’t fulfill its literal life purpose, maybe?? Don’t get that dog??? And if you do, maybe know the breed characteristics so you can redirect those traits into more constructive outlets????

Any time someone sees Herschel and says "AWWW I want a Corgi <3" (because he is Very Cute (TM)), I immediately reply: "Do not get a Corgi unless you have a job for it to do. They were bred to bully livestock across the hills of Wales. This is basically a Border Collie that knows he is cute enough to get away with murder. If you get one and it doesn't have a job, it will apply its livestock-bullying instincts to YOU. Herschel's job specifically is to help manage my crippling ADHD, because I don't have a bull for him to micromanage." This gets me odd looks at the home depot but it does get the point across.

Happy autism day to meeee🌻🎊🎂 Today is really important to me so I wanted to make a post to commemorate it! I’m very proud of who I am today and how far I have come since being diagnosed last year. Receiving my diagnosis completely changed my life for the better 🥹

I went 27 years knowing something felt very “wrong” with me, and having no solid answers. I thought I had my answer when I was diagnosed with traits of Borderline Personality Disorder, but that never sat right with me based on what I was experiencing (autistic women are commonly misdiagnosed with BPD).

I used to have obsessive thoughts about my identity, gender and sexuality, and an unstable sense of self (caused by autistic masking). I believed I was a lesbian for years, looked into having my breasts removed as I genuinely believed I was non-binary (I identify as gender fluid today), I cycled through many different “identities”and relationships, and used to abuse alcohol, nicotine and prescription medication. I couldn’t figure out basic things about myself like how I wanted to dress, how I wanted to cut my hair, or what my favourite colour was.

A year ago today I was diagnosed with ASD and C-PTSD (complex post traumatic stress disorder). My entire life finally made sense‼️🤯😭🎉

Autism isn’t a disease or mental illness and it also isn’t curable. It is a neurodevelopmental condition that a person is born with. It is not caused by vaccines or taking Tylenol during pregnancy, and it’s also not a funny, quirky and cute condition to live with.

Autism is recognised as a disability and autistic people all have different support needs, sensory experiences, boundaries, interests, self-regulating techniques, ways of stimming, executive functioning difficulties and so on... So, if you’ve met one autistic person, you’ve only met one autistic person. We are all different and that’s why it’s a spectrum.

if you've made replies on posts there is now a tab on your blog showing every post youve replied to and your reply.

if this is not what you want, either go to your blog and click comments and disable it from there or just go to your individual blogs setting pages. just change it from blue to grey if you dont want everyone to see your replies AND the post you're replying to

PLEASE BE ADVISED that it is set to disabled for blogs that have not made any replies but it will turn ON if you reply with that blog in the future.! i just tested it with my main, which was greyed out but it turned on the moment i left a test reply

figured i'd get the word out bc i have not seen a single mention of this and i'm sure there are plenty of people who maybe comment on things they don't want on display for everyone to see on their blog lol. you can still look at your replies with it toggled off just no one else can, like locking the following and likes list

so for some reason this feature was actually announced on the tumblr engineering blog. interesting choice not to reblog it to the staff or tumblr blog, esp considering they asked for user input on how to implement it, but i suppose considering the response to the last update maybe the replies would be too overwhelming...

so couple of clarifications. comments are disabled as default for primary blogs that have their likes disabled. they are seemingly enabled for all other blogs that have replied to posts

posts you comment on may show on your followers 'for you' page if you leave your replies publically available. they may, in the future, show in on your followers dashboard if your follower goes to their dash settings and enables this. apparently, if your likes are enabled, your followers can already see those on the dash if they've gone into preferences and selected to do so, which I was unaware of, and that seems to be disabled at default, but it's possible i disabled it previously and forgot about it ig
