To the man who gave me my first solo, encouraged me to embrace the gift God gave me, forced me to be social when I just wanted to stay in my shell, met with me after school to teach me how to sight read, and encouraged me in more ways than I can put into words: thank you. Thank you for your ability to get through to 11-14 year old, hard headed, stubborn, abused, no it all me. You were a great leader, a mentor, a teacher, and a friend. You brought laughter to the DARKEST time in my life and there will never be enough ways to say thank you. You encouraged me when I felt like I was the only one who believed in me. You encouraged me to audition EVERYWHERE. You wrote the best recommendations. You listened without judgment to all my problems and you were therapeutic for me. You gave constructive criticism and you were just the best part of every day for 3 years of my life. No more pain, no more suffering. Another 30-60 y/o man of color who has gone home. I love you.
