“D-did you just–” Luigi stared, wide-eyed, as the girl passed right through the wall of a building he’d just been walking nearby, his heart pounding and head feeling dizzily faint. “No. I was seeing things, right? I-I had to have been!”

Dani giggled at the perfect timing of her wall phasing. All she wanted was an easy way to get in and out of the candy shop without anyone knowing. Spooking someone was an added bonus.

“Hey there! Are you alright, you look like you’ve seen a ghost?” Her smile widened at her words.

Dani smiled and walked over to the familiar looking face, waving. “Hey boss, what’s shaking?” What’s better than to start a casual conversation in the middle of the streets with your boss? Who knows, maybe you may get some extra cash or even better, some food.

He’d already done it once before, and this wasn’t going to stop him from trying again. Ghost form on, he was darting for the skies, planning to at least get close to space, but alas it was not to be. Ten minutes timed out, and he fell straight down, crashing into a nearby fountain as his form shifted back to that of a regular teenager.

“Ugh, almost had it. If only I could stay like that longer.”

After how many months in this city, she took great enjoyment in watching newbies come in and be completely lost without their normal abilities. It was fun watching them struggle and force their powers even if there was truly no use. So, people falling out of the sky was a normal event though it was always amusing when it happened in her vicinity.

She walked up to the fountain and chuckled. “No luck on those powers, huh? Ten bucks says you’re new here.”

Hold on. That was a familiar voice and that wasn’t a normal occurrence for her. She paused her playful banter to take a closer look at the newcomer and beamed at who she found.

“Danny?!” She exclaimed, surprised and ecstatic. A much better familiar face than her brief run in with Vlad that one time.

“Whoa, this cape is so cool!” 

Dani says adorning her costume that she wanted to try out and playing with the cape. 

“Why didn’t Danny have a cape on his ghost suit is beyond me!”

“Yeah!!! Let’s go blow something up! That’s always fun!”

She jumped around in excitement and then blasted a ghost ray at a building, creating a giant hole through it.

The girl sure looked scared. Poor kid must have thought he was going to attack her. He frowned a bit, taking his right hand and patting her on the head. It may have seemed demeaning, but his smile said a different story. “ Don’t worry. I won’t hurt you. I was just doing a test. That boulder sure is heavy for me right now. “ Laughing at his own step of weakness. “ I guess you can say that. Although i’m a lot stronger if I had my full power.A rock like this would be too weak for me to train with like this. It would make a good target for blasting practice, but I would simply use my twenty ton weights to practice with instead. “ 

Speaking like a muscle nutjob, the endearing light of his words were captivating to his own naive purity nature. “ What about you? What kind of attack did you use? Never seen a young girl able to change her hair from black to white before. “ 

Dani closed her eyes when she was pat on the head, having not felt this sort of interaction before. It hit her as bothersome and undesirable, but she let it go for now. Shaking her head to fix her hair back in place, she tried to comprehend what he was saying. "So... you're actually even stronger than you are now?" She let her mind wrap around that crazy fact. "That's really cool! That means you have powers too and that those weird science people must have took most of it also!" It always made Dani giddy when she met someone similar to her.

At that inevitable question, Dani let out an awkward laugh. "Oh yeah, you saw that? Well, it's kinda really complicated." Her fingers tapped on the rock as she thought of how to answer. "That green stuff was ectoplasm and I shoot that stuff in a beam from my hands. And the hair?" Another laugh was released and she climbed on the rock to sit atop it. "I'm not able to use my powers unless I'm in my ghost form. I know, it really sucks." She knowledge bombs the guy like what she was saying was normal information.

Almost hitting a thousand, when he saw a green like beam coming straight at him and the boulder he was using to train. On instinct, the saiyan quickly shifted the boulder to his right hand, holding it as he stepped to the right, making the blast miss the boulder and look over to see…a kid? A young teenage girl of white hair had fired some sort of energy blast at him. A Attack? Was he being challenged? Smiling, he looked to her as he then looked at the boulder. “ So you wanna play huh? Then let’s see you do it when it’s moving at you. “ 

A step….a walk…and now a full on dash. This man, with a boulder about the eight of a thousand pounds, was dashing at the girl chuckling a bit before he approached her near the bush. “ You can blast things huh? But can you lift it? That’s the different in a act of attacking. “ He said, a bit confusing but he then placed the boulder down next to him, smiling big. “ 1000! Now then, you got my attention. Wanna try lifting it? “

Dani was terrified for a moment at the guy’s reaction. She thought she pulled herself into a fight that she couldn’t win. She was scared for her life when he ran toward her, trying her best to anticipate what he would do. So, it caught her off guard when the guy didn’t actually attack her back. He could have threw it right at her for all she knew!

Ignoring what in the ghost zone he was saying, cause she had no clue at all, she just returned a smile back at him. He was smiling. That was a good sign that she was probably not going to die today. 

She eyed the huge rock. “Uh yeah. I’ll pass. I don’t think I can do that.” She placed her hand on it, leaning against it. “But I got a question. How are you able to? Is that like a normal thing that you can do or something?”

The orange gi dressed warrior, right in the large amount of green plant life around him, was lifting a one thousand pound boulder, of solid rock the size of at least half a truck, above his very head with one arm. Squatting up and down, and by the count he was reaching the one-thousand mark of his squat sets! What was this man? No one else was as brass about training then son goku himself.

“ 994…..995! “

The boulder’s weight alone was causing the ground under his feet to crack after such long duration of lifting the boulder up and down above him. Noticing this, he took a few steps forward, breaking the ground to stand a bit further ahead so he would not make a hole. “ Alright…..996….!”

Dani watched in awe, not believing at all what she was seeing. A regular human, that's what he looked like to her, was raising that giant rock up and down! It was absolutely crazy and she thought it was impossible. She hadn't tried that before, she wasn't crazy enough to try, but it looked really difficult even if she still had her powers.

Well, she did still have a small portion of her powers. Dani thought hard as she studied the guy's face. He didn't look too scary and mean, though he was ridiculously strong. A grin played on her face at her grande idea to mess with the man.

"If he's gonna show off in the middle of the park like that, then I'll show off too!" She states to herself from where she stood behind the bush.

After changing into her ghost form, she charged up an ectoplasm beam from her hands and then shot the green ray right at the boulder.

She giggled at the fact that the bush she was hiding behind was burnt to a crisp and that there was a small whole that was made right through the rock. Still weak but nice to know she still had it in her.

“I guess haunting boxes is a bit of a mundane pursuit for a ghost, huh?” Norman couldn’t help but to agree, hands tucked into his pockets as he heard out the rest of what Dani had to say. Not just a half-ghost…but a clone as well. All the oddities contained in Hive City couldn’t be overestimated.

“Well either way, I gotta say that’s pretty cool… So you can do all the normal ghost things, right? Like…move through walls? Or– or turn invisible?” The questions kept coming in spite of himself. After all, it wasn’t every day you made an acquaintance with such a specimen.

“Oh, I’m Norman by the way. Norman Babcock. It’s nice to meet’cha.”

"Of course I can do all of that stuff! What kind of ghost would I be if I couldn't?" Dani chuckled to herself. An actual dead half ghost girl would be the answer since she wouldn't have been able to defend herself.  Or Vlad would have gotten rid of her as soon as possible. But, she shouldn't think about that.

"Yeah. Let's see what I can do... I can turn invisible, phase through stuff, fly, shoot green beams from my hands and I'm pretty strong." She lists off, counting each one with her fingers. She skips the possessing people power. That one wasn’t important. "Yeah, all that. But, I can't at the moment because when I got to this place they took away most of my powers. It kinda sucks." She explains.

"Norman, cool. I'm Dani. Dani Phantom. So, how do you know about this ghost stuff?" She asks.

A real ghost, or, that’s what Dipper had said. She’d met ghosts before (they’d possessed her), and all sorts of other creatures too. So, she wasn’t too surprised that similar folk existed in this city. After all, this city was plenty weird itself.

But, that didn’t mean she wanted to meet everyone she could, especially if they worked at the Mystery Shack! Thus, with Waddles and three candy bars in tow, the girl set off to find her employee. Even if she was a ghost girl, it shouldn’t be that hard, right?

“Now, if I was a ghost on break, where would I go…?”

Who knew working would be fun! Danny's odd teenager mind still floating through her genes made her think working would be the worst thing ever but not at this cool place! All she had to do was talk to people while she was in her ghost form and just go through some things from time to time. It was a piece of cake! And to think they were nice enough to give her a break too despite the not at all heavy work load.

For her break she was just walking around the place and checking it out. Looking at all the cool things displayed. Dani beamed when she noticed the girl that hired her and walked closer to her. It would be great to say hi. An amazing idea hit her when she overheard the girl, assuming that she was talking about her because what other 'ghost on break' was here?

Behind her she greeted with a peppy "Hi there!" with a big grin on her face. “Yeah, where would a ghost on break go?” She said, playing along for fun.

“I don’t even know what a ‘cat’ is, but it doesn’t surprise me that you people are celebrating them.”

“It’s this thing!” She says, holding up a black cat against its will. It was desperately trying get away but the small girl’s grip was too strong.

“I don’t know why people would care about these things either. There’s so much more cooler stuff than this loud, boring thing.”

“Half-ghost–?” The idea of that caught Norman completely off-guard, although Dani’s impression did manage to dissuade him momentarily from a barrage of questions. Instead he coudn’t help but to adopt a half-smile alongside a faint chuckle.

“Sounds terrifying. I don’t know about any box ghost– but I’ve seen my fair share of specters, spirits… Where…where I come from that’s not exactly a “normal” thing though.” He admitted, a hand risen to rub sheepishly at his upper arm as he spoke. “So…how do you get to be “half-ghost” anyway?”

"Terrifying?!" Dani laughed at this. "Not even close! The box ghost is the laughing stock of the whole ghost zone!"

Once her laughing fit died down a notch, she answered the question. Though the look on her face made it look like she was confused about the whole concept herself. "Well, I was made this way. Believe it or not, I'm actually a clone of another half ghost. Huh, I never did get the chance to ask Danny how he got his powers.." She wondered to herself.

“S-sorry, uh… I just mean you’re not…like most ghosts I’ve seen. Usually it’s just that you’re on one plane or the other but– th-that must sound weird to you. It could just be the effect of this place, but you’re probably the most human ghost I’ve ever seen…”

“Not like most ghosts?” Dani repeated, wondering what he meant. She’s explored the ghost zone, she didn’t see much difference in them compared to her. Other than them being completely zany. 

“Uh, I don’t know what you think ghosts are normally like but I am only half ghost so that might be what you mean.” She said nonchalantly. “If you’re talking about that annoying wailing that the box ghost does,” She clears her throat and wiggles her fingers up in the air to imitate the poor excuse for a ghost. “Ooooh!~ Beware!” She says then made a gross barf sound. 

“Ugh! Bleh!”

“Yeah, I don’t do that.”

Cause I am awesome! I’m pretty cool and friendly so I’d be great working in a job that you have to talk to people. I’ll do whatever you need me to do to help. And also, I’m half a ghost! So yeah, I’ll be total fit with this place.

Anything else we should know?:

I’m still under this city’s stupid restrictions so I can only go into my ghost form for 10 minutes. But! I can shift forms an unlimited amount of times! Just wanted to give a warning.

Have you ever heard of ectoplasm? It’s this green, glowy stuff that shoot out from my hands. If we put it in a bottle then it would be pretty cool lamp thing!

This is gonna be so much fun!

“I don’t think anyone would argue with you there… Though even for a ghost you’re pretty odd.” Was that rude? “I-I mean since you’re not entirely– n-nevermind.”

“Pretty odd? Yeah, isn’t that what I practically just said?” She cocked a brow at the boy who she thought was pretty odd himself. Or maybe he meant something more..

“What makes you say that, huh?”

“Oh come on! If you need weird and mysterious, then I’m your gal! What’s more weird and mysterious than a ghost?!”
