Imagine being kidnapped as a kid by a creature from another dimension, and finally rescued just to be possessed by some shadow. Finally free? Yeah, sure, but now your friends have "grown up", you've lost your childhood, everybody's busy with their relationships, the friend group seems broken and you're not gonna "fall in love" because you're already in love with your best friend (who has a girlfriend btw). Now you end up moving away from the one place you called home, away from all your friends, only to be ignored when visited by your best friend.
