Thank you to everyone who came out for our Meal Day / Delivery yesterday. It was a great success! We helped 50 people with a warm home cooked lasagna meal and essential items to get them through a little while. Thank you to those individuals who gave up their afternoon to help change the streets with us, for packing kits and preparing meals and delivering out to the streets last night. Made a small delivery to a man and his son a couple days ago! I'm working with a woman for the county that helps people get off the street and put them into transitional housing. This was my first drop off! I'm so happy to be able to give people who have nothing a little warmth and love and something handmade! :) Usually when they go into transitional housing, they have nothing at all so I've been working with someone to provide each person or family a handmade blanket when they get into their housing and start the next chapter of their new lives!
Today was a great day! HTTS has made its way to California! Also, I did a HUGE shopping trip to stockpile some fabric! I think the designs are beautiful and I can't wait to make some blankets with this! This is Mike. I met him this past Saturday when we went to the waterfront in Portland, OR to deliver a few blankets. I was walking when I saw a man going through a dumpster underneath a bridge; I went up to him and asked him if he slept on the streets. I asked him what his name was and shook his hand. I told Mike that I made this blanket by hand and wanted to give it to him if he’d accept. He looked at me and said, “Are you an Angel? You made this!?
