I’ve heard this book has one of the best prologues basically ever so I’m very excited for that. Plus I’ve just been wanting to read the thing since it released. Let’s talk about bad/guilty reading habits. What defines a bad reader to you? Am I universally a bad reader because of the issues I find within myself? Is there even such a thing as a bad reader? Discuss!

My latest reads can be used for a lesson in early judgement. I’ve known about the Captive Prince trilogy for the longest time, and for a long time I vehemently refused to read them. It wasn’t until a dear, sweet friend told me to just trust her and give them a chance. And well, didn’t I feel foolish? Certainly not a series that handles every issue perfectly, but a series that develops a beautifully healthy relationship filled with forgiveness and growth. And it’s funny as hell to boot. So now I’m many years behind on the bandwagon. However, I highly encourage reading this series if you have ever thought it may interest you but felt hesitant because of naysayers. I have not flown through a trilogy like this since I read Libba Bray’s Gemma Doyle trilogy, and I can see myself reading it over and over again. Enjoying it just as much each time.

A little rainbow of representation (plus a happily ever after) 🌈

These books aren’t perfect, but they’re special as hell because they create characters that reflect real readers. In one moment, I am Simon in his decision regarding labels. In the next, I am Cath in her anxiety. Sometimes I am Seraphina with a bout of self-hatred. It’s lovely to read about heroes and happy endings, but books can show us that we’re all heroes if the authors take a moment to represent us in their universes.

Fun fact. Shadow Scale was the first book I ever read with a canonically trans character. I can’t say that that represents me, but it does others and I felt like the natural way the character was interwoven was endlessly important. We need more of that! Headcanons are good, but people deserve the real deal. People deserve real representation.

Side note. I haven’t read Of Fire and Stars yet! It’s my most recent purchase! Someone let me know if it’s good!

Come listen to me talk about books and reading! I come across a lot of people who tell me that certain categories of literature are less than others. After a while the idea implanted itself in my head, and I started to believe this too. ALL LITERATURE IS VALID THOUGH. We should appreciate everything that we find interest in. Every time you read anything it is time well spent.

I just want to build and live in a tiny house. I’ll drink coffee in the morning with a fluffy sweater and a kitten.

I’ll live in the quiet moments that exist in my home before anyone else is awake. That’ll just be my life though.

My books will be everywhere because I can give up a lot of stuff for minimalism, but I’ll still have a small library.

I’ll have someone who loves me or maybe I won’t. I’ll be satisfied with myself though.

I’ll stay up and dance to Night Moves with a wine glass because there’s no one around to judge me.

My family can come over and I can love them while they’re there. Then they’ll leave though and I’ll be peaceful.

And yeah.

Everything will just be quiet.
