“The Good and the Bad: How Social Media Affected Me as a Gen Z Individual”
Gen Z are the generation to be engulfed by technology, particularly social media. There are social media platforms that Gen Z and we as individuals use to connect on a personal basis via Facebook and Twitter, share images on Instagram, and look for jobs. However, social media has had a bad effect on us, with some Gen Z or individuals having that online chats with people they know or don't know would replace face-to-face conversations with friends in real life and will not cultivate social skills as effectively as conversation through a messaging platform. Other teenagers are compelled to continuously compare themselves to this unrealistic ideal of what life should be. But when we get to the point where socialization and self-esteem collide, we see one of the biggest problems or bad effects of social media that affects Gen Z: cyberbullying. Bullying has long been known to harm Gen Z mental health, and cyberbullying has the same, if not worse, consequences.
These social media platforms have produced both advantageous and unintended destructive impacts on our planet. The social media platform has suddenly developed in popularity worldwide, permitting users to connect with others who share their interests or engage with their preferred social media to spend time with it. It can speedily go through it by accumulating data, distracting attention, and working with others through internet media. As part of the social generation Z, we have risen in a society solely connected by the internet and mobile devices, which indicates that media utilizes every free time. We can use it to produce online friends, take school-related materials, appreciate ourselves, and many other things. Social media can effectively blend into our everyday lives because it forms our support and engagement through social media surfing. What's excellent about being in Gen Z is that we have the choice to contain knowledge through innovation, which will enable us to expand our skills and turn us toward making things in clever ways to make the world a more productive place by showing that social media can be a source for growing and learning how to open doors through these online media stages. To simplify, the good and bad of social media are obvious. On the good side, social media provides everyone in society with unprecedented access to information and participation. On the bad side, 24/7 access and participation might be exploited at times. Especially if it's being used to wrongly accuse or defame someone.
