love men who fall into "my girl is mad at me i hope i die" category but who also regularly do things to piss their girl off. duality of man
daughter (non-practicing)
sister (deadbeat)

Lily Evans + Dream Girl Evil, Part 1
i cant get on with the emo-himbo-dumbass barty agenda because it’s just so much more entertaining for him to LOOK like that but actually be the opposite. he’s dressed in his grotty grungy band t-shirts and black ripped jeans with chains and piercings and tattoos, but he’s sat straight upright at his family’s ornate marble kitchen counter with his hands clasped together as he contemplates the best way to enact his 10-year revenge plot like some machiavellian hipster. he’s hitting his vape whilst his correcting your use of the word ‘whom’. he’s throwing popcorn into his mouth (and missing) whilst explaining the meaning of chekov’s gun and how this allows him to predict the ending of any piece of modern media. he’s acting like a drug dealer whilst being the most intellectual person you know.

Something I really struggle to get people to understand is that like. Sometimes there was no intentional homoerotic subtext, the author was just extremely misogynistic. Sometimes the author wasn't "secretly shipping" those two men, the author literally just hates women so much that they see them as being literally incapable of relationships with depth. Like this is kind of a big thing with misogyny actually. A lot of extremely misogynistic people truly believe that a man can only have meaningful and complex relationships with other men because they literally just think women are so inferior they only exist to birth children and clean the house. It's like when people say along the lines of "no one worships exclusively men quite like straight men do". It's just that phenomenon actually. That happens to be manifesting in a raging misogynist's writing. Writing a man character who literally only puts effort into his friendships with other men while completely ignoring his literal girlfriend or wife is actually an extremely straight thing to write. And that doesn't mean you can't ship those men or that there are no stories with actual intentional homoerotic subtext. I just think it's important to be able to recognize extreme misogyny in writing and acknowledge it without brushing it off and assuming good intentions when literally all evidence is screaming that this was a misogynistic writing choice and not a representing gay men choice.
Also would like people to understand. Even if it IS intentional homoerotic subtext. It doesn't make wildly misogynistic writing suddenly ok. Like. "Women are subhuman babymakers" doesn't become less misogynistic if the characters are a clearly gay couple instead of a pair of "confirmed bachelor" roommates.
Open ur eyes to sapphic wolfstar with masc sirius...

considering the state of the world in general, the new hbo reboot, and the horrifying anti-trans bills being passed in my state - it feels more important than ever to support fics written by, for and about trans characters.
in no particular order, here is an updated list of my favorite trans sirius and trans remus fic recs! some of these were posted in the last few weeks, some are from over 10 years ago and this is not an exhaustive list! if i've added one from from any author, just assume that i recommend all of their works <3333
so, me and the cursed amulet have been talking. well, he’s been talking. I’ve been listening. anyway we think you’re plotting against us.
i am extremely off putting want to be friends
i'll be honest it gets kind of annoying when ppls immediate canned response to an m/f ship is "she deserves better" because over half the people who say that then proceed to hyperfocus on some yaoi with the man involved and never give the woman a second glance. forgive me but i think she deserves better than being girlbossed off screen and never mentioned again
There’s something that struck me today: there’s something really insidiously sexist about the fact that Gilderoy Lockhart is such an obvious fraud. Even thirteen-year-old Ron can see it, and yet he’s still able to deceive his adult fan base, who are mainly women.
And it’s mostly the male characters who call him out as a fraud, apart from McGonagall.
I thought this said sexy
For a moment I lived in a world where someone thought it was insidiously sexy that Gilderoy Lockheart was an obvious fraud that only tricked women ...odd kink... alright...
You're right - that is sexist. The idea that women - not only young girls, not only some dreamy individuals, but masses of grown women - are blinded by one guys pretty smile and good looks is uncomfortable.
The only time we see that with men are with Veela, who are magically alluring. Their magic is a force that manipulates men. Lockheart is just a dude. He isn't even good at magic.
Women roll their eyes at men falling victim to magical allure - but are so weak willed that a large number are blind to Lockheart.
Hahah finding stupidity sexy could never be me 😝
Also yesssss he is literally just some dude- the fact that nobody questions him (not even the newspapers or witch weekly who keep giving him awards) is very odd and like I said insidiously sexist.
