“Oh wow, that is so sweet,” Susan said, watching the scene unfold in front of her, “Isn’t that just so sweet? How romantic.”
“It is. I’d be a real sucker for anyone who did that for me.” Harleen admitted, leaning her chin on her hand lightly, a smile on her lips.
“Come on where is your sense of adventure? Or even just your sense of fun?” Kai commented, leaning over the bar, a smile on his face that seemed sweet enough but still held plenty of mischief as he challenged the person in front of him. “You don’t want to be labeled as a boring stick in the mud now, do you?”
There was some hesitation in the blondes reaction but they were words she’d heard before. Not ones she was particularly keen on if she was being honest given they had been thrown at her by her exes more than once. “So...” She began slowly. “What is it you are expecting me to do?”

Veronica shrugged. “I have some very-” Bitchy. “Insistent friends.”
“And you can’t turn them down?” Harleen asked after a moment. “I don’t mean to be rude, but they don’t sound very much like friends to me.”

“Oh? I am very intrigued. Do you have some alter ego that only comes out when you party too much?” He grinned at the blonde. “We’re a family of extroverts and we know our way around people.”
“I guess that’s a good way of putting it. I’m definitely not my normal self, that’s for sure but that’s a story for another day.” Harleen informed Alex with a laugh. “I can see that you do... but there’s no harm in you so I don’t mind you knowing your way round me... so to speak anyway.”

“I’m sorry, but I honestly might be doing you a favor. I don’t think you want a guy as big as me stepping on your toes.” Patterson joked. “You’re a good dancer though.”
“It wouldn’t be the first or the last time. Besides, everyone has to learn at some point.” Harleen told the man with a little smile. “But thank you.”
“No, no really, I don’t dance.”
“That’s a shame because I could have done with a partner for the next song.”

“Keeping my head down so people don’t bother me.” Veronica said shrugging. “I was told that I had to show up.” Heather hadn’t used such nice words though.
“Ah... clearly I didn’t get that memo.” Harleen admitted with a bit of a laugh. “But you had to?”
“I don’t know why I bothered dying my hair for this. Even though it’s only temporary, I miss the blue hair already,” Evie said, sipping on her drink and straightening out her skirt, “What do you think? Should I have gone brunette?”
“I do have to say, I’m a fan of your normal hair. Makes me want to play with colour.” Harleen admitted, twisting her blonde hair around her fingers. “From my experience you suit both but blue is quintessentially you.”

“I don’t know you that well so I didn’t know if you’re a party type,” he shrugged. “What can I say, an apple doesn’t fall far from the tree,” he added, grinning. His parents were born politicians and he had always known how to use charm and charisma to get what he wanted.
“I have my times. Unfortunately I do tend to go a little wild when I let my hair down so the partying is kept to a minimum.” Harleen confessed, biting down on her lower lip in amusement. “So your family is the same I take it?”

“I’d like to think so too,” she agreed with a bashful smile. “Oh I’m sure you could figure out your way in any decade,” Pamela replied, giving the other a light nudge. “A drink sounds perfect. I should probably leave a pro like you to the dancing though.”
“I think that’s a little more faith than I deserve but I’m not going to turn it down.” Harleen answered with a laugh. “And we can start with a drink but under no circumstances will I be allowing you to leave without dancing with me.” Harleen’s pout was there for a moment but she couldn’t seem to hold it, instead breaking into a bright smile. “You won’t really leave me dancing on my own will you?”

“Fancy seeing you here, Harleen,” Alex greeted the other and turned around to show off his costume. “It’s not much different than on every other day, but I am in fact a snack.”
“You sound surprised.” Harleen answered, though a moment later she was laughing when Alex described himself as a snack. “Really? I do love your confidence in yourself. I wish I was as self-assured as that.”

Veronica laughed. “This is… So not my scene.”
“Oh? What are you more used to then? And why are you here if this isn’t your thing?”
“I’ve got to admit– the decorations in this place are kind of amazing,” Pamela turned to her roommate with a smile. “This might be the closest we’ll ever come to time travel, huh?” she added teasingly, always feeling a little more at ease around Harleen.

“I imagine you would have fitted in nicely to the flower power era.” Harleen spoke with a smile. “Me... Well I’m mostly happy in the era I am in.” The minute that Harleen heard the music, she immediately started moving to the beat, swinging around to look at her friend. “Shall we get a drink and then go dance?”
“Nope, I didn’t watch Grease the other night, I have no idea what you mean,” Alex said with a grin. Of course it was an obvious lie as he was dressed exactly like Danny Zuko.
“Alex!” Harleen gushed as she saw the man. “You look amazing!” The girl motioned for him to give her a spin. “You are going to be a real heart breaker tonight.”
Veronica felt stupid in her roaring 20′s dress, but still she was here at this party, still unsure as to why she chose this instead of studying. “I need a drink.”
"You sound like someone who isn’t at all comfortable.” Harleen surveyed after a moment. “Are you alright?”

“It’s okay, things like that happen. But it’s best to check where you’re going, you don’t want to walk in front of a car.”
“Oh, I wouldn’t worry about that. I’m not in the habit of walking across roads without watching, just pavements.” She spoke pleasantly, a small smile on her lips.

“Demanding and selfish? That blonde hair hides those devil horns well,” Tucker teased the other lightly, not meaning anything he was really saying. “For now I’m good, but I appreciate the offer pidge,” he smiled appreciatively. “You’d do that? That’s very kind of you Harls.”
“I never said I was perfect... near perfect perhaps.” She teased, a laugh falling from her lips. The day she actually believed that however would be a joyous one. Perhaps she’d had too many people in her life telling her the opposite to actually convince herself that it was true. “Hey, what are friends for?”
