we gotta get back to torrent distribution, i just watched someone eat eight grand in bandwidth charges because they ran a direct-download piracy site with local file hosting through cloudflare. torrents were invented literally for this exact reason
i have a file or folder on my pc that i want to share with other people. let's call it gayshit.mp3
unfortunately gayshit.mp3 is 750mb and im not paying for discord nitro so i need another way to send it
i put it into qbittorrent and it makes a torrent file. this is essentially a very small file that points to gayshit.mp3 so other computers can find it. kinda like a treasure map
i send this tiny file to my friend, who loads it into qbittorrent. their computer takes a moment to find mine over the vast expanse of cyberspace and then (as long as my pc is running and the file is still where it should be), it gets copied from my hard drive to theirs
this is the cool part: if somebody else loads that tiny file, they can download it from both of us. if i'm offline but my friend is on, the third person can still get it. this also means that if two people have separate halves of the file, they can download the other half from each other. as long as some combination of people have the pieces between them, they can all have the whole thing.
crucially this does not require a server!!! you can just upload the file to a few people and as long as they keep it, it's still accessible. as long as somebody, somewhere is still connected, it's available forever. the only way it goes away is if everybody disconnects from it.

Shopping in downtown Tokyo one was, more or less just window shopping with your wonderful, and rich husband Hawks, or as you know him, Keigo.
Walking past one fancy designer stores you see in the window one of the most beautiful bags you have ever seen. You stop dead in your tracks.
“Hm? You okay, Birdie?” Keigo asked moving behind you and wrapping his arms around your waist. “Ah, that is a cute bag~. Almost as cute as you~” he coos softly. “Wanna go look, cute?” He asked
You didn’t need to be asked twice. You nod eagerly and go in and happily ask the store assistant to show you the bag up close. Once you have the bag in your hands you walk to the mirror, immediately trying on different ways to style the bag.
Keigo was walking around looking at the rings the designer stores had. You walk up to him and show him the bag.
“Isn’t this Color the best! It’s cute and it’s a part of their new line! I can’t believe this store actually has this in stock!” You ramble on. Your eyes then land on the price tag. A frown softly appeared on your face.
Keigo always spoiled you, no matter if it was just finding random shiney items to bring or something expensive and extravagant. He always found something that looked good on you.
“Do you want it?” He asked, tilting his head softly. “It looks great on you, not even I could pick something out that close to perfect” he coos softly with a flirtatious tone.
“It’s too expensive” you let out a soft huff looking down at your shoes.
“I didn’t ask if it was expensive, dove” he winks “I asked if you wanted it~.” He said sternly. God he was so hot when he was being stern with you. It made you weak in your knees.
“Y-yeah. I do want it. Really badly” you mutter as you feel the heat move up your neck. “It’s really cute”
“Then,” he said quickly pulling out his designer leather wallet before turning to the store attendant “we’ll take it, and something a little extra for the sweet dove” he winks at you, clearly enjoying the view of you happy and especially when he saw how you got flustered.
He happily pays, making sure he makes a show of handing you the bags and making sure his wings looked extra nice as he handed it to you.
