Progress of my current cosplay adventure.

I'm currently updating my Harley Quinn of Arkham City cosplay that I wore almost a year ago. This Saturday, I'll be attending Otafest Aurora for the second time, thus marking my one year anniversary being in love with Harley Quinn and cosplaying. So I've decided to do some upgrading and hopefully have it done in time to celebrate A Year of Awesome Beginnings!

Pic 1: Cut and sewn half of the tank top undershirt that will be going under the corset thing (I'm calling it a vest). Needs to be attached to black half and cropped to match the length of the vest.

Pic 2: Made a mini scale of the mallet i want to make for this cosplay. Originally I had made the baseball bat that HQ has in the game series, but alas, it is broken and poorly made of styrofoam (first prop ever made). I plan on using plastic flower pots and pvc pipe to make said mallet.

Pic 3 and 4: Sewed black straps instead of buying anything similar. Not perfect at sewing in a straight line, but I'm getting there. I attached the straps and rings onto the vest and feel really good about my progress in the past few days. I have a lot to do still in just 2 days. Trying to fight off the feeling of panic with the constant thought that this Saturday will probably be one of the most exciting days for me.

Went to the Edmonton Expo a few days ago as a last minute decision, best last minute choice. Didn't get to personally meet Bruce Timm like i wanted but I did get my friend to get something of mine signed by him. Also got to meet Jessica Nigri again. Super cool part? She remembered me from Calgary Expo just this past year. Thought it was cool that she still remembered one encounter with a fan with all the other cons and fans she's met in between April till September.

Anxiety & Helping Someone Cope. I didn’t want to make it overwhelming or too long remember, so I kept it to the main points that benefit me greatly when I’m experiencing an attack. 40 million of Americans alone suffer with anxiety; it’s a horrid feeling when you know someone just wants to help you but you cannot even construct a simple sentence at the time, so please share this in hope that it benefits even just 1 person. Muchos love.

to add, some people don’t want to admit they’re having an attack while going through it or are trying to distract themselves and not focus on it, so it’s nice if you just act casual and not all overly concerned or panicky over that person, that can just make them feel even worse it always helps me feel better when someone just kinda chats casually to me, not acknowledging my anxiety and being patient if im slow to respond or barely respond at the moment (i tend to say ‘yeah im okay/fine/whatever’ if someone asks me ‘whats wrong’ even if im clearly not okay)
