One of my submissions for the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers’ LSE competition. This is my suggested design for a lectern, which uses a sand colour scheme and employs curved elements inspired by the infinity symbol. My chosen materials are Oak and silver nickel, which are demonstrated in this 1:5 scale model.

A little birch, maple and walnut cabinet. Funny leather pulls and internal detail. I gave the door and the drawer face a brushed texture and raised the grain pattern on the back panel. A subtle but tactile effect.

Personal project and collaboration with Zak Higginbottom. These pots are made from off cut Oak, Ash and Olive Ash, and are decorated with silver nickel.

Personal project and first collaboration with expert wood turner, Zak Higginbottom. The turned cactus and plant pots allowed me to learn the basics of bowl turning, using the appropriate chuck, and experiment with different off cut timbers.

Personal project and collaboration with Zak Higginbottom. These little spice pots are made from off cut timber and decorated with chalk paint. 

My Spring collection of pots are all inspired by, and show my attempt at using the pop colours used in Australian design.

Quick sketch to record the idea of using collage and simple pencil lines to convey the shape and form of a design or piece. Definitely going to try and include this technique in my design work. A very worthwhile exhbition for a furniture design student to go visit.

A light bulb popped into my head the other day, and I have now decided to continue the concept I had for my final major project from last year’s art foundation course, but developing a new solution for the same design problem.
