The limbless wonder's classic experience for Nintendo Switch has arrived today. ✨
I never played the classic experience before so this is it!
Thank you for all birthday wishes today! ✨
More asks replies were drawn yesterday, so for the rest of the month I have content to show for the side blog.
Redesigned one of my earliest fancharacters
It's hard to believe that it's been almost twenty years ago I've created one of my earliest fancharacters, originally for an alternative universe of Rayman, way before the human princess warriors were canon but we already had a hint of possible human presence thanks to the TV Animated Series. I like to believe that specific material fits in a parallel universe in case the Robo-Pirates had managed to conquer the Glade of Dreams and send Rayman to the Mysterious Guild Intergalactic Zoo.
The surprise release of Rayman 30th Anniversary was an opportunity to revisit the first game and remember a few things, despite of the controversial decision with the OST change (I find lamentable this isn't getting fixed before the physical release of the title). Additionally, Rayman Legends Retold was recently announced and while I don't expect a groundbreaking revamped story, I'm quite curious to see how character interactions and new cutscenes will enroll.
It's been since at least 5 years I had some ideas saved in a drawer and these might change depending on what the "new" game will reveal later this year, but it encouraged me to start by redesigning my character to look fresher and more consistent. Kaila has got a Toyhou.se profile if you want to get to know her better. ☺️
Maybe more new Rayman-related watercolours might appear in the incoming times, lets see about it!
Little things I got today while doing groceries. I thought the pin badge was relatable (I don't have a diagnosis but I suspect things) and I hardly resist to Poké Ball patterns. 😅
I finally encouraged myself to continue this drawing yesterday. The illustration was originally planned for 15th March of 2025 but it was interrupted for over an year due to several things getting in the way: It's now finished!
Normally I avoid backgrounds given the amount of extra work (and lack of confidence!) they mean to make something minimally believable. For this drawing I've opened an exception by pushing myself out of my usual confort zone. There's room for improvement!
Ash and Goh are checking a map for other research requested by Professor Cerise. However, there's no consent of what direction to take...

This interview that came out yesterday is the most complete ever about Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc. There's plenty of new input shared by key devs that worked in the game back then.
Rayman 3 might not be my favourite entry in the series but I still praise it for some good ideas (like the Knaaren race and lore around them) that enriched the francophone oniric universe that this franchise represents. A must-watch for all Rayman fans regardless your position about the third game!
Kiss Me Once
This was the first girlsband in Portugal and one of the first in Europe, they even went to Eurovision once in the 80s. Their songs are so well done and impactful in the country, especially considering how the Carnation Revolution was very fresh, that even today people know the lyrics and sing them by heart! What I didn't know was that they had done an English cover of one of their biggest hits with adapted lyrics, it's worth listening. They did a few other songs in English and I was surprised how closely they sound to ABBA 😄 .
As hard it is to believe, only today I'm properly experimenting Clip Studio's version 5. Despite of having upgraded my license almost two months ago, there were many things in the way, preventing/delaying me from going back to more detailed drawing: Spring cleanings, unemployment bureocracies, winning tickets to two cinematographic events, a micro-course participation, visitors from abroad and faulty hardware that had to be replaced.
For the latter, it was first a keyboard that died after 12 years of intense service, stopping to turn on from a day to another. Nothing would wake it up. It's still remarkable how it lasted so long, but it was also bad luck for this to have occured days after my job contract ended. Luckily there was a shop selling the alternative keyboard I wanted for almost half of the price so I could still save money that most of it was applied in the Clip Studio license upgrade.
Now it's a hard drive I'm waiting to arrive because that one where I was archiving many videos is currently in coma and I can't fully rescue the most important data unless that new hard drive arrives. Had to also pay for a license to manage to rescue maybe 98% of the most important things in it that could still be traced back.
And one of my Joy-Con arrived today from Nintendo's Technical Service and I was surprised that they didn't charge me anything and the battery problem is apparently fixed (it was complaining of low battery despite of charging a full day), so at least good stuff still happen.
May is a month with a special agenda as it's when the biggest japanese pop culture convention happens in my country, so this will delay a little longer my return to productivity. But one thing is certain: new watercolours will appear soon. The picture gives a subtle hint of the character I'm drawing. No, it's not Pokémon, it's from a different franchise and it will be a gift. Who could it be and who's for? =)
This isn’t the first time I’ve been to Cabo da Roca, but I hadn’t visited it for at least a decade. The weather was fine (though I had to make sure I’d put on sun cream) and there was even live piano music. The photos don’t do justice to the sheer scale of the sea when viewed from this particular spot.
This is the place where Team Rocket read a stone plaque in JN095, making this a traveling spot for Pokémon/Anipoke fans. 😊
The stone's translated as "In here... Where the land ends... and the sea begins...", a quote from Luís de Camões, one of our greatest poets from Portugal's history. Jessie reads an adapted version of this plaque's text in the episode I refered earlier.
You could say that a month before Pokémon Presents 2022, they were already dropping hints about what the next region in the games would be. 😉
Cabo da Roca is located in Portugal, at Sintra's region (outskirts of Lisbon).

If the 10th generation came out today, I have no doubt that I would choose Gecqua because I love geckos (it's no coincidence that I chose Treecko on my 2005 journey to Hoenn!).
I thought about portraying one as if it were behind a piece of glass. I wonder what the evolutions will be like and if they'll influence my decision on which starter I'll play in the future in Pokémon Winds.
It's a relief to know that the new games won't be out until 2027. It means they're spending more time developing the game, and I hope that translates into a product with better quality control.
What about you, which version and starter will you choose? 😊

Blog name change
Starting now, the blog has been renamed to "soulmatesoflight-pkmnau".
The decision was taken being mindful how big this alternative universe grew as well its audience (it's got nearly 2000 followers by the time of posting!). To make sure content is consistent, from now on it will be focused in Soul(mate)s of Light AU works.
My main blog, @haruka-vii , will try to seek balance between personal posts as well showcasing alternative creations, both outside and inside Pokémon (but on a more global aspect). New artwork non-related to the AU will be posted there, and old artwork will be gradually reposted in that account as well.
A new page, @harukareblogsthings , was created exclusively for reblogging misclaneous content to assure it keeps my art blog tidier from this time on.
Since the company I was working until recently didn't renew my contract and I'm back to an unemployment status, I've been reorganizing myself and handle different stuff at the same time. Twenty-four hours cycles aren't enough to reach everywhere at once. I know the comic's been in a long hiatus, first due to mental health reasons, and after due to getting hired somewhere in full-time with rotating schedules, sometimes doing night shifts. I do intend to continue to bring AU content anyway and hopefully continuing the comic as well, I thank everyone's patience in advance.
Lastly, I inform that I have a Ko-Fi account where anyone who wishes to show support to my works can donate safely. Any help is appreciated especially at an uncertain situation like being unemployed means.

In case you missed, with a small edit.
I was surprised to discover last week that Uni POSCA now has a new range of brush markers on sale. Although they’ve had a brush-tip marker for many years, I didn’t have a good experience with it. Apart from the high price and the fact that it didn’t last very long (I tried everything, including warm water to reactivate the ink, but to no avail), the tip is too soft, which makes it difficult to create precise lines.
These new POSCA Brush markers cost almost half the price of the other range and the tip is semi-flexible, producing much better results. I did a quick test on a black sheet of paper, using one of their yellow 3M-tip markers as well. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s only a matter of time before they discontinue the older ones.
Litten seemed fitting for this test over a black paper.

I haven't done a new watercolour in months! This one is a personal tribute to the 30th anniversary of the Rayman game franchise created by French speakers, as well as to its original composer, Rémi Gazel, who passed away in 2019 after battling cancer.
A re-release of the first game featuring this unique character was announced three days ago and hit digital stores the very next day. Despite the controversy surrounding the change in the soundtrack, it was still a trip back in time to the new millennium, which was when I discovered this game on a neighbour's PlayStation at the time. Another neighbour of mine also had it, and I remember us playing for hours, trying to figure out where the heck the cages were hidden! Eventually, my mother brought me the MS-DOS/Windows 95 version from a trip she took to France. It was a difficult game, but it marked an era with its colourful two-dimensional graphics, fluid animations and unforgettable soundtrack.
Bon retour parmi nous, Monsieur Rayman! ✨✌️
Additionally, I want to thank my long-time followers from who are still around and keep up with my content and maintain friendship with me from those earlier internet days! Thank you for your continued support across fandoms.
