Even as a Catholic, I think it’s beautiful to see Islamic scholarship, which is responsible for some of the greatest advances in human history, depicted with the utmost care and reverence here. No effort was spared in making this as historically and culturally accurate I love that. It’s beautiful to see other faiths and cultures handled with care in anime.

i like the phrases "it's not for me," "it's not my thing," and "i'm not the target audience" because they're the most concise way to express "this thing that you enjoy has merits but idgaf about it" without being aggressive

This is important and it is also important to practice letting people have opinions (and criticism!) without taking it personally or acting like its an attack against you. It's easy to think "I like this thing so when someone doesn't like it that means they don't like me or they think I'm wrong" and then get RSD about it and lash out.

Practice not taking opinions personally. Being polite is one thing but no one wants to feel like they have to "walk on eggshells" around you because if they say something other than "it was perfect and I loved it" you're going to blow up in their face. People will simply stop trying to engage with you.

Hey, this ask isn’t exactly an about self-doubt, but feel free to ignore this anyway! I came across a reel which was about certain fanfic “writers” who were caught using ai in their works, and many comments were along the lines of, “this is why I read fanfics written before 2020” or “the overuse of the em dash is always telling” or “if the sentences are choppy/if there is a lack of conjunctions, it’s probably ai”; you get the idea.

I have been writing for a while now, but I only started posting my works recently. While I’m aware that writing or anything creative should be done for personal enjoyment, it always feels good when your work is appreciated. But because of the insane AI witchhunts, I can’t help but feel that it hampers the way I write, as I am constantly thinking if I should write a sentence a certain way, or use a different kind of punctuation(for I like using the em dash), use certain vocabulary, etc. I’m aware that this is more of a personal problem. Even so, do you have any advice on how to get over this paranoia? Should I consider making slight changes in the way I write? Since you write fanfiction, what is your take on these AI witch hunts? This might seem like a silly ask overall, but I feel helpless as I really want to put my work out there, but I'm scared that it will be flagged.

AI Fanfic Concerns

my take is they'll pass. the "witch hunt" is a handful of people with too much time on their hands (teenagers), time that could be better spent.

You won't be confronted. If anyone does, they've watched too many gossip vids and read too little literature for their literary criticism to matter. They can't harm you in a way that matters unless you let them hurt your feelings.

Scroll past or block drama-mongering videos like that. If you don't feed the paranoia it will eventually go away on its own.

Sometimes plot is easy to write, but writing a realistic thought process requires acknowledging that brains are weird and individuals can't always follow plot.
