Amelia wasn't too surprised by the answer - after all, she had never really seen any gym leaders take on another gym leader. It'd likely make for a great Pokemon match though, so she felt like it should be a thing.
"Me?" She idly tapped her pen on her notepad as she thought about it. "Maybe. I've never thought about it before. I dabble in Pokemon battles, but I don't think I'd have much luck against any Gym Leaders~" Something like a Gym Challenge would be a massive step out of her comfort zone. "I'm much better at writing than Pokemon battles."
There were a dojo where he and his fellow Gym Leaders would train and go all out in a way they wouldn't with challengers, but to just take them on like a challenger would seemed different than what they were doing there. At the very least, it was far more fun than a challenge could be sometimes.
"I see, nothing wrong with that. So long as you enjoy what you're doing with your partners I suppose." While he had always enjoyed them, there were a few that he knew that weren't fans of it, one of whom he was good friends with. "Don't sell yourself short, though. You might do better than expected, but if that isn't what you wish to do, there's nothing wrong with it."
happy new year! 💜 (just a little late…)
"Oh its nothing." Lydia dismissed. "He just needed help and I stepped in." She chuckled awkwardly. "I'm the reason he got hurt anyways, he pushed me out of the way of some falling debris."
"That does sound like him. Are you sure that you're alright as well? I can give you a check up to make sure that you didn't get injured as well." Though, the nurse knew that it was a slim chance, it was better to be safe than sorry. Besides, it would make Morty feel better later.
He would gently ask Skiddo to assist them and let Stuffy hop onto his back, making sure to keep quiet as he followed the other. If there was one thing he didn't want it was to trouble the legendary more than it had already been. Just knowing someone was willing to go to such terrible lengths was more than enough proof of how it had to be seen.
Though all thoughts of that left him the instant he spotted it and he couldn't help but stare in utter bewilderment. It was... stunning. He could see why there were legends built around it and just seeing its mere presence purifying the water was enough to make him unable to move, a simple nod the most he could manage out of both fear of bothering it and admiration.
"..."
It was interesting to see how someone reacted when seeing the legendary pokemon for the first time. There were some like his old friend and admittedly himself with a different pokemon that were utterly enthralled with them and sought them out for one reason or another, it becoming a sort of obsession or drive to get to know them better. Though, seeing Ishimaru’s reaction… it wasn’t one that was wrong. If anything, it was probably the reaction most were supposed to have.
“It’s breathtaking, isn’t it, to see one up close like this. There are times when Suicune, Entai, and Raikou all gather in the burned tower. It’s rather rare, but you would like the sight, I believe.”
Dangerous as it was to be in the burned tower, Morty was at least somewhat sure that the ranger would be able to handle himself as he went through it. And perhaps it would be best to have someone that could more reliably make arrests there once in awhile anyway given the amount of criminals that liked to hide out in the tower when Morty was busy.
What the hell do you mean my drafts are a year old? How did I forget this hard?
As tired as he was, the jest got the smallest quirk of a smile out of him, Larry even letting out a low, near unable to even be heard chuckle through it. "Can I add a shot of whiskey to that list?" A joke of his own before he suddenly slumped forwards to rest his forehead on Morty's shoulder with a heavy sigh. "I'm so tired..."
Chuckling at the jest in turn, Morty lets out a small sigh as he reaches up to run his fingers through Larry's hair. It worried him quite a lot how long Larry worked, and as much as Morty wanted to be there for him, to help him not do this to himself, it wasn't something that was feasible with the responsibilities they both had.
"I can tell... and that's why you're taking the rest of the day off. We can spend time anywhere else, as long as you're taking a break."
Morty hoped he wouldn't have to carry the other man out of his office, but he would if he had to. At the very least, he hoped the finality in his voice would be enough of a sign that he wasn't going to accept no for an answer.
"No one call for a wellness check, I'm alive still." Says the man who no one has seen in days after he holed himself up in his office.
"I was wondering why my attempts of convening with your spirit wasn't working. Guess it wasn't needed." A tease more than anything, but what could he say, he hadn't seen him in sometime, and how could he not. "Need a coffee? or maybe some fresh air?"
Is he being generous and handing out lil bags of candy to kids and pokemon around Ecruteak? Yes. Is he also letting Gengar torment and prank anyone foolish enough to cross his path? ...absolutely
"Halloween."
Morty redesigns because he's my favourite gym leader and I love him
"T what do you think of his abysmal team selection"

Given how nice Makoto is, I think Morty would show him quite a few of the more fragile ghost types that he cares for that used to be people. Even if Makoto can't understand them like he can, he'd be glad to play translator for him.
If he can take the time, Morty would like for Makoto to introduce Makoto to Valerie, mostly for the two of them to trade tips about raising fairy types.
Then again, he'd be pretty interested in his travels, too, and the two could talk over tea.
Also, I think it'd be funny if Makoto could get a rainbow feather out of sheer luck somehow. Dunno, just think that's on theme and Morty can be a little jealous and have thoughts on if he's the trainer that will get to meet the legendary pokemon.

'Of course not. I do not have time for 'fun.'' If the bird could smirk, he would at seeing how his glare had unnerved the ghost type.
...it made Xatu wonder how Gengar would react to hearing about the visions he saw of his future.
'...ya know, that ain't surprising...'
Gengar was used to being around things that saw the future. Morty did it plenty of times, but that was his beloved trainer and not... this creepy bird.
