I found this video to be liberating. Watch and see.
I like simplicity; I don't need luxury.
Simplicity is the most difficult thing to secure in this world; it is the last limit of experience and the last effort of genius.
Unnecessary possessions are unnecessary burdens. If you have them, you have to take care of them! There is great freedom in simplicity of living. It is those who have enough but not too much who are the happiest.
We cannot enjoy life if we spend our time and energy worrying about what happened yesterday and what will happen tomorrow. If we’re afraid all the time, we miss out on the wonderful fact that we’re alive and can be happy right now.
Other people live this way, why can we all?
When in times you feel helpless, remember. Better things are coming. <3
Temptation
· Temptation is all around you. It’s up to you to figure out what’s best for you. Do you stray from temptation or do you come face to face with it every day? At first, I tried staying away from it, but then I found coming face to face with it was healthy for me. I found myself soon drifting away and things I believed where a temptation at one point aren’t now. It’s about how you approach it. American style consumerism can be hard to overcome, but the best way to overcome it is to find a process that works best for you. You know yourself better than anyone else does. You have to trust your body, your heart, and mind. In doing that you will not only find inner peace, but you will also love yourself a little more than what you did before.
What would you rather be doing? Something you love, or something you absolutely dread?
To-Do-List
· The feeling of looking at a to-do list that is empty is astonishing. This whole school year I have worked hard to free up my to-do-list and lately, I’ve been succeeding. Instead of going to school, work, and then bed, I have had time to enjoy life. The sun is out until 8 PM, and I have so much free time now a days that I can actually enjoy it. Sunlight really does do a body good. As I complete the last few weeks of my senior year, I’m filled with exhilaration. I worked hard to get where I am, and I am positive that I can now leave this school stress free. By the time my graduation comes around I will not only be freeing 8 hours of my day, but I will also be able to use those 8 hours to do something in my life that I really enjoy doing. I couldn’t stress enough how important it is to free up your to-do-list.
“It is desirable that a man live in all respects so simply and preparedly that if an enemy take the town... he can walk out the gate empty-handed and without anxiety.” ― Henry David Thoreau
Phone Bills
· TToday I compared two of my phone bills. One bill was from the month of August in 2012. I used 30 GB of data, used 1223 texts, and 743 minutes. The second bill was from the month of February 2013. I used 2.9 GB, 178 texts, and 234 minutes! I FOUND THIS TO BE INCREDIBLE! I never realized how much time I spent wasting away on some technology I shouldn’t of even had! I feel like the next step will to go back to a dinosaur phone and see if I can cut my $32 bill down to even less!
“These times are too progressive. Everything has changed too fast. Railroads and telegraphs and kerosene and coal stoves -- they're good to have but the trouble is, folks get to depend on 'em.” ― Laura Ingalls Wilder
Money.
· I have yet to control my biggest possession: money. I have a hard time resisting the urge to spend when I know I always have my debit card on hand at all times. Most days, its school, work, and bed. In between, I have no time to prepare a meal for myself. I find myself indulging in fast food most days. Not only has it put a dent in my pocket, but has also put a dent on my health. I can say though that I have cut back considerably. When I use to eat out I would make sure to get everything. A burger, fries, medium drink, and maybe something to eat if I got hungry later. But now, I go and get one thing. Although it is still unhealthy and costing me, cutting back is still a huge improvement for me. I have learned I don’t need to eat until I am full. I need to eat for energy and then I can make it through my next task. Hopefully, it is my goal that in within three months I can cut fast food completely out of my budget. Does anyone know of any good ideas to cut back on my spending and simplifying my day throughout different tasks?
