When we're introduced to Caitlin, she's wearing high heels, a tight skirt, and pointing her pretty butt at the camera.
And I'm immediately in love.
(It wasn't actually her first scene, but most people don't notice her standing next to Thawne at the particle accelerator announcement.)
I mean, there's more going on here. Caitlin became my favorite because she's smart and nice, always working to help people even though she doesn't have powers and is more vulnerable then everyone else. But she keeps fighting anyway.
I see Iris as an incredibly closeted lesbian and here's why welcome to my presentation
She has always liked the idea of barry more than she's liked him. And I don't think it's ever really ABOUT him.
Her annoyance isn't because he personally annoys her, I think it's just that she doesn't want him badly enough to really want the hard parts of the relationship.
You see her relationship with Eddie being way more simple, like they had little issues but they were human problems and he was always on her side. He could be idealized, he was good for her, and then he died so he would always be the idealized future husband that died too soon. With barry they have standard human issues AND meta related ones, so to keep the relationship going they actually have to work on them, it's not just an easy
And because of that every little thing he does ends up getting on her nerves. It would be better if he wasn't the flash, it'd be better if he didn't go through so much, it'd be better if anything, and then when they get the ideal situations, it's still not right, and it never will be.
She's annoyed when he puts saving the world first, she's annoyed when he puts her before the world, she's annoyed because he's so good and he's still not enough to make her as happy as she thinks she should be
Her attraction to him is more the concept of being his wife. You see how often she mentions wanting to be his wife, how she talks about the fact they're meant to be together but it's always "the article from the future says we're married and we're married on the other earth" it's never really "I like you I want you to be mine" like damn even when they get together her confession boils down to "everyone says we should be together should we just give in already" I could never see her like. Having a crush on him.
They're supposed to be together, it's destiny, the future said so. But it's not because she likes him it's because she's meant to.
I don't think she'd realize until like. She'd already been married to barry for years. She's the girl in good luck babe except she never even 'experimented' with women

Why people wished they stayed platonic:
Barry Allen and Iris West
I hate the trope of "oh we grew up together like siblings, but I have had a crush on you since childhood." Why. It gives me the ick. Also Iris treats Barry so badly in s1, going back and forth on her feelings for him. AND I really liked Iris with her fiance! And they killed him just to get her with Barry :(
To start, they were pretty much raised as siblings (they were literally foster siblings) and Barry sees iris's biological brother as a brother (not just brother in law)
Additionally there are a lot of moments where iris just seemed to bull doze over Barry's feelings and kinda ignore what he was going through, they care about each other a lot and most of the scenes could be excusable if she was just a friend, but as his partner she does it way too often
Their dynamic as a romantic couple was a lot less enjoyable idk, i just got so pissed at iris all the time and wished they broke up
A qpr for them would've been better
Holly Golightly and Paul Varjak
I was so caught up in the euphoria of the idea of a woman and man friend who cuddle in bed together and hold hands on the street that for a moment I lived in a world where this wasn't a mainstream movie from 1961. Also they don't have a romantic relationship in the book
hiiii I'm one of the submitters for Barry and Iris and I wanna add some more
so when Barry would have a reasonable (if potentially unhealthy) reaction to something bad happening Iris would often get unreasonably upset about it and honestly react really poorly
like it's not just "this is not a good way to respond let's work through it and help you figure out how to have a healthier response" it's "that's so terrible of you to have done, why did you do this, I can't believe you'd do something so stupid and bad"
for example, one time Barry sees Iris is going to die in the future so he obsesses over things he can change to prevent it, one detail he notices is she doesn't have an engagement ring, so he proposes, upon learning that it's the reason he proposed I remember her like blowing up and being very upset (I remember being upset at her for it but I admittedly haven't seen it in a while so whatever) and I get being marginally hurt because maybe you see it as your partner not actually wanting to marry you when you just thought they did 2 seconds ago but he was trying to save your life Iris omg
and another time their daughter from the future comes to the present and then eventually it's revealed she worked with Barry's archenemy who killed his mom
now obviously Barry absolutely despised this person (who wouldn't) and feels hurt and betrayed, needing space after such a big betrayal he sends his daughter back to the future
and then Iris gets upset he didn't consult her first... like Iris... he just learned your daughter worked with a man who has traveled time and space trying to kill Barry and who successfully killed his mom and orchestrated a bunch of other bad shit in his life... he didn't even hurt the girl just sent her away, potentially not even forever because you probably still have access to time travel.. why you mad
and again let me touch on the fact that Barry sees every member of Iris's family as his own family, and not through an "in-law" lens.. just as his family
anyway I probably have more to say but I can't think of it rn
sorry to all the adaptations of this related that do it better ig
Yeah, Westallen shouldn't have happened cause Iris is a nasty hoe that dares to have feelings instead of coddling Barry. She's not the worthless Snow sisters
"WE are the flash" so... no. not even in a "you're not a speedster" way, but in a "let barry make his own decisions because he's his own individual person and even if he has a team and even if he's that close with you, he doesn't have to follow every order he's given because he knows what's good and right for the city and if he messes up he can take accountability for his own actions and will try his hardest to fix it himself just as anyone else on the team would."
I love that it's been 12 years since that line was said, and ye are still foaming at the mouth cause Barry said thank you for reminding me I dont have to do shit alone instead of making it about whatever usless white cunt you self-insert with
Of course, the ColdFlash shipper thinks Iris deserves better than Barry. You ship Barry with a thug who tried to kill him and took advantage of him but Iris deserves better than a man who worships the ground she walks on
I love when this video crops up on my fyp cause there's always someone trying to villainise Candice saying it was her cause they fail to realise Danielle is calling this shit out and Michael agrees with her. Like she talks about how her 40 minute commute to and from work turned into a 2hr commute
Since ya wanna tag your Iris hate Eddie dies Caitlin dies Cisco and Joe leaves. Iris and Barry get married and have kids. Eddie comes and hates for getting the life he thinks he deserves
Hi, I'm a snowbarry shipper. I will spread misinformation that makes it sound like Iris was only Barry's endgame cause comics cause I can't accept my fave so talentless she couldn't even benefit from nepotism. I will be ignoring that my ship don't even know each other in the comics. I will be ignoring there was no incentive to make snowbarry endgame. If you point out any of these things to me I will label you as mean and demand you spoon feed me the information cause my Internet has suddenly stopped working
First of all, I'm stunned to see so many negative comments on my post about the Snowbarry ship? Wtf? And then, instead of calling me a liar, can someone just calmly explain that what I heard is false? Because apparently what I said is false, but for your information, I didn't know that. I posted this in the heat of the moment, and I'm getting tons of reblogs and nasty comments? Grow up. Besides, even before knowing this "false information," I'd already ship Snowbarry, and that'll never change. In my eyes, they'll always be a better ship than with Iris.
People don't know what you do and don't know is false information, nor is it other people's job to educate you when you can easily do that yourself. This misinformation & it's ilk have been posted so many times by so many people over the years; people engage with this type of misinformation to explain that their false info ends in hostility & ship wars. People had enough.
After 12 years of fighting bad-faith disinformation like this, folks no longer have the patience to explain things on the off chance the people (you) don't realize you're spreading misinformation. Cause 90% people posting this kind of disinformation over the past 12 years do so purposely do so due to their racism & trying to uplift their ship and they contribute to the mess of racism in the fandom. The choice to go with WA isn't some little-known thing. It's frabic of the show. It's assumed to be common knowledge.
Cause it's very easy to interview by showrunners, producers, writers and actors who explain what the story about ships/narrative choices to find this common knowledge. The setup of the show with Candice Patton as the leading lady and main love interest from the pilot is also very self-explanatory in showing that the information you posted wasn't right. Cause if it were your info was right, then Danielle would've been the leading lady/love interest. Nevermind the comics' main pairing of Westallen & Caitlin not being a part of the Flash comics. Again, easy info to google and just think about. People don't know you, how and why you posted, so people are going to assume that when you post disinformation about a very basic part of the show, it's just another bad-faith disinformation post meant to prop up your ship like the rest of the bad-faith disinfomation. Which why there was such a wide negative response.
Given that you here and in other comments you keep referring to wanting someone to explain everything, a PM where someone explained it etc, I'm sorry but that is just not it. Stop trusting info from strangers online and do your own research and find out the truth yourself. A quick Google search. Gain some general knowledge about the show and fandom, and then you will have a basic to know when things you read from others is true or not.
No one said you shouldn't ship SB. You assume that upset at misinformation equals folks telling you who to ship? Sure, people who replied don't ship the same ship as you, but saying "X info is wrong/lie about how the series was made & written" isn't saying you're wrong to ship your show
I've said all I'm going to say on this subject. Enjoy your ship. I still recommend learning a bit about the show and fandom from credible sources other than word of mouth to prevent mistakes like this, and you can understand why the fandom reacts the way it does. History doesn't go away cause your unaware of it.
As one of the people that replied to you nah you're good. You happily spread misinformation that undermines Candice cause because you refuse to accept your fave failed to get to the top cause she was a flop. Also, you clearly have Internet access so if you really wanted to know you could figure it out instead of expecting to be spoon fed
So I find out today that Barry & Caitlin (Snowbarry) from the show The Flash were originally planned as the endgame, but that it was changed along the way because in the end they wanted to be as faithful as possible to the comics... I'm going to scream.
Jfc can ye just let go of this stupid lie that anyone with a half a brain cell could tell is a lie before googling and stop talking about being faithful to the comics when your fave has nothing to do with flash comics
There is a certain type of disappointment I feel when a showrunner starts to turn an already established work into an original story. I am generally indifferent with them making changes at all. Some of my favourite adaptions have made notable changes from the original source material that has improved the story. However, when they start to sideline the main characters in favour of these new characters who add nothing to the story, or , give plots that were intended for an original character to new ones, even change important story arcs, etc. It enrages me.
Two examples of when it is done right and when it is done wrong would be the addition of Alison in PJO season 2 and Cecil in The Flash, respectively. I loved the addition of Alison. She is an intense, ruthless, unstoppable character with an unyielding allegiance to Kronos and the Titans. I felt as though Alison added a new layer to Percy Jackson that contributed to the story of not just Luke and the rebellion but also of aged out demigods and their relationship to the camp and their parents.
Inversely, Cecil was the worst addition to The Flash that gave way to other bad additions like Allegra, Chester, Killer Frost's boyfriend, the newest alter ego of Caitlin Snow, etc. Her introduction was cool. It showed a new aspect of the crime fighting show we hadn't seen before, the law side. Then, they gave her powers, and everything quickly began to devolve from there. Barry and Iris were sideline, Cisco left, the beginning of the gross mischaracterisation of Joe West, plots with everybody irrelevant that nobody asked for, and so much more.
You had to be there. Watching the decline of The Flash in real time was an experience I think about to this day. Sitting week-to-week, the quality of the writing, acting, and special effects just got worse. I mourn the show it could've been.
I’m really interested in the analytics of the stuff Scs trend on Twitter. Specifically how many different accounts are actually tweeting “LET SUPERC*RP KISS.” Even at 60,000 tweets, that could just be 1,000 different accounts tweeting 60 times each… or 5,000 tweeting 12 times each… which hardly makes them a majority, just really loud on Twitter lol. Not to mention Sg averages like 500,000 to 800,000 viewers these days, so…🤷♀️ still not a majority. Regardless what’s done is done. Filming is over. Either they filmed sc endgame or not. I still lean towards not. Good for them that they’re so passionate (not really, screw them, especially the bullies and the other fans who enable them and don’t call them out). It will probably blow up in their faces. Dest*el trended all the time and look what happened there…
Well, I remember arguing with one idiot on Twitter - she had 4 more accounts where she reblogged her own answers. The other had like 5 "character" accounts, so yeah, some of them have more than one. Also, they don't really get that the majority of the viewers are not wasting time on social media trying to trend something as dumb as a kiss when the whole show is already WRAPPED.
I mean, at least they trend something positive like mindless zombies, that's an upgrate, but I am sure they are going to be idiots when the final ep will approach us.
Everyone is angry at Caitlin for ignoring logic and being wrong about Ronnie as if Deathstorm isn’t the coolest villain we’ve had in several seasons now. You’re welcome.
I love that it is almost 3 years ans we still bitching about Iris under videos that dont even mention her and crying about Caitlin not being in the last season. Maybe this is the year ye will put two and two together.
