drinking a berry flavored gatorade at my kitchen counter like a thirty-some year old man at a bar whose wife divorced him but the more he thinks about it the more relieved he gets because he's realizing he never loved her as much as he should have but that makes him more upset because the only person he really did love was his best friend who he's never stopped imagining a life with and he doesn't know what this means for him but he knows he's not a queer, he can't be a queer because it's not acceptable and he pushes the idea out of his head with all of the might he has remaining and he's left tired, so tired, and he only wants to go home, but it hurts because deep down, he knows home isn't a place for him, it's a person---the one person he can't let himself have.

if you REALLY think about it, jason grace is kind of similar to bucky barnes. he was just living a normal life before---then, he was put in really unfortunate circumstances where some difficult choices were made (bucky needing to help with the war, jason being brought to the wolf house). the outcome of these circumstances caused him to be brought somewhere else, where he would inevitably become a soldier (hydra taking bucky, jason to camp jupiter). his memories were wiped, and it took a long time for him to get them all back. his best friend was gone---not explicitely dead, but gone (jason and piper looked for leo for months after his "death"; steve wasn't dead, just really old). he tried to stop being a soldier, tried to stop fighting, but he just couldnt avoid it and was put right back in business (jason had to fight caligula and like three of his schoolteachers were monsters; bucky was just hanging out in wakanda for a while but he had to fight in infinity war and was blipped and fought in endgame and in tfatws and in thunderbolts* and honestly deserves a vacation home)

and bucky will probably die in doomsday
