@hawkxs “You know,” Mae said as she paced around Eren’s apartment. Her fingers walked along the kitchen counter and stopped as she turned to face the first child she gave a second chance to. “You could have come and said hello, Eren,” she looked up at him. “But, I am happy to see that you’re doing well. Would it kill you to drop and give your mother a visit?” Though, with the recent chain of events, it was hard not to want to see her children as often as she could. Mae cut down the causalities and looked at Eren, “I believe you already know what’s happening, better than any of us. I need your help, Eren.”
Eren sensed her before he even saw her. Dragons had a very distinct energy to them, if they didn’t conceal themselves. He set his bag down, letting make a soft thud on the counter as his footsteps lifted across the tiled kitchen. His lips tugged happily at her presence - at the very least, he was happy to know that she was well. Though, he knew better than to doubt the woman. “Mother Dragon,” he said as he walked to the refrigerator. A small creak came out as he reached in for a cold bottle of beer. Easily, he grabbed two and handed one over to Mae. “I know,” he revealed as he opened his bottle. In a gentle gesture, he mock toasted to her, “I know where they’re hidden. Both of them are being held there, Mother.”
sky snapped back into attention at the sound of the other man. he looked up at him. geeze. why were there so many people in the city that were built like mountains? sky looked up and apologized, “i didn’t realize i was standing there for so long. i guess, i just got all into my head.” he pressed his lips together and shook his head. sky stepped aside to let the man pass, “sorry about that …”
“You have a lot of things in your mind,” Hawkes said as he looked over at the man. “The Red Ranger has much to think about,” he added as he inspected him. Even without using any spells, he could feel that there was much turmoil in the man. In a city like Ceres Centropolis, it was difficult for good men to stay steadfast against the challenges the city offered. He knew this struggle.
The fuck?! Harper’s expression twisted into one of annoyance. His level of frustration rose to the point that his eye started to twitch. “What the fuck?” Harper growled under his breath. Who the fuck was this guy? Harper couldn’t remember him - hell, he couldn’t recall writing down any notes on this asshole in front of him. “You know what,” Harper said, his voice snapped with irritation as he said, “I will fight you and it won’t be embarrassing for me. It’ll be embarrassing for you, you fucker.”
Hawkes started to laugh. “You’re funny, little man,” Hawkes replied. Arrogant children were always so entertaining, especially to knock off their high horse. However, even he knew this wasn’t the right place to fight this child. Hawkes walked over to the teenager and put a hand on his shoulder. With his hand on the teenager’s shoulder, he brought his index and middle finger together then pressed them against his forehead. He grinned at Harper, “This is a neat trick called the Instant Transmission.” He learned it from nomads in a broken country. It was the ability to teleport from anywhere and take them somewhere else in the blink of an eye. He aimed for the outskirts of town, away from the crowd they were in.
“The fuc–,” Harper began as he looked up at who he shoved just now. His eyes widened with surprise but as it has been said: the bigger they are, the harder they fall. He looked up at this man and said, “I said, move.” Harper always managed to have confidence even when it was unnecessary. Just as it was right now. The nineteen year old had many lessons to learn, especially lessons that involved not picking a fight with someone who was much bigger than he was. He took a sharp breath and said, “Move, or I will move you.”
Children with strong powers always had an air of arrogance to them. Especially if they had good control over their abilities. This teenager in front of Hawkes was someone with heavy strength - the warlock didn’t need the confirmation, he could feel the teen’s ability. With a slow nod, he gently voiced out his thoughts: “It would be embarrassing for you if we were to fight now, child. You would not only lose but you would also be captured by S.H.O.T.” Hawkes never relished in the dealing out threats but this did not seem like someone who would accept a calmer conversation. His eyes sped across the crowd of people - definitely too many people in front of them. Too many for him to completely lead to safety.
She smiled at him and saw that he had taken the cake. Felicity lowered her gaze before she returned to the papers that she had been looking over earlier in the day. “There are, but I don’t like using them.” She rarely saw Eren, but she bet that he knew exactly why she stopped using smart phones. Hasting had a tendency to be dramatic even if the drama was limited to his long, overused pauses to stare off into the distance. “And I thought that you’d find this information more useful than the other two.”
She straightened the papers and left them on the table for him to take before she walked to the fridge to get herself a sandwich. “Sawyer Oliver, Micah’s goddaughter, I think… She broke into a SHOT facility and then a couple days after was hit with a dart filled with something that caused severe hallucinations and did a number on her abilities for a bit.” She took a bite out of her sandwich. “I don’t remember who, but it looks like something related to Two and Three. That’s all the information I have for now.”
“Don’t be stubborn. Ignoring their messages will only make them come bother you more,” Eren replied with the obvious observation. Their family had a tendency of being difficult, both he and Felicity included. He set the cake down on the counter. That was something he would get to later, after their conversation. Slowly, his eyebrows raised over with curiosity as his eyes shifted over to Felicity. “And what is that?”
His tired boots clunked as he walked over to the tables where Felicity left the papers. Gently, his fingers picked up the pages, flipping through them with care as his curious eyes moved up and down the page. His brows knitted with frustration when Felicity mentioned the dart that caused hallucinations and affected abilities. The familiarity of those powers tapped into a quiet memory that caused him to grimace. “That’s why Sting and Ophelia are here,” Eren responded. “The Mother Dragon must have known which was why she requested everyone who was available to get here. She does not take threats to the family lightly.” There was a heaviness in his tone. If those two were taken, then it would be trouble for everyone in the city.
Felicity would constantly tell others that she didn’t really like the Calloways, but she did appreciate one of them. Ever since she was young, she would prepare sweets and set them out for him during his birthday. She thought that he would stop, but more than a handful of years ago, she learned that he was in the same city as her. She pressed the top of the cake box closed and then set it outside. It wasn’t his birthday, but she was thinking about him. Ophelia and Hasting were now in the city, so she hoped that Eren would finally show his face to her. Felicity placed it on the mat in front of her home’s door and then waited in the kitchen. He’d let himself in if he wanted.
Unlike their more boisterous oldest brother, Eren preferred to maintain a quiet distance from everyone. There was no need to announce what he did, all he had to do was do it; he didn’t need the constant praise. Felicity lived in the city and from time to time, Eren would take a glance to make sure his sister wasn’t in a position that he could sweep in and save her from - he liked to leave his siblings be but wouldn’t hesitate to step in and save them from their own stupidity. With Hasting and Ophelia present in the city now, he wanted to make sure that Felicity hadn’t taken their arrival in the wrong way. However, he looked at the cake box on the mat of her front door. She wanted to talk.
Eren picked up the cake box, careful not to throw the balance off. With his free hand, he reached for the doorknob and muttered a quiet incantation to unlock it. As he walked in, he close the door and locked it tightly. Eren stood quietly, looking around for a moment before he headed to the direction of the kitchen. As he stood at the entryway to the kitchen, he looked over at Felicity and said, “There are things called cell-phones, Felicity.”
godrick took a sharp breath, reeling back in his seat to sweep his eyes around the bar that they were in. it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t the gamble. he snorted and then laughed at hawkes response. “yeah, well, we got shit to do before we can bring the gamble back,” godrick reminded hawkes with a quick glance of seriousness. he sighed and said, “we got too much shit to do, hawkes.” the gamble was never defunct - currently displaced, but not defunctional. they were working behind the scenes just fine. godrick reached for the stein glass, he rose up slightly before he took a drink. as he set it down on the table between them, he looked back at hawkes, “how’s the bird?”
That was something they said all the time: we got shit to do before ... - their work was never done, it seemed. Hawkes understood this and he understood this well. He nodded silently as he shifted, resting his chin against the back of his hand for a settled moment. “Let’s finish it up,” Hawkes finally spoke. He moved his hand, reaching for the beer bottle in front of him. He rose it in a mock toast with Godrick before he drank it. The amber liquid settled down, calming that growing annoyance of being in an unfamiliar bar. At the question, Hawkes raised an eyebrow at Godrick and said, “That bird crows more than it flies.”
Being put on tracking duty was something that Hawkes had grown accustomed to. He was far more silent than the other members of The Gamble’s motley crew. However, unlike his previous jobs, there was some personal at stake about this. “That man and the people he work for,” Hawkes began, “They took something that belongs to my family. I need it back.”
Hawkes eyed the decor very slowly. Each item on the walls and shelves made his eyes squint, narrowed with annoyance as he took in a short breath that came out of him annoyed. There was an obvious frown in his expression his eyes rolled from one side to the other. Hawkes shook his head as he closed his eyes; that short blink was enough of a break from this oddly decorated bar. He looked up to the man in front of him and bluntly said, “Bring The Gamble back already.” @queuedgodd
There were a lot of people in the streets today. More than there should have been in Harper’s honest opinion. It must have been the day off that caused this but whatever the reason was, they were in the way. “Get out of the fucking way, you damned filler characters,” Harper shouted as he pushed past the crowd. He wasn’t in the mood to deal with them, especially when there was a deal at his favorite restaurant - 2lbs of shrimp for $10 at the steam cooked seafood restaurant was a steal of a deal. However, as he pushed past the people, he realized why they were all gathered. S.H.O.T. was having another one of their demonstration of powers. How fucking annoying. “Move it,” Harper shouted as he kept walking past the people. He shoved someone a little too hard and said, “You’re in the way. Move it, you extra.”
At the soft shove, Hawkes turned to face the younger man. There wasn’t much to say to the boy. Rather, Hawkes stared at him for a few moments in surprise that someone that small would attempt anything against him - a veil of entertainment shielded his eyes as he let out a short laugh. He shook his head at the boy and said, “You can go around.” Hawkes’ eyes moved from the younger man and over to the center of the crowd. His lips twisted as he bit the inside of his cheek. Too many people, too many liabilities. S.H.O.T. seemed to be playing their hand with as much handicap as they can put out. “This is bothersome.”
sky’s mind was elsewhere. it had been a few days since the fight with castigador, but it was still fresh on his mind. the red ranger needed more training. he needed to get stronger. glimpses of the fight continue to replay in his head and the more he thought about it, the more frustrated he got. although sky’s mind was focused on the replaying those fight scenes in a continous loop, sky was actually out in the city and he hadn’t moved from where he stood. his gaze was still in one direction, focused and unwavering; he was literally standing in place. “huh? what?” sky finally snapped out of his daze as he felt someone’s voice aimed at him. “what did you say?”
There were countless reasons why someone could be stood in one place - Hawkes spent thousands of years literally frozen in time - but the issue wasn’t that. His brows knitted with frustration mounted in annoyance as his lips upturned into an obvious frown. When the man in front of him finally turned to face him, his upturned lips shifted as they pressed into a thin line: the red ranger. He looked back at the man, carefully eyeing the worried remnants in the man’s expression as he finally said, “You’re in the way. It’s a sidewalk.”
“I got two too many KFC buckets and I don’t know what to do with them. I’m already a bucket in… Maybe I should give them to Upchuck Ulysses? I bet with his acid spit, he’d be able to eat these no problem.”
Hawkes almost walked right past Honor but did a double take. He stopped to face her when she mentioned Upchuck. “Please don’t,” he muttered, “Last time was messy.”

Hi. My name is Raeburn. Excited to meet and write with you all.
The origin story of each Child of Calloway differs in details but the one thing that they all have in common is the Mother Dragon found them when they felt as though they had no more options in this life.
-- Eren was 10 years old when he first met the Mother Dragon. He'd been wandering around the Earth on his own for a few years before he realized that he would never be allowed to go back home. Eren was not of this world. No, that's incorrect. He is of this world, but a different version of this world. At the point when he met her, he was close to death - malnutrition, lack of sleep and overall, lack of care that a child could need. Eren cannot remember much of what went on that day but he does know that after that day, he has called the Mother Dragon his own mother.
-- Of all the Children of Calloway, Eren is the most quiet as he thinks his siblings' personalities are already too loud.
There are worlds beyond the one we live in - many are much closer to ours than most would be able to imagine.
-- Eren is not of this world. Well, technically, he is of the planet Earth but not of the Earth we know. He originally hails from an alternate version of Earth. In that world, magic and abilities are not as common as it is in this current time; only those with money and influence were able to access such magic and those with natural born abilities were made wealthy by those who sought after their powers. Eren had been born the crown prince of one of the many empires in that version of Earth. However, the empire that Eren had been born into had a surplus of magic. This caused unending unrest with the rest of the planet and eventually lead to a war set to topple that Burakgazi Empire. During this war, a misfired explosion had aimed for the fortress that housed the empire's magic. Once the explosion occurred, a large anima burst into the sky and began to trap everything within the vortex. Eren had been pulled into it and from that moment, he was trapped on our version of Earth.
-- An anima is a large concentration of magical energy that has grown to be so massive that it collapsed into itself. In this case, the anima created by the magic collected in the Burkagazi Empire was so massive that when it became unstable, it created a vortex large enough to tear through the alternate dimension plane and into our Earth.
-- Eren does not remember the full history of his original world but he does remember that that world should never be allowed to cross over. He knows that the world steals the magic of others and with this version of Earth thriving with their magic, Eren will not allow it to ever diminish.
Frozen in time.
-- In his quest to seal his world from ever coming into this one, Eren had accidentally gotten himself frozen entirely. He had been in his quest to destroy a possible portal from his world only to find out that it had been a trap set by another magic user. It encased him and suspended him in animation for a few thousand years. While he was frozen, Eren initially thought that only a few days had passed. Unfortunately, when he came to, the era that he knew was no longer and Earth had passed into a light.
-- When he awoke, he decided to take a break from his initial quest and linger around where Mother Dragon's cave was. However, upon moving to Ceres Centropolis, he became involved with Gray's Gamble and enjoyed the jobs that have been passed to him. He is loyal to the members of The Gamble and will go through great lengths to protect them. At the Gamble, he goes by the name of Hawkes and does not speak much about his history or goals. He likes that they do not pry unless they are being annoying.
Hawkes.
-- Hawkes was a name given to him by the members of The Gamble and enjoys it. He likes that they cared enough about him to give him a nickname - it actually makes him happy. For the most part, he goes by Hawkes. Although he does not mind being named Eren, the name Hawkes just sounds cool and sometimes, he just wants to be cool.
-- Hawkes usually wears a dark hood and a large cover that shields his face from being recognized. With the work he does, knowing his face can be a danger.
-- Hawkes carries five magical staffs with him - there is a dark green strap that goes across his chest and to his back, the staffs are attached on his back.
Magic is as unique as the individual who casts it; a person's magical fingerprint is not one that can be easily imitated.
-- Eren's magic relies on the five magic staffs.
The first staff is a long wooden staff, with a rounded head that is pierced in the middle. It is wrapped in bandages from the base of the head and then all the way along the staff. This was the staff that he has had since he fell from his original world.
The 2nd staff is a long wooden staff, with a large head in the shape of a dulled yellow eye and a red pupil. When this is not in use, the eye is shut but when it is used in battle, it will open.
The 3rd staff is made of wood just as the others. The head for this is similar to that of a three pronged trident. This is one that is regularly used in battle - despite being made of wood, when Eren feeds his magical ability to it, it can pierce even the toughest of material.
The 4th staff is also made of wood. Its head is shaped like a dark blue fan. It remains shut but opens when in use. The carvings in the fan are written spells that allow this staff to shoot out beams of magical energy that mimic that of photon beams when needed.
The final staff is made of holy wood. The top looks like as a backwards 3. At the top curve, there three golden rings that pierce it. It has been known for having healing purposes.
-- With the aid of his fifth staff, Eren can use its healing purposes to put people to sleep. The click of the three gold rings usually indicates that the spell is in progress. Only those of Elder level magic have been able to stay awake past the spell's work.
-- By planting all five staffs into the ground, Eren is able to create an illusion that the enemy is propelled several hundred meters into the air. The enemy is then tied up with four belts and a Demon breaks through the sky, reaching to attack the enemy. This Magic is used to break down the mind of the enemy or distract them long enough to prepare another attack
-- By throwing his staffs at the enemy and encasing them in them, Eren can create several Magic circles covered in runes above his enemy, which release a concentrated beam of Magic Power that damages the enemy.
-- By using 3 of his staffs, Eren can cast a Magic circle that can reflect spells back to the caster.
-- By throwing all of his staffs into the air, they take on the form of a constellation and borrow the powers of the stars to send down a destructive force that can rival that of a meteor. While they are in the air, he can call them down consecutively to hit whichever targets he needs to.
-- In addition to these types of magics, Eren is capable of simple spell work and continues to try and better himself at it.
Let me know if you would like to plot something up.
