"En alemán, los adjetivos son parásitos de los sustantivos. Cuando un sustantivo es femenino y quiere mostrarse en dativo, también el adjetivo debe maquillarse en femenino y plegar su cuerpo al dativo. El adjetivo japonés, por su parte, no se adapta, puede incluso determinar por sí mismo el tiempo de la frase: akakatta (estaba rojo). Porque en su cuerpo mismo el adjetivo conlleva el verbo estar. Ser-rojo no es entonces una información suplementaria sobre una flor, es una actividad ".
