This past May, Harry Styles’ debut solo single ‘Sign Of The Times’ earned a gold certification in the United States. Last week, the album on which it appears received a gold certification of its own. According to the RIAA, Styles’ self-titled debut solo album went gold on August 22, 2017. The award confirms 500,000 in US units. Each unit is equal to 1 album sale, 10 track sales or 1500 track streams. ‘Harry Styles’ debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200.

Harry Styles Meets Fan Injured in Manchester Attack, Dedicates Performance to Her

Sweet creature, indeed! Harry Styles shared a touching moment with a teenage fan injured in the Manchester terror attack while filming his BBC concert special on Wednesday, August 30.

The former One Direction singer, 23, dedicated a performance of his song “Sign of the Times” to Freya Lewis, who was hospitalized for multiple fractures, lacerations and burns after a suicide bombing at Ariana Grande’s concert at the Manchester Arena in May. The attack left 22 people dead, including Freya’s best friend Nell Jones.

“[Harry] said he was dedicating [the song] to his friend Freya,” the 14-year-old girl’s sister Georgia Lewis exclusively tells Us Weekly. “We were all crying after that.” Styles performed tracks from his self-titled debut solo album in front of a live studio audience in Manchester on Wednesday evening, in addition to sitting down for an interview with his friend and BBC Radio 1 host Nick Grimshaw. After the show, Styles headed backstage to meet Freya. “It was an incredible night,” Georgia tells Us. “Freya was very happy and extremely emotional to meet him.”

The song that kind of made the album feel like it was starting to actually be an album over a group of songs was ‘Sign of the Times.’ I finished lunch early and went and sat at the piano for like five minutes. It was the quickest songwriting on the album. I think we’d finished it in, minus the choir, about three hours. It became like a bridge into trying a bunch of different stuff.

According to a press release, ‘Two Ghosts’ is one of 10 performances that will be included in the upcoming Apple Music exclusive film Behind the Album: The Performances; no release date has been announced for that project.
