SOMETHING ABOUT RAI’S WORDS is familiar, in a painful sort of way. He knows that resignation, that firm decision to accomplish the only thing LEFT for you, or to give up to the grave with a valiant effort. Oh, he knows.

“ You sound awfully resigned to that. ”

He doesn’t answer right away; it wasn’t something he often liked to reflect on. If he thought too hard about it, something might sway his decision, and then where would he be? What purpose would be left to his already crumbling world? He doesn’t want to think about what might happen if he somehow lost this foothold, thin as it may be.

     “...Don’t remind me,” he replies, a surprisingly soft-spoken tone to his words considering the foul attitude he had up to this point. There’s a distant look to his visage for a moment before he closes his eyes and returns to reality.

     “--I’m not looking for any pity. I’ve made my decision. It’s my burden to bear.”

A GODDESS GONE MAD, HM ? It’s certainly worth looking into, as far as Fai’s own goals are concerned. There’s no guarantee – never is – that he’ll find what he’s looking for, but as far as CLUES go, this is halfway decent. He stows the information, for now; will keep his TRUE intentions a secret until he feels that honesty is a SAFE bet.

“ So, what do you plan to do, then ? You seem awfully fired up for someone who talks like the situation is hopeless. ”

     “Just because it’s hopeless doesn’t mean it’s impossible.”

It didn’t matter what was in store for him to seek this revenge, but to sit idly by and do nothing... Rai would rather lay down and let the virus consume him rather than that.

Using the barrel of her gun, the witch delicately adjusted the glasses on her face. There weren’t many that could stand up against the supernatural the way she did, and not just survive. No no, he was crushing them. Her curiosity was quite piqued.

- {  ☾ } - “ Clearly you’re no normal person, but could you possibly want with higher powers? ”

There was a slight hint of venom as she said those last two words. There was no doubt on where she stood regarding the whole gods situation.

     “Paradiso...?”

The word was tested, as if saying it might spark something he had heard of before, but it was no use. The word was foreign to him, but he wonder if it had something to do with the deities. Any crumb of information was worth it’s weight in gold, at this point.

     “One of those higher powers thought they’d play a nasty trick on some humans. Now one of those humans is pissed to Hell and back, and wants a little revenge.” 

It certainly wasn’t difficult to figure out who he was alluding to, but keeping things even a little vague helped maintain some caution. This woman was clearly no joke. He’d have to be at least a little cautious.

      “And just to be clear; you leave that bitch-goddess Amnety to me. I’m gonna be the one to put her down, and if you wanna get in my way, then don’t think I won’t hesitate to go through you to get there.”

So much for being cautious.

HE’S SURPRISED TO HAVE RECEIVED such a blunt answer. For a moment, Fai’s mind trails away, wondering what it must be like to have the courage to so easily share one’s PAST. How wonderful it might be, to have that sort of STRENGTH. The mage shakes the thought quickly– he is not that sort of person, and he never will be.

“ Pardon my curiosity, but may I ask about the deranged goddess you mentioned ? ” Fai can’t help but wonder if the deity might be a lead in his own HUNT.

“ I can’t PROMISE to help you, but who knows ? Maybe if you help me understand  .  .  .  ”

He normally wouldn’t talk about his past so freely, and so bluntly, but Rai meant to use it as a deflection; surely nobody would take such a tale at face-value, not one so outlandish and bold as his. Either the mage was playing along and screwing with him, or the two shared more in common than either might have initially thought.

     “She was a goddess of fertility and compassion, turned mad-- goes by ‘Amnety’, where I’m from.” he explains, arms crossing, “I don’t expect you to help, so don’t think I’m askin’ for it-- not like there’s much you could do anyway.”

--Or much he could do, either. He could only assume the power of a goddess to be more than he could fathom, even despite his heightened abilities thanks to the virus inside him, but he’d prefer his death to be from, at the very least, attempting to bring her down.

Of course, Rai expected no help or information. The circumstances seemed too good to be true that he would just happen upon someone who had also been there during the crisis, and somehow survived.

The first thing would probably be anything to do with his past; family, childhood, or anything regarding the incident that caused him to be where he is today. He hates thinking about it, and in his mind, dwelling on the past doesn’t change the future, so he doesn’t about it or bring it up.

The second thing he probably doesn’t like talking about is anything pertaining to religion. The deranged goddess that gave him his infliction put a bad taste in his mouth regarding the matter, so whenever religion is brought up in any form, he’ll either change the subject or leave.

EVER ONE TO DOWNPLAY HIS OWN SKILLS, Fai throws his arms behind his head, looking as unassuming as he possibly can. They drop as the mage motions to his utter LACK of any visible weapons. Just this once, what he presents is the truth– he holds nothing with which to defend himself. ( He doesn’t NEED anything, either, but that notion is left UNSAID. )

Fai pouts dramatically, as though being challenged to a spar is truly a STRUGGLE for him– as though it is an insult to even assume he might be STRONG.

“ I’m not a fighter at all ! I don’t even have any weapons or anything ! You’d win right away ! ”

     “Tch. Seriously...?”

Rai didn’t think this guy was such a pushover-- he thought he sensed some sort of power from him, and maybe it’d make for a decent workout, at best. His eyes narrowed, attempting to see if Fai was hiding something. Despite having a lax posture, Rai wasn’t totally buying it.

     “What’s weapons got to do with anything? I don’t use weapons either. C’mon, Y’er not even gonna try?” He sighs, shoulders sagging, “...What a waste of my time. Whatever, just get lost then.”
