Come On, Let’s Bring It Together!
Hey party people! Been awhile, I know. I’m sorry about that, but that can wait. I got something far more important to talk about.
That Black Lives Matter.
I should admit upfront I myself am not a POC, I can understand why specifying that is important.
What I can also say is I was raised under a father who was a conservative, not cool kind of Christian, Sargent of his police department. I have not spoken to him since summer of 2016 and am currently under treatment for a PTSD diagnosis. In that time I had intimate opportunity to watch the actions and hear the stories of depraved officers of the ‘law’ and what those who we should have been able to trust to keep us safe really looked like.
I stand with you.
In my time in the field of art, including running this blog, I’ve gotten to know so many amazing and talented individuals from all walks of life. What I love about this blog is how it brought so many of us together. To one another we were fellow fans and friends. All that mattered was that we all had so much love for the same game.
I will not pretend to know your pain of discrimination, but I stand with you in your right to live unafraid of those who should be protecting you. Those that twist their own narrative to make their misdeeds appear justified.
However any of you can help, I encourage you to check out this link to the homepage of the Black Lives Matter movement to find out how you can.
Whatever action you can take, now is the time to take it.
Call your office holders, donate to bail funds and charities, participate in peaceful protest. Whatever you can do to spread the love we have for one another and our willingness to do what it takes to protect our freedom to live together and free of fear.
Be safe. Be heard.
