ofthcrnedrcsesâ:
Admittedly, Scarlett was much better at hexing than she was at healing, and therefore when help was offered to her, she wouldnât be one to say no. Growing up with two older brothers who taught her how to defend herself rather well, she has learned both how to take a jinx and how to avoid them. She was rather paranoid, but that was just her natural manner. After all, she couldnât just trust exactly anybody. From where she sat on the bench, the witch flashed him a grin as she looked up at him.Â
âSome help would be very appreciated, thank you.â She said, pushing away her pride as she moved aside to allow him some space to sit beside her. âMy nameâs Scarlett, by the way. Scarlett Dalager.â
âMax Bennett.â Max said in return as he sat down, offering her a small smile. Usually, when heâd patch up small wounds, and mostly on himself, it was no problem, but when it came to others, he couldnât help but feel nervous about it. There was always a chance of messing up and making things worse, which is why he was extremely cautious. Thankfully, her wound didnât seem as bad as he originally thought, and a bit of channeling his healing magic should do the trick and make the wound disappear without even leaving a scar.
âThis might sound weird, but I hope you trust me enough with this.â After all, they only just met and in truth, she had no reason to trust him at all. âI promise though you wonât feel a thing, no pain at all. Just a small tingling sensation and warmth.â
And what choice do I have? I canât live like this.
internationalaurorâ:
   â  they have been properly obliviated. we must steer them away from the site, we cannot have anymore non magique to hinder us from the search, nor get killed. â severine commented as she glanced around at the site. there were still traces of magic left, but they couldnât follow where it would lead to. they knew it was a terrible fate, dragging both wizards & non magique people into their war of power. if only dumbledore would just battle against him, then everything might be over. he was the only one that could stop him, no one else.  Â
   â come on, monsieur bennett, we have to gather any information we can find before anyone else gets hurt. besides, i have to interrogate the swiss minister. â
âIâm afraid that thatâs not as easy as it seems to be. The whole crime scene is swarmed with Muggles, weâll have to wait until the whole area is cleared off the no-maj before we can go in.â The ministry officials were already working on that, seeing that the mo-maj were properly obliviated and steered away from the area. They would have to put up wards to make sure they could work undisturbed. The damage was great, and the message that it conveyed was received with caution and fear. Grindelwald was not to be underestimated.
Max turned to the french Auror with a small frown. âYou donât honestly think that the swiss minister was involved in all of this, do you?â
tnottâ:
âNot big fan of things that get in the way of my revision time,â Theo corrected.
It was partly true. Theo did like to spend as much time as she could studying for her classes. But Maximillian wasnât entirely wrong, either; Draco was constantly wasting time on his ridiculous, petty feud with Potter. Still, full of hot air or not, Draco was also one of Theoâs oldest friends, and she wouldnât embarrass him by gossiping.
He in truth expected such an answer from a Ravenclaw for sure, and while he saw most of the Slytherin house not worry too much about grades, it was nice to see that there was still some hope left. His eyes once again moved to look at his younger brother and with a sigh, he then moved closer to Theo to perhaps get a glance on what she was rivising for. Then again, how hard could fourth year classes be hard?
âWhat are you studying for? Exams are like a month from now on.â
What would you say to dinner? Tonight, someplace mundane. Just the two of us.
ofdumbledoresâ:
âNo, you wouldnât have been dead as well.â Albus said simply. He had thought the same thing, initially before looking into Lucilleâs death, before he realized who had killed her and why. It was a cruel discovery, but he had understood it and he knew the implications of it. To a certain degree, the minds of those people were easy to read without using Legilimens on them in the slightest. âThey wouldnât have touched you, because you are not holding your father back. If anything you are motivating him. He wants to change the world, for himself and for you.â And once for Albus. But that lay in the past. They were now so firmly on different sides, as much as he ached for him still, he would never be his partner again. He had to stop him.
âOf course you will live with me. Max, this is my job as your godfather, to take you in and make sure you are okay when your parents can no longer do so themselves. And I intend to honor that. So yes, you will live with me during the summer, too. Like I said, unless youâd rather live with Bathilda, that is your decision.â
âI hope you realize that this sounds so accusing, right, uncle? It sounds as if Iâm to blame that dad turned the way he did.â Max remarked with a small smirk. Of course, he knew that Albus didnât mean it like that, but he couldnât help himself. âThing is, I donât want a better world. Iâm quite content with the one as it is right now. I couldnât care less about differences between wizards and Muggles, or if some consider them inferior to us.â Then again, that was his teenage logic and take on all things that happened recently. It was more than evident that his father didnât share such opinion.
The sole mention of living with Bathilda made him make really sour face. âLike I said before, while I have deep respect for my great-great-aunt, I think Iâll pass on that offer and rather stay with you.â Heâd even dare to describe Albus as the cool uncle, and Max was convinced that he would have it good with him. It could have been much worse, especially with his mom dead and dad an international criminal now.
Max understood that all too well. Heâd been in such situations more than once, ever since he was a little kid. A scrapped knee here, a cut or two there, maybe some bruises from the mostly playful and harmless fights between him and his friends - and it wasnât anything that he couldnât heal up. More often than not heâd heal the wounds himself to not make his parents worried, and it was essentially what gave him the idea of becoming a doctor. After all, not everybody could really go around and say they had healing abilities, or well, healing magic, but then again, Max wasnât one to do that either.
âI might be able to help. Let me see.â

You all look sharp. I would have thought youâd be glamoured.
Shadowhunters Season 3 Episode 3 Deleted Scene
Why he was still listening to Care of Magical Creatures in his seventh year, Max wasnât sure himself either. He wanted to drop it after his fifth year, but the subject kind of stuck with him. It was an easy one too, and it gave extra credit for later on, and while the Slytherin wasnât quite as enthusiastic about the subjects as some of his classmates, he wasnât exactly a failure at it either.
âWhy do you think these... things are so fascinating?â He asked one of the Hufflepuff girls that attended the class with him as he motioned towards the Porlock they were studying.
@blondexbadgerxvanceâ
To say that Max was nervous was probably the understatement of the century. Then again, it wasnât every day that one got feedback from Stark Industries and their scholarship program he applied for couple months back. Max made it into the final round of applicants that were candidates for the scholarship and had to prepare for an interview with no other than Tony Stark himself. He aspired to get into MITâs medical school program and the scholarship was one last push towards it.
Upon being called inside, Max straightened his shirt and went in. âGood afternoon, mr. Stark.â He greeted the man behind the desk.
@ircnxstark
His Saturday afternoon was spend like every other when they couldnât go to Hogsmeade and when the weather was just right - sitting down by one of the huge sad willows by the Black Lake with his small group of friends. Most called them elitists, some hated them, some even feared them, like they should have. Most of Maxâs friends, including himself, came from well respected pureblood families.Â
Nothing would be out of the ordinary if Max didnât spot no other than Lily Evans, the Muggle-born witch from Gryffindor. âWhat are you doing here, Evans? Canât you see this is Slytherin only territory now?â
@thatmudbloodÂ
âWhy I want to become a doctor? To help others. I think I have that something that could maybe even change the whole point of view in medicine. But a future doctor should never gives his secrets away, otherwise everybody would do it, wouldnât they?â Then again, not every Muggle doctor was a wizard with the ability to heal his patients with magic.

thegreatestministerâ:
bennett. not malfoy, then. itâs curious, and cornelius canât help but keep his eyes on the young man.
â max bennett. iâmcornelius fudge, minister for magic. â fudge introduced himself with a proud smile. heâs not bothered by the letters that came in; heâs more bothered about maxâs reaction. cornelius has never really seen anyone react to magic for the first time (apart from when the muggle prime minister tried to throw him out of the window) so heâs curious to know just how people think about it.
â a crash-course in using magic ? â fudge asks. â thatâs an interesting phrase. tell me a little about yourself first, max ⊠why do you feel like you should have a wand permit ? â
He felt very awkward being there, not even exactly knowing how to behave in front of a minister of all things and people. Sure, heâd seen their local mayor every now and then, but the man was practically their neighbour and talking to him didnât feel nearly as awkward as this, even more so since Max still needed his wand permit and actual lesson at Hogwarts heâd get afterwards.
âI was told I needed one since I never had one to begin with.â Max explained, nervously fiddling with his fingers and fidgeting with his foot. âWell... I come from a small town close to Nothingham, and first discovered magic when I was around six. I never really told anybody, and let it just happen. The only thing that I noticed was that I can heal people, things from minor scraps to bad injuries, which is why I wanted to become a doctor, to help others. Well, all until I got a visit that revealed quite a few things about what I actually am.â
ofdumbledoresâ:
Part of him wanted to scold Max in kindness, to tell him that history way important, as it taught the mistakes that should not be repeated. And one day, he feared, Grindelwalds way would be one of the tales of caution taught by history. And yet history was biased. HIstory was written by the survivors, the winners of war. No matter what happened, history would always be biased and as such, so was Bathilda. It was natural. It was nothing to blame her for.Â
âI couldnât have stopped him, Max.â Albus said gently. He could not have. He could have tried harder, he knew that, but he also knew that he didnât have the power to stop his former lover. He never did. Once upon a time he had the power to delay him maybe. But that was it. And he did, for a bit. That was it. Albus had remained close for Max after, but mostly close to his mother and so he knew a fair deal about what happened.
âLucille knew as well.â He confirmed. âBut it was not your father that killed her. Lucille grounded him in a way. Her death caused him to go so rogue so fast, Max. He loved her and I am afraid she shared his views. As did I when I first met your father. He is a very charismatic man and so Lucille followed him, loyally. Whoever killed your mother wanted to get to him. I assume it was one of his followers who thought Lucille and you were holding him back. And it worked.â
Max didnât say anything for a very long time, lost in thought and information of what he just heard, and in mind going through all sorts of scenarios of what could have happened were his mother still alive, if his father didnât turn out the way he did, of things that might happen in the future not just to him but to his godfather and great-great-aunt as well. It was really a lot to take in, and Max didnât exactly know what to make of it all.Â
Did that mean that he potentially would end up the same, or that his father might come back to get him and recruit him into his lines? He didnât know, and part of him didnât even want to know.The young wizard took in a deep breath before slumping against his seat and looking up at Dumbledore, still having more questions than answers, really, though he supposed that some things were better left unsaid and unanswered.
"I could have been dead as well if I was at home.â It was more of a blunt statement than a question. The mere fact that he was at Hogwarts when it happened possibly saved his life. But even the fact of him being in Hogwarts didnât guarantee his complete safety, even though max had a feeling that his godfather would take all the necessary precautions to make sure heâd be safe. âSo whatâs the plan? Iâm relatively safe here, but what about the summer break? Iâll live with you?â

âYou must be from that group that was sent from Europe to help us find GrindelwaldâŠI wish your bosses would listen, if anything, Grindelwald is long gone from AmericaâŠhe got what he came forâŠâ
âIf youâre going try and push the fault onto us, you might want to try harder then.â Max said in a dry tone, arms crossed in front of him as he almost glared at the other. âHonestly, we shouldnât even try to blame one another. it will bring nothing but more trouble and thatâs exactly what Grindelwald wants.â
